Squish - how did you get on with the venue hunt today? I would never have thought of universities! If you're not comfortable using the one you work at (don't think I would be either) then what about another one - loads of them in London.
Have a great weekend everyone - spending mine at our church's marriage prep course tomorrow, then researching music options on Sundayxx

Hi Heather
Only just seen this so I hope this is still timely. I'm a Superintendent Registrar at a large Register Office so have experience of hundreds of weddings and only recently married myself. So; Watch the costs! Remember that whilst it is a gloriously important day it is only one day. do you really want to spend the equivalent of a house deposit on one day? Don't get hung up on tiny details; by all means plan but the day will not be a total disaster if the napkins are a slightly different shade to what you wanted. It is a stressful time; a falling out with loved ones and friends could be forever. It is your day but you are not the only one involved; be respectful and considerate of the needs and experiences of others. I could go on but will leave it at that. My wedding was about £2,500 with a hundred guests and all concerned said it was the best wedding they had ever been to; fish and chip van, punch and judy show, cheap hall with a bar that we decorated ourselves. it doesn't have to cost a fortune for a brilliant time.

If you're going for July or August, I would get it organised quickly. I'm a teacher, so was pretty restricted to dates. Our venue is a summer weddings only (May to September) so I made sure we booked as soon as we got home after viewing, there were two other teachers amongst the other two couples who were viewing it at the same time as we did. We've booked 26th July 2014 and have it booked since the end of August/early September last year. Many of the August dates have gone already and the July ones are starting to disappear.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.
Busy saving for my wedding July 2014.

This happened to us too! What date are you getting married?
It's so exciting seeing it in print on the Save the Dates - that was the point at which it felt really "real" for us!MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0
