we claimed £960 back, in 2 days we received a letter saying our letter had been acknowledged. 2 weeks later we received a letter offering us £930 as a gesture of goodwill which we accepted.0

Hehe they have a lot of good will don't they? They paid me £3765.00 as a gesture of "good will" which was the total I was claiming :T0 -

me and my other half have decided if its a case of them closing my account i would be open to offers from them to avoid this then again if the offer is crap ill take my chances and bang them for the lot
Hi, just go for it! I had all the misgivings everyone else has or is feeling but I received a letter yesterday offering me the total I had asked for and I can't tell you how good that makes you feel!! Still got a smile from ear to ear. The refund of my cash is brilliant! but the feeling that I have beat the banks (with a lot of help from this site) is an even greater feeling!!!!
So good luck and stick it out.

You need to find out what the charges are then you can check which ones you can claim back and follow the step by step guide by Martin.

I claimed em ALL back, even the charges for when i was overdrawn on my overdraft!!
My arguement was that if they hadnt charged me for bounced DD and SO, then I wouldnt have gone over my overdraft. :rotfl:0 -
Hi guys,
I am now in receipt of my statements that go back 6 years. Upon perusal of these statements, i have filtered the content and compiled a list of CHG's in a word document.
Apologies if i sound dumb, but some of the CHG's do not make sense to me therefore i am uncertain as to which ones, i can or cannot claim.
I am aware of the CHGs that i can claim/not claim (from the list posted in the forum) however, the format in which they are listed on my Royal Bank of Scotland statments are different.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone here who would mind taking a peep at my word document (very short) and just give me a yay or nay on which ones i can claim for.
Im not sure if i can attach the word doc here but if you guys have an email/msn account, id happily send it th document over. I can promise, it shouldnt take more than a minute to skim through this as its a short one.
Many many thanks.0 -
If you are uncertain as to the charges that RBS state please phone them to check what terms they use.0

Edlass, thanks for the advice, i will give them a buzz soon. I do have a couple of more questions.
The following is a sample of what i see throughout all my statements, does any of it make sense to anyone? The CHG card misuse, seems pretty obvious and the INT TO seems like INTEREST but anyone got any idea what the CHG TO means/is? I am just trying to work out if these charges/int are recoverable.
Also, as you can see, my balance has always been in the OVERDRAWN status. With that being said, am i still allowed to claim back my charges?
This is an old and closed RBS account.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

I dont want to sound stupid by trying to claim charges that i am not allowed to claim. This would make me look silly and uneducated to my request. In an endeavour to avoid any mistakes, is there a third party company, that is willing to check through my statements to work out, which charges i can claim back for a reasonable fee?0 -
Those cheeky gits at RBS have taken a fiver direct from my account (Without my permission!) to cover the costs of the S.A.R eventhough I sent them a tenner and they acknowledged it!
Would this give me carte blanche to kick someones rear end from there?0 -
The interest is not recoverable as this is interest charged because you have borrowed the money. You could try and claim it if its caused because you have gone overdrawn due to charges but put that to one side meantime.
Your account is a Royalties Gold Account which means you have a monthly charge to pay which is also not recoverable. Please check with RBS regarding the totals as part of this could be the Royalties Gold charges. The card misuse does sound as if its a recoverable charge.
If you no longer have a list of current charges for RBS you can probably pick one up at your local branch?0
