made blackcurrant compote from last year's allotment glut in the freezer last nite.
and am making a lentil, feta and beetroot (allot too) for lunches today:)
I lurk on here - I admire you all, but I'm not joining you as I travel too much for work for this to be achievable. However, I was inspired (on my 36 hour break at home between trips) to make a lentil, feta and roast veg salad for lunch by this post - using up beetroot and carrots I would have had to chuck, feta from the freezer and half a tin of lentils (I will freeze the rest). The feta will keep until I'm back on Saturday, and I've had a delicious meal, saved time and money when I would normally have nipped out for lunch as there was nothing in...0 -
I had a good day baking and making food but was getting low on my soya milk, and have a busy weekend planned so nipped into Sainsbury's after popping to see my brother...so only managed 2 nsd's!
However my bill only came to £1.64, despite getting £24 quids worth of stuff - no I didn't stoop that low :rotfl: I used a £20 gift card they gave me after finding a beetle in my salad :eek:and £2.50 of my nectar pointsAs I considered it extra money I wouldn't normally have I bought lots of bad things including some pecan and butterscotch icecream, expensive unrefined sugar and a box of cadburys fingers :j Also picked up reduced bakery stuff and have squeezed into the freezer
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
Day 2- spent nothing again today.
Stir fry for tea, leftovers boxed up for lunch tomorrow and still got a portion of soup left for Friday.
Dinners planned for the rest of the week to use up what we have and to avoid the supermarket!
So far so good! :jTotal Debt: 1383/ £8121

days 2 and 3 not spending
Did a longggg 13 hours at work yesterday hence why I didn't update. Packed lots of sandwiches and nibbles from cupboard.I have explained what I am doing to my colleagues and as I drove they paid for the car park:D So my purse stayed closed tight..
Today has been a NSD too , packed lunches instead of buying lunches is a BIG help. Pie and mash kindly cooked by OH as I am shattered .
Tomorrow is day off but meeting a friend for lunch, she too is fully informed of my purse staying tightly closed. As I am helping wit decs for her sons wedding she is treating me to lunch.
Feeling bit guilty and mean but determined to reach Friday not opening my purse. As Friday I am on a night out with my best bud (this doesn't happen often) for a karaoke but planning ahead I am only taking a small amount of cash and leaving purse and cards safely locked at home.:A .Fiscal Fast = 7 NSD out of 9 days

Hi all,
just checking in... 3 NSDs since Sunday, but yesterday was such a lovely day, and only day off DH and me will have together for the next week, we went out for a walk and coffee. Picked up some bits for DD to make truffles ( she will reimburse in part) and filters for the fish tank.
Getting through my week of low earnings, have an extra half day Saturday so that will help, plus won't be spending then:).
Haircut tomorrow and shop for essentials, but going to put beetroot on the list, love the sound of that salad!
Everyone doing the challenge looks to be doing really well. I might try another week just before my weekend away, to boost the spends!
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Day 3 for me. On the back shift so taking stir fry leftovers for dinner. Took a huge rump steak out the freezer for our dinner tomorrow.
It's my last day at my current site on Saturday, so rather than spending money on chocolates I thought I would make a big batch of cup cakes?
Think the key for me is menu planning. We have so much food in the freezer but would still nip to the supermarket nearly everyday!Total Debt: 1383/ £8121

evening all!
you're all doing so well:T
I've been missing for a few days - the result of an extremely busy week at work plus 3 visits to the dentist:eek:
Have broken the fast once - but only for a couple of pounds for some yellow stickered stuff. I managed to put £30 into our holiday fund last week:T but this week the fridge and freezers are pretty bare again so will probably need to do a bigger shop this week.
I've defrosted the last friendship cake which tastes better now than it did when I made it for some reason.
I hope JackieO has had a nice holiday - I'm looking forward to her posts when she gets back.:)
Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Day 4 for me and have managed to spend zilch, nothing, nada!!
Got my eggs today from friend as prearranged at the start of the fast for £2.20. Hav amazed myself by the "eclectic" lunches I've been having and have even finished some biscuits that I don't like rather than buying nice, new ones.
Excellent news tonight as I have been credited £5 on my Debenhams Beuaty Card so can treat my wizened hands to some nice hand cream.
Well done us!2012 Saving challenge £1000/£400! Woo! :wave:0 -
First the good, met up with friend today knowing that i needed cat litter and milk . My friend asked me to help her with some displays and bits for her sons wedding. she wanted to pay me for my time ...i said no ad so guess what she paid me with cat litter and 4 pints of milk:D. she is threatening to tell my manager what i would except for wages for 4 hours work lol.
Then day gets worse...payday tomorrow so sorting out money, short for paying bills due to payday loans(been done in secret from OH) has got bad. through tears I opened up to OH:mad:
LESSON LEARNT. So every penny saved from this challenge is paying off these .sky package going to basic as well (gonna cause trouble with dd).Any other ideas guys ? Have weekend off so may sort out stuff to sell as lots of carboots around due to Flower festival in local town.
tomorrow though need petrol, gas ,electric and £10 for night out (only do this maybe once a month).
sorry to waffle on but I know you all understand ,
well done to every one too .AlisonFiscal Fast = 7 NSD out of 9 days
