Welcome to all the newbies!
teenyhev maybe try looking out for deals on vistaprint and photobox etc... Often they'll have deals when you only pay the postage. Some may have restrictions on how many per household but i just used my mum's address as delivery and that worked!
angel11 i love the idea of brooch bouquets - have seen examples of some fab ones! Good luck with it
And legogingerninja everyone I've spoken to says you won't have enough time to do your own cakes really. Hats off to all those who manage it!!! I'll let MIL worry about it
squish, i'm hoping to go this weekend to a sale. Would love a Sincerity dress and love so many of their new season stuff but worried it'll be out of budget so hoping to try some older styles onI've emailed beforehand though and they seem really nice so feeling better about it!

I ended up going to a sale event for dresses today... There were some amazing bargains but nothing that was right so going back at the end of April. Ruled out princess and a line dresses as i felt there was just too much dress... In case i fall in love with anything way out of my price range does anyone know (or can point me in the right direction) how i would go about looking for preloved dresses?
Seems like I'll be going for something fitted and either satin or lace with a bit of being but no "faff"

Hey, just realised I've not posted for a wee while, tbh not done too much wedding-y stuff the last couple of weeks as been very busy!
I did go for my first proper dress shopping experience on Saturday, with my mum, sister/moh and two of my three other bridesmaids. I'd tried on a couple of dresses previously but not made appointments before. Think I've narrowed it down to a shape/style nowthe funny thing hstrug is that it's the exact opposite of what you're looking for! As in I always thought I'd like a simple, lace, slim-line dress with little sleeves or straps. But after trying on some lace dresses, they just made me feel a bit meh. Then I tried on some a-line strapless very very "bride-y" dresses with trains - and totally loved how they looked with my body shape! Shows how valuable trying everything on to rule stuff out is
Hows the venue hunting going Squish? Oh and welcome to all the newbies!
I'm having a humanist wedding, and the celebrant sent over a sample ceremony, but I'm really keen to write as much of it as poss, write our own vows and pick our own readings, so have spent all week looking for secular readings online as opposed to looking up caterers which is really much more pressing at this point in time!!
Oh and I ended up switching to blue for my colours, my engagement ring is a sapphire and the thought that the colours would match my ring just tipped it in favour of blue... lol!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Can I join in too?!
My and my fiance have been together for 9.5 years now and have been engaged for just over 4 years! We were saving for a house and finally managed to buy our first home last May. So that has meant we could finally start putting money aside for the wedding!
Was getting fed of people asking when were finally going to get married, as they didn't seem to understand that we couldn't afford a house and wedding at the same time! Made it my new years resolution this year to finally set a date. We spent a few months looking at venues and have finally found the place!
So we're getting married 26th July 2014! Extremely excited! Have booked the church and the reception venue. The photographer has been booked and we've designed our own save the date postcards and managed to get them printed for £13, instead of the £70ish pounds I was looking at for some horrible pre-made ones.
Not really thought about the rest of it too much as it seems just a bit too early to start thinking about the smaller details. Not really looking forward to going dress shopping. Being plus size has never really bothered me before but the thought of dress shopping is freaking me out as I'm imagining not being able to try anything on and being made to feel like a right heffer! I'm looking forward to having my dress and feeling great in it, just the process of finding it that I'm not looking forward to.0 -

Oooh exact same date as me, guess you've gone for that date due to your job?
I am sure you won't look like a heffer in your dress at all.
We've only got the church and reception booked. My oh is a wedding photographer so he's on the ball with all the ideas for the wedding and we know what we want, just need to organise it all right now. Like you though, I still feel it's quite early.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.
Busy saving for my wedding July 2014.

.
I've always wanted a summer wedding, so it was never really an option to be any other time. But as we will want to go on honeymoon after, it makes sense to have it near the beginning of the summer holidays. I think I have perhaps given myself a week or two between breaking up at work to the wedding. Wanted a a couple of weeks to do all the last minute prep etc!
We debated a mid-week wedding as I'm off for the summer anyway, but I've got family all over the country, some having to travel from N.I and Scotland and some from down in Plymouth so wasn't really fair to expect them to take potentially three days off work. I was worried they wouldn't come then!0 -

Hope the next 16 months flys by for us.Can I join in too?!
