Hello, I was lurking (sorry) so thought I'd offer a bit of advice!
£10k is not a low budget (same as mine) but it's also not huge so you have to basically decide what your priority is for a venue.
e.g. do you want all 80 in the day? do you want a 3 course meal, wine, canapes etc?
So for me personally, we actually decided we really wanted beautiful food etc (OH is a total foody) so we cut our guest list to 50 daytime to be able to afford it (wasn't hard for us though). We simply could not have got the quality we wanted for 80 people on our budget. However if you really want all 80 there, are you happy to go for a simpler style meal, e.g. still 3 course but not such a fancy place? or even just a buffet, DIY style set up?
We also went for March to get a much better "per person" price. In August our reception would have cost actually double. No joke.
Hope it helpsOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

Hello everyone!
My lovely OH proposed on Friday and I've been such a whirlwind of giddiness and excited ness every sincewe were on holiday and only got back late last night so not done much research yet but dying to get stuck in.
We need to work out finances/how much we can save up by when, but we'd love to get married late Jan/early Feb 2014. If we can't realistically save enough by then it might be early summer 2014.
SO excited to be joining you all in wedding planning, going to go back and read older posts now for hints & tipsPart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Hi guys, new to this thread as I've been on the 2013 threads instead, but we've put our wedding back a year due to losing our choice of venue for this year. Not too big a deal waiting another year though, and having been to a wedding fayre at the weekend, still feeling excited0

Ooh, sorry to hear that you had to put your wedding back, but fingers crossed you find something ten times better for 2014

Hi Everyone,
I have been engaged for 5 months now. Wedding due on 1st August 2014 although I am hoping to do it on a 2K budget:eek:, so that we can have an amazing honeymooon. I have found a gorgeous little church for the wedding and so I'm hoping prices on this aren't too horrific. My bargain so far is wedding reception room £130 from 12 in afternoon til 12 at night includes staffed bar has seperate toilet facilities a stage everything and we are completely free to decorate as we want.
Trying to be as mse as possible but still make the day special, I want the marraige not the wedding.
Good luck everyone x0 -
