  • Hi

I'm claining charges back from RBS about £650. On checking my statements, they did refund £100 a few years ago as a good will gesture as I had gone into the bank to complain. But can I still claim for the rest of the charges?

Has anyone else come across this. If not do you think I should say this in my letter.....luckily I had just over 5 years worth of statements so won't need to order them

    Shandi

  • Not really the help that you are after, but we are having a similar problem, we wrote to N & P and asked for charges back and they replied with a firm no, stating that on such a date in 2002 they refunded us a £28 charge back and in 2004 they did the same, so basically no they wouldnt refund us the other £3000!!! But we are stil going to take them to court, well send the letter threatening them anyway and see what happens.

    Good luck

You can claim for the rest, no need to tell them just make sure you take the £100 off your total.
  • I have sent first letter to RBS requesting refund of default charges. They have acknowledged letter and say they will reply in 6 to 8 weeks. Do I have to wait this long or should I go ahead with second letter threatening court proceedings
  • i think the gerneral rule is to work by your own time scales not theres.

    Go for it :):)

I have written to my branch of RBS asking for the all penalty charge slips they have sent me in the past, or at least a note of charges, and then I sent copies of everything I sent first time round. Twice now they have just sent me past statements (on which there is no mention of penalties or charges - they always came on a seperate slip). I have requested the charges and sent the cheque for £10...which they have not cashed as yet...but all they do is send me the my statements!

I got a letter the first time stating it was not possible to duplicate the charge slips and USUALLY the charges appear on customer statements.

Where do I go from here? I'm annoyed but stumped. Is there any point in making a third request?
