  • Hi all,
just popping in quickly, had a NSD today as both Mr MM and I forgot to buy a paper!

Lisa, that was good going today with your day out for £2! I managed ony to buy ice creams yesterday when out with DD, £3.60 in total so not too bad.

Jackie, your day out sounds fab, all the better for being a frugal one.

DD made us a salad for dinner, so will have butterbean bake I'd planned tomorrow, plenty of food in for now although only spent about £27 on food this week (but about £40 on drinks and bits for DD's party!!!).

Firesidemaid, I love walnut whips. I would have bought those if I'd seen them. Enjoy.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend, keep watching the pennies!

a broken walnut whip (or two) a day keeps the doctor away...:rotfl:...... isn't that how the saying goes?;)

liberated a bottle of corn oil from the baking cupboard to go into general use as cooking oil.

salad for lunch. freezer contents for tea - potato croquettes instead of roasties.

    have a lovely day all:)

  • Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good Easter. My mum goes home tomorrow morning and we have no more visiors or anything planned for the next wee while - so as of now I am joining the fast. I'm going to try and get through to next Tuesday at a minimum.

I've just checked my purse and it contains £46.93. I have a veg box delivery due on Thursday (already paid for - and I won't order one for next week as we've got plenty of veg at the moment) and I'm allowing £1.20 for 4 pints of milk in a couple of days: and that's it! I'll report back the contents of my purse each day just to keep me on the straight and narrow!

Tomorrow's meals will be: porridge for breakfast, spiced green pea soup and hm sourdough bread for lunch; left over lasagne for dinner.

    Have a good evening all.

Well I'm giving this another bash! (But may have to get prescription this afternoon).
I spent about £11 on veg, fruit and milk yesterday so will be living off what I have other than that hopefully. I made a load of granola the other day which should see me through 7 days, some tuna fish cakes with some old potatoes and have two left for today and maybe tomorrow, also made some carrot and s.pepper soup with some old carrots that I would have normally binned which will be two or three portions.
I started out kind of doing this for fun,but am possibly/probably looking at having to have a couple of operations soonish and I am terrified that I am going to end up on half pay as due to my job I have to be pysically ok to do it.....so if this were to happen I want to be in the routine of not spending. Plus, what's the point of spending or throwing things out when you don't need to!
I have enough petrol so shouldn't need to spend on that and am back at work this week so have no plans to be out........hopefully (discounting prescription) I will manage 7 days this time.
Good luck all.....walk away from the purse:)

I may have to get a few bits and bobs today. I really wanted to wait until Thursday before i spent again. It's mainly for packed lunch for hubby, he does like to take sandwiches. I only have two slices of bread left and nothing to go in it! Will have another look to see if i can find anything.
Will let you know if i have a spend.

Have you looked in your local newspapers forever saving? In the selling pages in ours - they're always selling b & q's last seasons kitchens for about 70% off, just thought if you can find something like that - you wouldn't have to sacrifice any cupboards!
    Rubbish at the grocery challenge!

Well I still haven't open my purse apart from four icecreams last Monday week, so I have £96.00 in there for shopping for the rest of April.I only have 18 more days until I go away on my spring holiday break so I will be only buying strict fresh bits if I can.Last week was great as Thursday I was out all day and friday I ate from the freezer.Saturday I was up in London for the day and my sis-in-law bought lunch (it was her turn) and I had taken some bottled OJ to drink on the train and a small pack of cheese biscuits fron my larder for nibbles .Sunday I had cereal for breakfast and a cheese omelette for lunch,Sunday dinner was at DDs as usual I had taken an apple crumble ound as my contribution towards pudding.yesterday we all went out ,even though it was raining and went to Ightam moat and knowle House as I had NT tickets and my grandsons are on them and my DD has an 'admit one' extra card as my 'carer' We took a picnic and flask so the day out was free andbecause the boys had lots of chcolate left over eggs they wern't bothered about having sweets. It was far too cold for ice creams and the NT shop didn't sell anything they fancied anyway so yesterdays day out cost was nil:):)
Today my son-in-law is off of work so I haven't got the boys and I will be going to the shops to buy something at last .I have checked the cupboards and at the moment all I need is bread,OJ, some bleach and disinfectant and maybe some oranges.I can eat from the freezer and fridge with whats in there at the moment so I'm not doing a big shop at all.
Tonights dinner will be lamb chops from the freezer with veg and new potato's from the veg rack.I have two pasat their best bananas in the fruit bowl so they will end up as a banana custard for pud I think. So tomorrow will be day one of F/Fasting .I want to see if I can get some more cash into my holiday spends this month. Its amazing how focussed you become and also how just by looking into your stores you can see what you can knock up out of almost anything.I think I'm turning into my late Mum she would have been brilliant at F/Fasting as she had over 10 years of rationing under her belt.
P.S. Just remembered I think I will make some of those crumblies today as I know I have a jar of Christmas mincemeat in the cupboard adn tomorrow, thursday and friday I am looking after my DGS and they have hollow legs :):)
  • Hi all,
as anticipated this is being a bit of a spendy week, with DD's 18th birthday party tomorrow, but we have put together some homemade eats, so not as bad as it might have been. Also out for the evening yesterday with some visiting friends, so unused to this now I felt tiddly on 2 glasses of wine and couldn't get off to sleep! I'm a sad muppet.

I will have to shop for food on Friday, but after that kind of looking forward to having another go at the FF.

Good luck greent, calicocat, 7ww and anyone else starting out.

Jackie, you have had some supermoneysaving days. My mum would have been good at this too!

    Have a good evening everyone.
