On another tread , little miss thrifty, you wrote about getting free range eggs. Where was it? I need to find a reliable source...all the local butchers can not guarentee theirs to be free rangeWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
little_miss_thrifty wrote:Vivw, i have found this website, maybe interesting for you and anyone else in this area of Suffolk - https://www.greenlivingcentre.org.uk
It lists many farmshops etc. I usually go to Hollowtrees in Semer or Hall Farm Shop in Stratford St Mary, near Dedham
Thanks a lot for that. Often go past the one at Stratford St mary as the border morris side I dance in practises at the Parish rooms there. BY the way anyone want to join a border morris side...we need new members. Very OS way to get fit !!!We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Hi all Suffolk OS'ers
Back at work today so only just got home.....then had to search to find the thread, it had disappeared!
Vivw - free range eggs, there is a place at Henley, called something like "Happy hens". They sell eggs from the farmhouse. You can see all the hens out in the fields next to the farm. If you leave ipswich on the Henley Road it is just past the Henley cross roads, oppposite the garage on te left hand side. Or, if you know where the clothes barn is in Claydon, you just keep going past there, take the next right to henley, twisting little road used by many as a short cut, this brings you out at the cross roads. You can see the hens in the field at the side.

Queen.Bess wrote:Yes they do! And they too are delicious! They have a wide range of PYO and it's always worth checking their website for what they have ready for picking.
On a slightly different matter: What fruit and veg stalls do people recommend at Bury Market? Sometimes I come away disappointed with what I've got, but it can be very hit and miss!
Hi im from Bury St Edmunds and i always go for the fruit and veg stall on the corner near Thorntons they have the best quality but not always the cheapest avoid the one outside the main post office next to the watch stall i got some grapes from them last year and they went horrible after a couple of days but if you go there at the end of the market they do the best deals a crate for £1 or £2 but make sure you use them up that day
As for your earlier post there is a farm shop at westley about 5 mins drive from the town (im not good on directions but my OH is if you need them) but it can be expensive especially the potatoes but they are good quality and they have PYO strawberries etc the people who own the shop are really nice and helpful
Does anybody know where you can get cheap sacks of potatoes near bury st edmunds because im paying £10 for a 25kg sack at the farm shop0 -

Marriages Mill shop is just off parkway near the army and navy roundabout. It is also very good for buying pet food but you have to buy in bulk. I love the organic strong bread flour that they do.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I didn't get out today after all.
I went to bed for some much needed shut eye. Was bliss!
TY for the Leigh bakers tip. Parking round ther is a nightmare but will certainly try when I am over that way!

Morning all...or should I say afternoon.
Hope you are alright.
I managed to get loads of seeds planted yesterday and have made room on my kitchen window sill for them. Got tomatoes, cumcumbers, peppers, chillis, basil, corriander, rocket sown so far.
Need to get OH to come with me to get some large bags of compost so that I can fill some tubs to start off lettuces, radishes and spring onions.
Are you growing anything this year? Anyone recommend any good independant nurseries? We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0
