I am no good at links- but have just found one.
    Search B4usearch.com
Do a search under businesses, enter neo technologies and stoke on trent.
    see item number 4.
This is a balanced article as it shows both the moderators comment about a Police Raid ,and someone from Neo technologies? response.Perhaps someone else could post the link.Neo technologies ?have confirmed on the website that the Police were given the wrong info.Let me add this was 2001,and has no connection with credit card fraud.

the problem is you have appointed yourself the voice of reason yet i am i and im sure others cannot see where you are coming from - instead of being angry about your loss and sympathising with others you seem to be sticking up for shopneo ....sorry odearme we do not need a voice of reason we need answers!!

just my tuppenth worth 8 and no insults intended

No insults were taken, or even implied in your post.

Am I angry - No. Whats the point in being angry as you don't yet know who you are angry at. If its Shopneos fault then I will be annoyed, but not angry. I just won't shop there again. People are directing there anger at Shopneo without proof that the fraud is there fault. It could just as easily be the fault of the guys that wrote the software that Shopneo uses, or a fault further up the line. None of use knows, so why be angry at them.
Shopneo may be responsible for the security of the software and servers on-site, or these operations may take place off-site, again no-one know and its just specualtion. the problem may not even have occured at this stage.

Answer take time, especially in the IT field. As the banks become involved, and investigations take place, they will get closer to the truth about what happened. Unfortunately that takes time and we basically have no right to know the answer anyways. Unless you haven't been refunded by the banks, this issue is now between the banks and shopneo to sort out.

This takes the total the banks have lost on credit cards in my name to over £5000. They lost over £4600 on a card they posted and was stolen in the post. Now that one annoyed me, but not angered.

I feel sorry for the people that paid by debit cards, but what can they do except complain to the bank. The money will be refunded. Its a known fact that credit cards with online protection is the only way to shop online though.

Am I curious, yes, I'd like to know how it occured. Do I have a right to know that, I somehow don't think so. (but I may be wrong on that)

I firmly beleive that some people on here do really need help. In posting info, and then pointing out that what some are saying on here is based on guesswork which benefits no-one, I am subject to the psychotic allegations of people I am trying to help. No-one here knows me, no-one knows where I work, but the allegations of either holding a vendetta against shopneo, or working for them, flow in. Why, because I disagree with people, who then, knowing they can't win the argument, result to posting negative comments about the poster (again without any basis in fact).

well said i am a customer of theres, well used them a few times in the past.... i posted one of their deals a few weeks back and had the same type of comments aimed at me..... saying thing like i work for them etc, pms etc saying the same.

Oh i too have lost hundreds so yes i am unhappy too but negative comments that have no evidence supporting the claim is not helping us or the shop.

we are both obviously entitled to our own opinions and i can assure you if shopneo had played fair here my views would have been similar to yours - however i became really cross and very suspicious when even as late as last friday paul from shopneo confirmed he still had not contacted the police about this whole debarcle - i reiterate my problem with this - WHY???? - and this is just one question that they have repeatedly refused to answer - read the threads again from last week and you will see that very few if any of the important questions asked were answered!

this goes alot futher than just the stolen money - its identity theft - through shopneo someone has your name address telephone number and dob - so of course you have the right to know how it happened

please can we at least agree this is a scandel!!
  • been reading everyones comments with interest and can fully understand how upset/angry/worried some people are and also how understanding others are being (and I think that to be understanding doesnt mean they aren't upset/angry/worried or that they must be some way linked to ShopNEo)

Anyway, Ive had total of £140 taken from my card, lucky that I check my accounts online every other day or so or might have been more. The annoying thing was that due to my order being delayed, I didnt even get my DVDs or pen drive until about a week after some little **** had had his kicks playing with my money!

Ive cancelled my card and already had my replacement (luckily I dont use it that much-mainly just for online purchases-but feel sorry for all those with DDs and stuff they've gotta change cos thats a real pain in the a*s!), and Ive signed and returned my declaration forms to say the transactions were nothing to do with me so hopefully will get the full amount refunded shortly.

My opinion (and thats all it is) from the info available would be that I dont think ShopNeo as a company is trying to defraud us or is a front for some CC theft operation. At the very most it may be one or two rogue staff members (this is a possibility with the transactions being manually put through the CC machine-I too got a printed CC machine receipt) but this isn't perhaps backed up when you consider that people who last ordered in Oct/Nov have had dodgy transactions. It sounds more like someone has stolen information from wherever it is held by ShopNeo, either physically (where again the finger would have to point to a staff member) or more likely hacked into their system and stolen the info that way (and someone would only have to have seen the posts on here or many other forums about the great deals on offer to have realised there is going to be alot of CC sales taking place and the newish website with possible teething probs may have spurred them on further!)

That said, if the latter is true then ShopNeo are still responsible for storing our information securely and so can still be held accountable to some degree, and Im betting the owner is regretting not checking that out 100% now as I would imagine its going to be very hard to recover from this (as even the fairly understanding of us-like me- are going to be wary of using the site again no matter how good the bargains!)

It does concern me that the police were not contacted sooner by the owner, the response of "possible co-incidence" and "contact your CC company" were fine for the first few days until it became evident there was a bigger problem. I would bet that this delay was more due to him not knowing how to deal with the problem and maybe a bit of burying his head in the sand than anything more suspicious though.

Just my rambling thoughts but have to say that my main worry now that the money is as good as refunded and new card has arrived would be what other damage could the information thiefs do with the data on me they hold? They have our full names, addresses, tel nos, email adds and DOBS aswell as our now cancelled CC details. I'll be doing a credit check in month or so time to check things out but Im sure that isn't 100% and thats what worries me.

Let it go man, go get some fresh air & stop spouting this childish nonsense.

    This isn't a warning, it's a pathetic vendetta.

You really are lost somewhere :rotfl:
  • I think what really pushed my buttons was when Paul Owen gave us a email address to use and all you receive is a stock email back from them saying there not going to discuss the matter. Where is Paul Owen now he was on here all the time pushing his deals now he seems to be in hiding. I’m guessing people would have been happier with him if he had popped in once a day with a update. I can now see why the Hotdeals website banned him.

Right on queue. As soon as you point out to people they are possibly wrong they come out with there defence of "you must work for them"

Again, even though I actually have a life, if I go offline I MUST be implicated. Which again justifies this statement

Now, lets go back to the original post, I am now being accused of working for this company even though I live 100s of miles away from there site, and couldn't pick out stoke on a map. I was, however, previously accused of having a "a pathetic vendetta" against the company.

I couldn't find the post by lostsomewhere that you quoted from, I find what was said by him/her rather offensive (clearly has a grudge and also a presonality  complex).
Obviously lostsomewhere has proved he/she has mental disorder by posting that drivel and making wild assumptions, you also need to use a spell checker :rotfl:

I've got better things to do with my time, messing about on here with multiple usernames isn't one of them!

@ohdearme, I clicked the thanks button by mistake, although thanks for making me aware of what lostsomewhere said.
