Hello everyone,
We're hoping to be married in 2014, at first we wanted May but now I'm leaning towards Christmas time.It will give us slightly longer to get the money together is part of what I'm thinking! We have a few ideas for venues, we were runners up in a wedding competition recently so the venue has given us £1000 off any of their 3 packages. However we still need to see what will be best value for money between the venues we have locally etc. It is a beautiful venue but completely different to what we have been looking at. We are also in Kent!
Unfortunately, we need to move out before we can start booking anything and I am out of work at the moment which means I don't have anything to save! :mad:0 -
I don't suppose any of you have thought of what you want for your table decorations yet have you?!
I was thinking sweet trees... our favours were going to be sweets anyway and doubles up as a centrepiece... the quote I've had is £76.50. Don't know if this is good value for favours and centrepieces?!
We are also considering just going to the cash and carry and getting boxes of penny sweets to put into cheap jars from our local Trago Mills... but I am completely lacking inspiration for ideas for the table decorations. We have been told we cant have any table confetti and i'm not into the birdcages (they look good but it isn't us!)... has anyone seen anything nice they'd be willing to share?!

Hi Hannah - welcome to the 2014 club.
We are having cake pops as favours which will also double up as place names as each will have the name on. We are making these ourselves and for the 50 we need its costing about £10.00.
For centre pieces we are just getting 7 square glass vases and putting a flower head in water in them which is costing about £2 per piece and then putting them on glass mirrors (http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/mirrors/wilko-mirror-circle-set-19cm-x-3/invt/0269615/?htxt=qWGNEsETsgUkOumAG%2BBFLruejoa9Td2aYS3NY5Hn2lKimPjyePksNWjPgXh9O1LRrbxuUmJMcMAD%0AD6uC%2BfBLvw%3D%3D) with some tea lights (you dont need to light them to get the effect) and then sprinking flower petals on the glass.
The centre pieces are going to cost approx £40.00.
So, all depends really on how much work you want to do against the costs for someone to do it all for you. I want to do it myself as I think it will add to the excitement (or you could read stress).Getting married 14.06.14 :j0 -
Hstrug, someone on another thread was making her own sweet trees, but I can't remember who now. I'm sure it'll come up if you search the forum.
I'm itching to start booking things and trying on dresses but can't help feeling its a bit soon! Also want to sort insurance first, anyone got any recommendations?0 -

I also felt it was very early to be looking at dresses, and was even a bit embarassed to admit my wedding was 2014 when I went into a dress shopThe ladies I spoke to in three different shops said they already had a few dresses put away/orders for 2014 brides :T
At a wedding fayre recently a dress shop owner told me 'our' summer 2014 season dresses will come in in January. The season after would probably be too late to order from.0 -

joining you here, hoping for a spring/summer wedding, kind of a complex one though as I have to wait for my American visa to be approved before I can really plan too much as we wont know a date til then.0

I got married abroad recently and used a fantastic florist that provided foam and silk flowers. Wonderful idea as i took them with me abroad but also as they now sit beautifully on my mantle, and last forever. PM me if you would like details of website, they post worldwide.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820
