Yay! How exciting! So lovely to be able to share the countdown with you girls Jessycat and Groovychick!

It will be nice to have some people to chat to without annoying my work colleagues with wedding talk for the next year and a half!! My family all live down south and I'm Leicester. My chief bridesmaid is in Lincoln, one is Liverpool, so have nobody really close to share all my wedding gossip with!

    Can I join in too?!

My and my fiance have been together for 9.5 years now and have been engaged for just over 4 years! We were saving for a house and finally managed to buy our first home last May. So that has meant we could finally start putting money aside for the wedding!

Was getting fed of people asking when were finally going to get married, as they didn't seem to understand that we couldn't afford a house and wedding at the same time! Made it my new years resolution this year to finally set a date. We spent a few months looking at venues and have finally found the place!

So we're getting married 26th July 2014! Extremely excited! Have booked the church and the reception venue. The photographer has been booked and we've designed our own save the date postcards and managed to get them printed for £13, instead of the £70ish pounds I was looking at for some horrible pre-made ones.

Not really thought about the rest of it too much as it seems just a bit too early to start thinking about the smaller details. Not really looking forward to going dress shopping. Being plus size has never really bothered me before but the thought of dress shopping is freaking me out as I'm imagining not being able to try anything on and being made to feel like a right heffer! I'm looking forward to having my dress and feeling great in it, just the process of finding it that I'm not looking forward to.

Thats very similar to us weve been engaged 4 years and i think everyone had just about given up but we bought our flat at the same time we got engaged and we were still at uni so just didnt have the money for a wedding

Also a plus size but im hoping to loose a lot of weight for my wedding...watch this space

Are you a teacher? The summer holiday comment made me think if you are me to! Just noticed your name might be more obvious now haha

How did you manage to get save the dates sorted for that price? Thats great

I am indeed a primary school teacher! My other half proposed on new years eve of my first year of teaching so I wasn't long out of uni!
I too want to lose some weight, but am being cautious about it. Lost around two stone in quite a short period over a year ago and ended up with gall stones, which my doctor said had come from the rapid weight loss (I was doing slim fast for a long time). So I'm being a bit more careful with it. I'm not that bothered about my weight generally, but more the sales assistants in the bridal shops. I've heard stories of people being rude and I just don't want to be made to feel rubbish! I'm never going to be skinny and I'm ok with that!

We designed the Save the Date cards ourselves and my OH is pretty nifty on the computer! He just used some kind of photoshop template and we made a back and front image. I had quotes from different printing companies and most wanted around £60-£70 for A6 glossy cards. My OH works at the uni we both attended so I thought I'd look on their print shop webpage and it turns out they randomly said they could design and print wedding invitations. I wasn't sure what kind of quality to expect so I emailed and they said they would produce some proofs for me on different cardstock. They gave me 8 of each on gloss, silk and matt card and didn't charge me! The quality was excellent and when they quoted me £12.40 I snapped it up! And they had them ready the next day. Very impressed!

    Whereabouts are you guys located?

Were in scotland in south lanarkshire - does the uni print place only print for students or are they open to everyone? I want save the dates for some family members but dont want to pay a fortune.

My weight does bother me but im trying to just cut out all the rubbish and loose it gradually. Im never going to be an 8 but id be happy at maybe a 16.

seen a couple of posts from plus size brides like myself and couldn't read and run!

I can highly recommend curves and couture bridal! Because of Jo I have 'the one' and feel like a princess!

When you go there you have a 2 hour private appointment and try on dresses in your size not have the dreaded experience of having size 10 dresses pinned to you!

they are based in Essex but I can assure you this bridal boutique is well worth the drive!

Hi all, I've been out dress shopping with my mum over the last few days & I've got 2 firm favourites!!!! They were in the 2nd shop I visited & are both from the same designer (Enzoani). Tbh I'm not sure if it would be worth while even looking at any more dresses - I'm just comparing everything else to these 2, and have even started planning hair, make-up, jewellery, etc around them.

Have to say I had some concerns about the sales assistants having heard some scare stories. But I have to say, I needed have worried. There were def no snide comments, some were really lovely, and they were all focused on getting me a dress which I liked & which suited my shape :-)

They are open to the public. They have a designer who can design them for you or if like us you know what you want you can just have them printed. Not sure if all unis will have the same facilities. Definitely worth contacting them though. Saved us a fortune!

Thanks for the dress links Caz. Nice to hear good reviews!
