Also, people who haven't got their money back, why? Do you not have some kind of protection on your cards?
It would be helpful if they answered emails and gave us a update i don't think thats much to ask.At the moment my bank is looking into the payment (debit card ).0 -

My partner has had money taken off his account but (as a prospective lawyer) I feel I must look at this reasonably.
Neo's owner wasn't just around when things were fine... he was around attempting to answer questions when this problem first became apparent and letters were sent out to a number of people they perceived to be most at risk. Obviously the problem became much wider but how is he supposed to know how wide the problem is if people don't actually tell him?
And even if he isn't around now, don't you think he has better things to do than sit and update people on a forum who have basically called him a liar and a thief? The hang 'em and flog 'em brigade would be out if he wasn't attempting to get to the bottom of the problem, which probably explains his absence.
Of course he isn't going to want to speculate about who dun it or what happened, as other people seem so keen to do, because it could compromise any possible criminal investigation and he wouldn't want to burn any bridges without clear evidence.
People have every right to be angry, my partner was. But the real criminal is the person who stole your money. And until you know who that person is, libellous comments don't do anything to help anyone do they?
I am sorry but I think you must have read the last comment or two and applied your lawyer head to it - read backover the pages and pages of from the last week or so made by the people affected and then multiply it the amount of other people affected on other forums - when looked at individually yes we can sit back and be patient - but this is not small fraud its big - I cannot stress enough we are talking tens of thousands!!!
you say people have been libellous but again reread the threads and show me where - all anyone has done is ask the question anyone would ask - mine was like others 'have you reported it to the police' and even as late as last Friday when the situation had been boiling over all week, still the answer was no!!! - where in your lawyer logic is the answer to that
you also say does he not have better things to do - WHAT!! - all weve asked him to do is answer questions and now hes gone underground and taken the doctor with him!!!
please believe me when I say I don't want to argue with anyone over this - all I want is for all the aggreived customers of shopneo to at least be given the assurance that this debacle has been handed over to the police and an explanation as to what steps have been taken to ensure our personal details will not be exposed again - do you think as a lawyer that's too much to ask?0 -
I paid using Paypal when I bought the dvds, I've just changed my Paypal password, will that help to stop anyone accessing my Paypal account?I haven't got one!0

If the police are now involved, perhaps no-one from shopneo is allowed to make any comments while the police carry out their investigations (that's what happens on The Bill isn't it?).Charlie0

I purchased some stuff from neo on 5 Feb and had about £40 taken from my A+L debit card on 20 Feb (I check the statement online each day - and so cancelled the card the next day). According to the bank it was taken by an Australian online 'adult' dating agency. I got the letter from Neo on 23 Feb - too late.
Although I cancelled the card before a lot more could be taken, I am well angry - because not having access to the card / account over the last few days has created big problems for me whilst I have been away on business.
Incidentally, my bank 'required' me to report the matter to the Police - although when I did, I was not aware of the connection with ShopNeo.
It makes me wonder how many more people (outside this forum) have had money taken - but have not seen the connection with Shopneo!!0 -
A couple of years ago I noticed a transaction on my CC that I didn't recognise...contacted my CC company & they sent me a form out to complete. 3 weeks or so later money was credited to my CC. Rang the company to find out more & they told me that they wouldn't tell me what happened. I think they like to keep the ins & outs of the scams going on quiet to stop them mushrooming & becoming a bigger problem. Chances are people will get their money back without an explanation of what occurred.0

hollydays wrote:Perhaps you could advise all those who havent yet reported this to the Police to do so now.Dont you agree? As a prospective lawyer?
As of 1st April you won't be able to under the Fraud Act 2006. It'll be down to the Banks to do so, not the individual.0
