I have my dress :) some might think its a bit early (I'm July 2014) but it was a bargain and looks so lovely, just what I wanted, really simple, relaxed and bohemian with a floor length vail. Really light too as Im getting married in Rhodes so it'll be hot. I just love it!

Hey everyone, hope you are well! kelbag that is horrible but also lovely iykwim! Bets of luck for your wedding :)

Bought my dress today!!! It is so gorgeous, a-line, strapless with a sweetheart neckline, with nice neckline detail, ruching over the stomach, lace up back and the most beautiful embroidered train :D

I first tried it on a few weeks ago, went back today to see if I preferred it to my more recent favourite and realised I did and really wanted it! It had been discontinued so had to buy the sample, oh well saved some cash and the alterations would have probably needed done anyway :)

Even better - my lovely grandparents, who were down visiting, told me they wanted to pay for my dress! They are well off and giving as a very generous gift towards the honeymoon but it was so unexpected that they'd pay for my dress. They were willing to pay for the other dress I liked, which was £1,400, so they saved some cash as the one I went for was only £500 when reduced and they paid for the dry cleaning and some of the alterations needed (I'll pay for the hem and bodice myself closer to the time). Very :money::money:

  • Got mine today too in a sample sale. I only went to try some styles to see what I like but ended up getting it. It's an ivory halterneck with sort of pleated detail on the top and round the waist coming out of a crystal detail on the waist area.

    'Tis lovely

So much has happened since i last posted... Everyone has been busy!! Haven't done much planning as we ended up with a quick holiday in the Easter hols and been settling back into work routine (Im a teaching assistant).
Went to try on more dresses today... I know Im looking for something in chiffon that comes straight down with a little detailing and a sabrina neckline (like lacey overlay effect)... Had one I wanted to try that I've seen in wedding magazines (passed to me by another bride :D). Tried it on but it was one size too small. Want to show my mum and bridesmaids anyway... Neckline and bust had definite wow factor but skirt was had to judge as slightly bunched up around my hips... Trying to find it in my size now but have been warned samples aren't often that big (Im looking for a 14). Reluctant to take the risk and buy it anyway as i would lose the deposit if it wasn't right! Its 895 in the shop i went to today and that is more than i think i would want to pay anyway. Seems to be from the 2012 collection but not been successful finding it preloved yet. Not really sure what to do!xx
  • Hi im a new one,

Just posted an into in a new thread so wont bore you with it all again.

Im going to hopefully be a Oct/Nov 2014 bride (we haven't booked yet)

We have the dates in mind and a lot of ideas but im scared to book as that means committing to paying it all haha!

We want the local church for the ceremony, and a countryside hotel for the reception.

Scary as visiting wedding fayres last year with a friend who gets married in a month and when I gave my date it was all 'ages away' but its now only about 1.5 yrs so I really need to get my !!! into gear. I have a busy life which doesn't leave me loads of time for planning so need to get started but im scared!

    Any tips?

    Kirsty
  • Would say best thing is book a date. We were waiting til we had some money saved, but found that if you do that there's always something that needs paying for eg. car maintenance etc.

Once you have booked, you HAVE to pay for it so it encourages you to save more and spend less!

Other than that, start drawing up your ideal budget, guest numbers and guest list etc.

Also what type of day you want - formal, fun, relaxed.

Then you can start to get an idea of how much will cost.

Well folks I've been mega busy since I last posted.

Tried on loads of dresses but still not found the one. Off to another shop tomorrow, sorted kilts and suits, was struggling to find a shop that could get the correct tartan but I won free waistcoat hire from filling in a form at the wedding show.msure enough when we went to see them they have the exact kilt we need and have honoured the cheaper prices as they changed at start of april, rent 5 outfits and get 1 free too so feeling very chuffed.
My reception and venue are sorted as I have bought a complete wedding!!! Cut a long story short I saw a lovely birdcage on eBay and ended up exchanging emails with the seller. I have basically bought her whole wedding including bird cages, rose trees, bridesmaid bouquets made from foam roses,2/3/4 tier cake stands, loads of vintage tea cups and saucers as well as loads of bunting and teapots plus loads more!!! It was a very large investment but it was everything that I wanted and matches my colour scheme. My friends have suggested I hire some of it out prior to my wedding to recoup some costs so if anyone needs any cheap vintage hire props in west midlands/Worcestershire let me know.

I have sorted my colour scheme now but still need to go and look at bridesmaid dresses. I have seen some lovely ones on monsoon but think I may wait till they go in the sale :-) I never pay full price for anything unless I have too. I've been selling lots of things on eBay that I've picked up cheap so trying to make a bit of money!!!

Hope everyone is having fun planning!!, I still need to sort a photographer, this will probably be my extravagance as I don't want to end up with rubbish piccies!!!
