Afternoon all - its freezing here so I hope that its better with you. I am not doing the ff at the moment - guests about to appear fro a fortnight so its not practical - but i am trying to cut costs down to a minimum. Nipped into work this morning and was startving by lunchtime - without a canteen to rely on. With my ff hat on I rummaged in my drawer and came up with my emergency mini meal tin of spag carbonara - not the most tastyish of meals but it filled a whole without emptying the purse.

Off now to bake for the visitors.

Darn it, will have to restart the fast probably the day after tomorrow, as I had to go to the doctor's this morning and was prescribed something which thankfully I bought over the counter for half the cost of the prescription!

Tomorrow I'll be going out to choose a new kitchen and as I'm spending money on petrol for that journey, I may as well get a few bits in one of the many supermarkets I'll pass along the way.....I forgot about that trip until a short while ago. Oh well.....Wednesday is another day!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on this thread for ages and finally decided I need to join in! Spent £40 in Asda on Saturday and then another £35 ish on Approved Foods yesterday, so enough is enough! There's only two of us, so I think we probably have enough food to keep us going for ages! I am planning on going as long as possible without spending anything, and then maybe allow a £10 a week top up, as we will need fresh fruit and vegetables and probably some milk. Looking forward to taking part!

Oh, and while I remember - I noticed a lot of people are saying they are running out of milk. Why not try making oat milk? It's really simple to do and tastes fine over cereal, etc. And I'm guessing most people have at least one bag of oats lurking around the cupboards!

Day 2 well it was meant to be a NSD today but my DGS were so good this morning helping me clear up in their house from the week-end that I took the three youngest down for a ride to the seaside this afternoon and I blew £4.00 on 4 cornets from the ice cream parlour there.Well worth it as they wern't expecting it and I was so pleased with all of their hard work and efforts in helping me so although I bought no food stuff I suppose it comes under 'Granny's treat for the lads' Two of them hoovered and one tidied the toys away and the eldest cleaned my car so I thought a treat was in order.Back to normal tomorrow :):):)

Thank you for your reply and sorry to hear how much people are sruggling when DH in home,it's awful, however you do sound very clever at managing this I have to say.
I am going to look up making soda bread, thought about making butter but not sure if would be more expensive as haven't done it as yet.
I have grow lettuce on windows and herbs but the cat either eats them or sleeps on them and I have no where to hide them from her here as it's tiny.
I do have a shared garden and may ask others if I can grow stuff or if they would like to start a food garden if we are allowed, but would hope someone has more idea than me.
Cat is VERY fussy ,has dried mainly JWB but that isn't that expensive,it's the wet that kills the spend, she will only eat certain types and then only really licks the gravy off. Tried giving hergravy but think she is oposite to me and loves all the aditives, may try the gravy thing again though thinking about it.
Thanks agin for the ideas you have just given me!
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

    Hi all, day two.
Had to and get flippin W up Liq,so that was £1.80ish,but I hadn't planned to do this so not too bad I guess.
BUT......I am 'pond fungus' as also got 10 fags £3.32,am really annoyed with self and am pathetic. Tried to counteract this by walking to shop and not using petrol.
Also ended up on a magnesium sulphate site othe wk when looking up a home cure 4 something I have and found you can mix a bit of this in with your cleanser and you have a facial exfoliator so did this and it's good.
Also have resisted HUGE erge to get some wine,so this whole thing could end up with me having less lard too, however that is gonna take longer than a couple of these weeks.
Before this I would have just gone and bought a bottle without much if any thought,so this is working:)
