Trust you, Sian. How did you find the thread? I'll look for the weigh and save [scoup and save ] next time I'm there
Found one butchers and one greengrocers in Felixstowe. Went to Holland and Barrett where they have dried cranberries on offer...looked at the cost of their dried yeast and its 39p for a double sachet, over double the price of MR T.houseboatdream wrote:If you are going to Felixstowe this afternoon i can recommend the Sausage Shop (don't know its proper name) and a farm Shop, both are at Trimley. If you get off the A14 at the Trimley turn, go up towards the Trimleys then turn right at the roundabout (left is towards trimleys and Felixst) the Sausage SHop is immediatly on your right just after the roundabout. The Farm Shop is further along on the left. The mushroom farm is on the left too but I'm not sure they do sales to the public.
Found all the places you mentioned but didn't stop as it was pouring and I felt exhausted. Will go back another day when its nicer weather and look around
Have realised that even before coming on this forum I was quite OS and my kids were certainly bought up in an OS way. The OS ways only really started getting forgotten since moving to Suffolk, six years ago. Am really enjoying baking and being more OS about everythingWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

It's the 3rd Saturday of the month and it's great! I've been to Alder carr farm a few times and can certainly recommend it, in particular during the summer months when all their produce is cheaper and they have PYO. Last year I discovered tayberries - they're delicious!
I do like going there, but it's a shame it's not closer to home. I just wish there was a farm shop close to Bury St Edmunds. If someone knows of one, please let us know!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109

Queen.Bess wrote:I too am from Suffolk, Bury St Edmunds in fact, and would love to hear people's recommendations of farm shops or markets from this region! I go to King's Lynn a lot too and would love to find good farmers markets or farms shops up there!
Alas no scoop and save anymore, I believe it's an Art Gallery now! (If I'm thinking of the same place as Sarah!)
If you come up the A10 to kings lynn, you will pass a village signposted stowbridge - there is a butchers there thats fantastic, weve used it for years, not alot more expensive than tescos, but the quality is fantastic.Always on the hunt for a bargain0 -

I work so can't get to markets & the such like. Am home with my depression today & tbh don't think I would want to go to the market at the football ground. Esp as the 2nd time I went there I got my purse stolen.
I was saying to DH I want to avoid the supermarkets but its hard to avoid them. My local shops are Morrisons/Tesco/Sainsburys...
I'm happy to meet anyone local to me. Or if anyone local to Southend knows of any good farm shops please let me know.
Lisa
Dont know of any farm shops in Southend - there is definately one in Hockley/Hullbridge. However if you ever pop into Leigh there used to be a couple of nice green grocers (hope they are still there havnt lived there for 2 years).
If you ever take the kids over to Marsh Farm or Tropical Wings then there is a nice farm shop in front of Tropical Wings their fruit and veg is lovely.
Must admit only used to go to the Roots Hall market when I worked nearby - isnt pleasant and only used to buy from the sweet stall!
Oh and the Chinese grocers down the ridgeway is lovely.0 -
Morning all in East Anglia....
What are your plans today? I'm hoping to go and get some compost and some of those plastic things you put over seed trays, so that I can plant some of my seeds this weekend. Am determined to grow some veg/salad/herbs this year. Going to keep it quite small and concentrate on using tubs and grow bags this year and then if that works develop further next year.
Also need to sort through some items to either put on e-bay or freecycle. Then of course theres the dreaded housework. However must be careful not to overdo it as I did yesterday....also need to remember to phone consultants secretary as she has promised to give me some information today

Hi everyone.
Unfortunately, although regional threads on individual boards do sound like a good idea, we do have a board specifically for questions relating to particular areas of the country. There is nothing stopping people from having 'old style' regional threads on those boards, but any threads specifically for people who live in a certain area will need to be moved to the relevant board.
This keeps all the threads on the Old Style board accessible to all and allows people to find what they are looking for on the regional boards.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Welcome to all those who find their way here....lets keep it goingWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0
