Try not to worry TRUEBLONDE....when you are more into this you will start saving money I'm sure. Carboot sounds good especially if a local event on at same time. I also do the earth hour every eve to help planet and save a little on bills. I was also looking on another thread and am gonna start a money road-kill jar, just to see what I get (not a lot as drive, but you never know) gonna do it for a year as an exercise.

NSD today..made chicken pie..was meant to be chick soup...dunno what quite happened there....sigh....more calories.

Gonna go as phone crashing again.

    Keep going all

Walk away from the purse. :T (you know it makes sense)
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

sorry to waffle on but I know you all understand ,

well done to every one too .Alison

    Yes we do understand.

Many is the time I've done a car boot to put food on the table when we've been really skint:o It's a great way of earning some quick cash.

Do you have any of those cash converter places in your town. I took a load of old tosh last week, CD's, couple of old cameras, computer games - got £40. They offered £30 to start so I had a little haggle. I wouldn't have got much more on Ebay and a lot less fuss.

Any scrap metal lying around - no I'm not suggesting you strip the lead from your local church.:rotfl:

Scrap metal is fetching good prices at the moment so if you are having a declutter and you have metal items that you would normally just take to the tip, it might be worth trying the local scrap metal merchants. They pay by weight so the heavier the better.

I have about 4 boxes of odds and ends ready to go. I have sorted them into copper, brass, stainless steel and "don't knows".

Any broken bits of gold jewellery? I sold a broken chain and an assortment of odd gold earrings and made £35. Again payment is worked out by weight rather than workmanship.

If you can raise enough this month to clear the payday loans, continue with the fiscal fast etc then next month should be easier.

Then when you've got a bit more time you could try Ebay, Auction Houses etc

Have you gone through your bank stuff and made sure you've cancelled any Direct Debits you no longer need. Check through all your coats, handbags, back of the sofa - you never know.

Summer is on it's way (please say it is I'm fed up with rain now), so hopefully lower gas and leccy bills for a while. Can you grow a few bits of salads, veg etc.

To soften the blow perhaps you could tell your DD it's a summer time thing and that you might be able to review the sky package next winter. We often cancelled at the beginning of the summer and then renegotiated again in the autumn.

Just milk, bacon and some reduced veg today.

:) i think according to most sources its at its best price so maybe when a few yrs ago it peaked at top rate , like most things do everyone was selling etc... and now the price has dipped a bit due to an influx of this, maybe i am wrong but thats what usually happens, if you have anything i would sell it now and get a good rate:)

Another tip T.blonde. When I had my dog he used to always want to walk into the village rather than out I think coz he could smell all kebab and pizzas lying about ,on a weekend. So,that is the way we walked,I could sometimes find as much as £7 just lying in the road after people nights out! If you have a dog maybe change your route to past a few pubs and takeaways.........just a thought.

I think that doing the Fiscal Fast could well change the way I live and spend forever.

First I reckon that I must have saved around £150 on food shopping. TBH I must have been seriously overspending because I can truthfully say we have not suffered a drop in our living standards. Actually I think we've been eating better because more thought has gone into what we are eating.

I've stopped mooching round charity shops - probably saved at least £10 a week there. I really dont need 'anything. I was just buying stuff because it was a bargain.:o so we're up to £190 saved so far.

I've planned my trips and journeys and spent less on petrol, say £10 saved. That takes us to ta-da....

    £200 saved last month.

All the time I've saved by not trawling round shops I've put to good use by doing some decluttering and then selling some of the clutter. Total sales last month. £240.

So thanks to Fiscal Fast I am £440 better off. :j:j:j

I have treated myself to some new bedlinen about £60 (in the sales of course), a pair of shoes £16 and a little necklace £10, a couple of DVD's for OH, so around £100 spent.

This month I want to reduce food bill by another £50, do some decluttering and see how much more I can sell.

Thank you so much for starting this thread. It was just the kick up the derriere I needed to get me started. I will never go back to overspending on food and bits and bobs like that ever again.

Today I will be buying some more bed linen, maybe a few towels and then do a bit of stock-up. Then hopefully another Fiscal Fast next week.;)

By the way TruBlonde I meant to say well done on telling your OH about the payday loans. That can't have been easy. However, now he knows he'll perhaps be on board with the Fast too.

Good luck with the car boot this weekend.

sorry to jump in - im a lurker on threads and love this one.

Just a thought but near us a firm buys bags of clothes, shoes or soft toys My daughter just took 3 bin bags and got £25 so a quick earner if need be. I think they do it by weight but don't take bedding or some other things. May help trueblondeknot out.
