"The amounts I shall be claiming will be £167 + int amount + £30 court costs."
Thanks
You can't claim costs that you haven't incurred such as the court costs at this stage.0 -
Hi all
Just a quick question, i have recently been charged £34 for going over my overdraft. Now this is the first time that this has ever happened in the 6/7 years iv been with them and its putting me in an awkward financial position (things are tight this month)
I want to claim this money back, but do i send the basic template to them or do i just write a letter explaining the situation?
Also do i write to my local branch?
Thanks in advance
Ginch
edit:
I actually just checked my online banking and they have taken 2 lots of charges off me when iv only been over my limit once - im really angry now!Dearest Max 11th June 1992 - 11th May 20060 -
I have posted 2nd letter today as not received a response. This afternoon tho Virgin One have phoned me to say that they are inundated with enquiries and they will be contacting all customers with offer letters by 16th Feb and to ring her back if I havent heard anything my 18th.
I live in hope but will still start court proceedings if nothin has happened after next 7 days from when they receive it.
Any other RBOS customers had same response?0 -

Well I was successful with HSBC so decided to look at my RBS closed account too. I sent the letter and £10 cheque asking for my transactions in the last 6 years. I then received a letter stating that they have my cheque but as I did not provide enough information (I did) I would have to send them more details.
So I sent my details again and today have received 6 years worth of statements from this closed account.
With the weekend now I intend to go through them and fire off the first letter on Monday.

Hiya, I think I may be a bit dim, but, do the charges that we are claiming back include the charges made for Guaranteed Card Payments i.e. switch and also the account charges each month £28.00 - I'm with the Royal Bank of Scotland, any help or advice please, ta.0

Hi there
You only get charged £28 for going overdrawn the rest of the charge must be made up of your £6 royalties account service fee. this £6 charge you can't claim back. If in excess of your overdraft by more than £25 or in excess of unauthorised borrowing ie no overdraft then you may be liable for referral charges of £30 per item paid up to a maximum of £90 per month so check and see if any items were honoured for you - remember though if you issued switch or used chq guarantee card then bank obliged to pay them
hope that helpsLove my job in the bank and am proud to say that, however I only do what is right for the customer no matter what, probably why I am on top of customer service nominations by my customers :A0 -

Hope this helps but some things to bear in mind
Some people are claiming back their charges for card misuse fees. RBS changed the name recently to guaranteed card payment fee - these fees are £35 a time. Now you must also bear in mind that if you abuse your switch/maestro card it can be cancelled by the bank and you will only be issued with a cashline card. My suggestion is to not issue these type of payments without funds being in your account first as you may get stranded without your card - yes they really do cancel cards like most other banks so if you are experiencing these charges then try to alter your ways now as the bank really won't be sympathetic in relation to these charges - good luck whatever you do though o.kLove my job in the bank and am proud to say that, however I only do what is right for the customer no matter what, probably why I am on top of customer service nominations by my customers :A0 -
I have just gone through my statements and my total charges for 6 years comes to £817.83. Next I will draft the first letter.

hi
Having already started my claims i'm also trying to sort out my mum's too...
she has a royalties account recently she hasn't been overdrawn so her charges have been the standard £5 then recently rising to £6 ....i realise these cannot be claimed, but looking back to 2001 when she was at times overdrawn her charges vary so much...sometimes being £20....she called the bank to find out what they consisted of but only got the answer that the royalties monthly charge went DOWN to £5 in Aug 2003 (i think she got a little tounge tied bless her ) i was wondering if anyone here has had a royalties account for some time and know what the monthly charges have been in the past and if they have ever been as high as £20 per month....also whether or not the £20 could infact be the monthly fee whilst having an authorised overdraft, if this is correct would this £20 still not be reclaimable
Many Thank
Nel
