day 4 well hopefully it will be a NSD today as at the moment I'm just pottering around indoors.Just put a line of washing out and had a search through the fridge for dinner for tonight I decided as I have quite a bit of salady stuff I shall whip up something to go with it I found a tin of tuna flakes and a tin of sweetcorn in the cupboard mixed together with some mayo that will do for the 'meat' part of my salad I'll have it with lettuce, toms, beetroot, cucumber celery and some grated cheese that should be quite filling enough for me and the rest of the tuna/sweetcorn mix can go as a filling for a jacket spud tomorrow night when I come back from my London trip. Two days meals sorted and it hasn't cost anything I still have some jam crumblies left in the lock 'n'lock box I may take them with me when we go up to London on the train tomorrow as a little snack for DD and I along with some bottled juice .I don't like buying stuff at the station its far too expensive.Onwards and upwards chums

The weather here is awful so am going to just have a nice quiet day pottering about, decluttering and playing at being a domestic goddess.

So of course that will be another NSD:D.

Will need to shop either tomorrow or Friday but I'm so pleased that I've done this challenge. I never thought I would manage 6 days without spending anything. Just shows what we can do when we put our minds to it.;)

I think I will try and make a list so that I when I do my next shop I can make sure I get it right and then try another 7 days without spending.

If I can get into the way of doing this on a regular basis - just food shopping once a week I'm sure it will help keep me on the straight and narrow and stop me wasting so much money.

One of the nice little perks of this is that I seem to have gained so much extra time.

It's great reading all your tips and strategies. Thanks for sharing.:D
  • I know I was supposed to start the other day ...epic fail on my part:o.

Oh dear, fell off the wagon again! I was up half the night coughing, so after I'd been to Quaker meeting I popped in to B**ts and got some cheapy cough lozenges, and put £10 on my PAYG phone while I was there.

Then, I decided to look for navy shoes for DGD's wedding next month. What were my best shoes have cracked across the soles (basically died of old age - bought them in 1995 and have worn them and worn them!). Found some in M&S, not too expensive, but bought 2 pairs, as worried that the heeled sandals that I'd chosen might be a mistake once I'd been on my feet for a few hours. So I also got a pair of flats in the same colour. Next I got a smart new handbag, also navy, big enough to carry the spare shoes in. Last, I got a little fascinator, having tried on a few hats and had a laugh at myself in the mirror (I've never been a hat person!)

Talk about a big spender! (But didn't buy anything else - meals, as is the routine lately, all out of the store cupboards and freezer etc).

I hope the rest of you are all getting on OK!

Hi all......day 4 and no spend.
Kattikins,I don't know much about this site but would there b a thread somewhere giving advice on the kitchen senario? You will love it once it is done tho.
Sounds like the concrete was in fact a roaring success in the end! I must have put too much of syrup maybe in my flapjack as is in fact inedible and could easily be used to put a window out,is in bin as want to keep my teeth.
I too am going to do a weekly list,I do anyhow, but end up straying often but will be trying to stop this.
Have run out of cream 4 coffee so back on ginger tea(more slimming too so an added bonus). Have 4 slices of bread left which is ok,had 2 REALLY happy eggs from my uncles farm for lunch with soldiers and tea will be something out of freezer. Have milk and some cornflakes left so food-wise I should be able to finish this week. Also have various joints still in freezer that I can use and still some veg so may even be able to do the easter sunday roast with minimal spend. I may try to carry this for 10 days if i can.
    Well done all
And I feel like I've lost weight, not bn on scales yet tho!
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Had a spend of £10.38 this afternoon. Needed some baking bits (flour, sugar and chocolate buttons) and some other bits and pieces. Daughter wanted to make some cookies, it's not very often she wants to cook and it also meant we had a bit of time together.
I'll have to go shopping on Saturday, normal shop day.
Justs looked back through my spending diary and i'm glad i did, i am so pleased. I have spent £21.36 since the 25th March. That is totally unheard of for me.
Thankyou all for the inspiration :T

day 5 for me. NSD today as my DD is taking me out to lunch and the theatre.I have some left over tuna and sweetcorn in the fridge so I will probably have that tonight in a sandwich if I'm peckish when I get home.I am hoping to get through to Saturday again before i have to go near a shop.Shopping once a week is really doing me great as I can now get more done indoors and less chance of spending any cash I have become quite inventive with my food yesterday I peeled and slice 4 slightly wrinkled appled and stewed them in a little honey for 10-15 minutes and strained them off and covered them in thick gloopy custard so no puds to buy I would normally have bought some yoghurts by now.Tomorrow I shall do some more baking for my tins and probably make a lasagne and some chilli and portion it up as I have quite a bit of minced beef in the freezer so I can see at least 4-5 portions of that which will sort out a few dinners for next week.

Day 5 for me too! :)

No spending so far as I have been ill! Had to cancel the dental implant as all the glands in my neck were sore and swollen, on anti biotics Ooops that was a spend on Monday but an essential one. My appetite has been low so not tempted at all to eat much. I have made some soups though, 1 a day in the slow cooker (so I don't have to stand at the cooker). Yesterday I popped some of the wrinkly apples in with some water and sugar, Have enough to make a couple of apple crumbles for dh. I shall have some of the apple with some yogurt for lunch, after some of the soup that is. Stir fry tonight to use up some noodles, prawns, sauce and veg from the veg box, followed by apple crumble for dh, yogurt for me.

Due to being ill I didn't get to my Aunt and Uncle's ruby wedding party! :( As I couldn't get a gift or card to them in time, I sent an email to my cousin and included a few of my memories as a bridesmaid. She read it out during the speeches and it went down very well, the happy couple phoned to say that they found it touching and amusing. :) So a free gift/card that only took a bit of time to write. Might be an idea for someone in similar circumstances.

Winchelsea - you are allowed to spend on your wedding outfit! Sounds like you have a lovely outfit all ready for your dgd's big day. Hope that cough goes away soon.

firesidemaid - My upright freezer door didn't shut properly last week and so I am also using up stuff so I can defrost it and get rid of the ice build up! Luckily it wasn't for long so all the meat was ok, just the cakes needing eating right away! (That's my excuse anyway!) ;)

Everyone is doing really well, great savings being made!
