Anyone having a 2014 wedding?

Is anyone else just slightly wishing their lives away? Obviously there's still a long old way to go and a lot to do and a long engagement was the only option as we have some serious saving to do, but realising that there are still 2 christmases before the big day is a little depressing & I'm eventually going to run out of things to plan. I'm having a bad week & just wishing it wasn't all quite so far away. Sorry to be miserable!0

hi sammylou
I think pyschologically, we'll all feel better once we are in 2013, then we can all say we're getting married next year! yay!
Then we probably will all wish it was 2012 so we had more time to save and organise, lol.
I find sometimes that there are TOO MANY choices for weddings, ie. I just went on ebay looking at wedding favours and there are thousands of different ones. It makes deciding what to have all a bit daunting. A bit like supermarkets - years ago in the 1970's (ha ha, showing my age now) you could go and buy a strawberry yoghurt and there were just one or two choices - now it's like - bio, low fat, creamy, fromage frais, extra fruity, smooth etc etc. I think you get my gist - sometimes the choices are overwhelming! It makes you doubt your decision as I like so many of the things.
Me and future hubby are real sweets and chocolate fans, so might take the cadbury purple and silver route, with loveheart sweets and maybe a pick and mix style table. If we don't pick some sort of theme, I guess we'll just continue to deliberate on colours, favours, place names etc etc.
Mrsd - hope that all goes well sorting out another job, it's not easy these days as everyone knows, sending positive thoughts your way.
compbunny - I think I'll leave the cake stacking etc to future hubby, he's far more patient with anything like that.0 -

I think you are completely right on that one, right now it's 18 months away, but when its 'next year' that sounds much better!0 -
Hi guys -thanks for the comments, am not going to let it get me down, not much out there but I am not a proud person and I will take any job I can as long as I am happy and the bills are paid. :j
I am still going to get the wedding I want, we were never going to spend a stupid amount of money but as this is my first and only wedding I want everything to be right. I have waited a long time and yes I remember the 70's supermarkets (they didnt even open on a Sunday!!!) and everything will be fine.
I have been looking at favours and lucky for us the lady who is doing our cake for us is also doing cake pops - these will be individually named therefore no need for name place settings - they usually cost £2 each but she is doing 50 for £15 which is great and so much fun - who doesnt like cake on a stick :rotfl:
Now just looking at centre pieces, planning on making these myself so busy looking for cheap and cheerful.
Yep it does feel like wishing my life away BUT I am a massive stress head and doing little things now hopefully will mean less stress at the end and besides its sooooooo much fun:jGetting married 14.06.14 :j0 -
Feels like I am also wishing my life away. It's not something I've ever really done before, so it's odd for me to want to get through a year so quickly. In fact, I was close to compromising and instead planning a cheaper and less 'us' wedding for 2013. But, after getting back online (have been to busy with work to read things) and reading through all the forums and that I am on I am back to being happy with the original plan of 2014!0

I got engaged May this year and booked our wedding for 24th May 2014!!
So excited and so far have organised the venue, the photographer, the registrar and the cake (my mum)!
We aren't really working to a budget but I have put rough costs of what I would ideally pay for each thing.
I can't wait to go dress shopping but I will wait a year in advance as body shape and styles may change.
Loved reading all of your ideas, and a lot of you are so organised I am kind of stuck at what to do next.0 -
Congratulations everyone0

Another 2014 bride here!
We set our date yesterday, although we hadn't really planned to! We had a date and venue in mind before though, so it wasn't booked on a whim. We decided to talk to the vicar at the church after the service yesterday, to see if we could get married there (OH is Anglican, I'm Catholic) and he asked what date we had in mind, checked the diary and it was free so he booked us in! So, we're getting married 6th Sept 2014
We've pretty much decided what we want with regard to venue, food, entertainment etc, so we're just trying to work out our budget and sort insurance before we start booking everything else. So excited!0 -
Yay for setting dates!!!
This week I've been very good paid the deposit for the videographer/photographer paid the deposit for casino tables and dj
I've also emailed our venue this morning asking if we can have fireworks as me and h2b have recently started doing voluntary work for a pyrotechnics company so fingers crossed we can
Can't wait until next year we can finally say we're getting married next year instead of in 18 months time

I would really love to have a videographer but I haven't found one which is a reasonable price. The cheapest I can find by browsing online is £500. I live in Kent and getting married in Kent also, can anyone recommend or suggest where I may be able to find a forum?
Thanks
Nicola0
