This was me yesterday too! Son went to his Dad's yesterday and I was going off to do late night shopping for a pair of bleedin' Y-fronts for a Captain Underpants costume. THEN I read Soph's reply! THEN I called son to see if he'd brought home a letter and yes, it's next week.

He'd have needed long term counselling if I'd sent him to school in Y-fronts and a red cape today!!!!

    :rotfl:

Thanks to Soph's post she has save a lot of kids from counselling :T

I was on the phone to school at 8am, and they confirmmed it was next week

    DD just said "Oh" :rotfl:

Jillybobs, I think there is an Elvis impersonator in one of the Rainbow Magic books - The Rock n' Roll Fairy, I think (my youngest DD was obsessed with those books last year!).
My other DD aged 11 is going as a Bindi Babe (characters from one of her favourite books) which basically just means wearing her funkiest clothes and sticking a bindi on her forehead. Cost - 50p for a packet of gorgeous sparkly bindis from the local market - and she paid, so no outlay for me!
  • Hey, seems to me like you lot have it easy! On our dressup day, not only does ds have to go as a book character, but it has to be from the In and around the sea theme! Help anyone?? Was Pippi Longstocking a character from on the sea or is that just one of the books I read??

When my son did it he went as Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs, blue jeans, red jumper and a bucket of dinos! Easy!
  • so no one got to make easter bonnets or has that letter not come home yet!!
    twins on board
  • Yep, have to do that for youngest son, never thought that when I decided to have three children there would be so much involved!

NOt only does my dd have to go dressed "in character", but she also has to do a "book on a plate" where they have to represent a book they've read on a paper plate, preferably in 3d and they've not to use any words!!!

Needless to say I'm going to have a busy weekend!

No, but we have started discussing which poor soul will dress up as the Easter bunny this year lol.

She's dressing up as little red riding hood, which means I need to do a bit of sewing, but that's ok, and the book on a plate she's doing "jack and the beanstalk" which should be ok-I have lots of green paper!:rotfl:
