for nursery rhyme characters how about...

Dr Foster (went to Gloucester) - need a white coat, toy stethoscope, umbrella and wellies

Hey Diddle Diddle - cat costume with cardboard 'fiddle'

OldMacDonald - dungarees, wellies, checked shirt, assorted animal toys

Little Boy Blue - blue top and trousers, 'horn', toy sheep to carry

Wee Willie Winkie - nightshirt and hat, candlestick

This little piggy went to market - pig costume and directions to market/pretend roast beef dinner

Hot cross buns/muffin man/pat a cake - white top and trousers, chef hat, tray of buns

5 Currant buns - dress in brown and stick black felt circles all over outift for currants (or maybe not!)

Jack and Jill - normal clothes, bandaged head and bucket

Also think of all the counting rhymes - five little ducks, five little monkeys, five little men in a flying saucer, five little speckled frogs, etc.

    hope these help!

Thanks emg you are a true star!! Those are brilliant ideas. Really like the Dr Foster one.

    Thanks again

  • Last year my boys went as Mr Snow (red and white scarf, blue bowler hat-from https://www.sillyjokes.com, white trousers and turtle neck and white face)

And a dinosaur from harry and the bucketful of dinosuars.

This year one is going as zorro - black clothes cape and mask and a sword and the othe is going as Bart Simpson.

I am going as where's wally - red and white stripey jumper, white hat to which I am adding a red trim and pom pom, blue jeans, walking boots, walking stick and painted on glasses,
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j

I work in a charity shop and every year we get loads of Mums coming in looking for costumes for World book Day-I wish the schools would give parents more notice .
Oh how I agree... my DS's school sent the letter home in his book bag today. Their Book Day is Friday. Why must they only give essentially 2 days notice (ie I've got tomorrow and Thursday to sort this out.) :wall: My OH is goign to call them tomorrow to say it's not on. We've phoned them before when they've told us about parent's days two days before the event and their reaction was that parents forget if you tell them much more in advance

Both OH and myself work full time and I work in central London with no hope of getting to a childrens clothes shop.

Anyone know of a character that I could pass my DS off as in a police uniform? I have to work this one out as unless he's going as a Mr Man we won't get any other sensible suggestions from him :rotfl: - he's not yet 4!

Otherwise I have two evenings to sort this out
