Well after successfully reclaiming my charges from HSBC I am going to pursue Royal Bank of Scotland.
I got into terrible trouble around 2 years ago and had lots of charges but thought that because the account is closed I could not claim. However, after reading these boards I can see that it is possible so have drafted my first letter asking for a breakdown of my charges. Having seen how easy it was the first time I hope it is the second time too

Bank :Rsb
Claimed : £1,333
infact ppl they own us well over £2,300 thought it best not to go for the full amount @ the mo reason is in the past it has been part my fault i have gone over the overdraft and i really cant be doing with them closing my account
made it clear to them if they dispute the claim i will take them for the full amount.
Big thanks to everyone on this site for the help and information to do this otherwise like a lot of ppl i wouldent have botherd
will let you know the outcome :-)0 -
Now things have gone from bad to worse!!!!
RBS have sent me a letter demanding my overdraft be paid back by 27th January or they will tyake me to Crown cxourt ???????!!!!!!0 -
I guess they felt the offer they made was a good offer. In fact banks are at liberty to withdraw someone's overdraft at any time as far as I know.
What stage is your court claim at now?0 -
Bank : Royal Bank Scotland
Amount claimed : £105
Amount received : £105
Very quick and painless experience - wrote the first letter 7 days ago.
This was on a bank account I had closed over a year ago.
Cheque for full amount arrived this morning, no explanation, very strange, still banked the cheque straight away.LUCK COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT PATIENTLY0 -
folks i only sent of my letter requesting refund on thursday last week being an inpatient little sh** do you think its wise not to ring up the branch before the 14days ? i know the branch manager quite well as much as Rbs have made some almighty !!!! ups with regards to my account the manager has always been ok with me and has always backed us up.
I am only claiming £1,333 out of a possable £2400 inc interest my line of thinking is to ring up and put the cards on the table also can anyone tell me is it the actull branch who would agree a refund or would they forward it to there HQ i am with the royak Bank Of Scotland btw ;-) . . . . . .0 -
Hi, I have read through many posts but do not see anyone mentioning RBS. Has anyone had any experience or success with them? I would like to follow Martin Lewis' suggestions and make a claim against RBS. Do you think I should use a professional or is RBS no different than any of the other banks.
Cheers

I have had no problem, see my post above. Good luck!LUCK COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT PATIENTLY0 -
i rang Tommy MacLean @ the customer relations dep in Edinburgh asking for an update
The lad was totaly straight up with me sound as a pound "Strange for the rbs i know " all he said was due to the high levels of claims they have been getting more staff have been alocated to the dep and hopefully within 10days i should get a responce to my satisfaction and that was without giving him my account details etc
My branch also confirmed it wont be there possition to close my account this is prob due to the fact we like a pair of Ti** pay £15 a mth for the account and havent incurred a charge for the best part of 12mths plus the £1000 overdraft is paid back every mth without a problem
so would i be right in saying as long as your account is in good order its in there interests to refund the charges and not lose an ok customer ?0 -
Hiya, im about to start my reclaims but i only use this one account im bout to claim from.
i was wondering if anyone could tell me if RBS has asked them to close the account?
I have a £1400 overdraft (just got out of college) and im not sure how many bank charges im due back yet but i just dont want them to turn around and tell me to clear the whole account if it can be avoided.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
thanks.0
