  • Had a lovely day today, I didnt get out into the garden as it decided to rain. So I had to go to Aldi and buy a few top up bits, but it only came to £16.00 and he paid for it. So it didnt cost me anything for a change DS wants Take away but I dont want it! So I am trying to avoid the subject. totally!!! Went to the dogs trust fair and had a look around nearly adopted another dog but DH just walked off. And yes I caved in as it was for charity amd spent about £12.00. On raffle, dog jumper. doggie treats, bric a brac and refreshements. I didnt take the dog but I wish I had! But we are all back home now. Sorting out and cleaning up the mess.
Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

    Hi everyone

Am doing well but then realised I have no cheese, so just popped to the local shop. Also got the milk I know I'll need in the next couple of days, so hopefully that's me sorted now for the week.

Decided on the local shop. The milk and cheese may have cost a few pence more than going to a big supermarket, but then less petrol, less temptation to buy anything else and much, much quicker.

I think if I do need anything I might do the same again - just use the local shops.

I don't know if anyone else does this but often I find if I go into a supermarket for a couple of bits I can end up spending £20 or £30 on "bargains" that I could probably manage without. :o

    evening!

JackieO - sounds like you'll be having a busy week - hope you and your DD have a wonderful day x

I had to spend 69p today:D forgot to get mushrooms with the weekly shop so when I was shopping for work I sneakily got some Aldi mushrooms for myself.
I'm working 6 out of 7 days again this week so not much tome for shopping.

Didn't get round to making the crumblies yesterday and had no time today as have been ultra busy but I will do them this week.

I hope that the Bristol meet went well for those that went.

hey everyone. I did our monthly shop today £115 :T do need to get a couple of bits from the butchers, have one more veg box to be delivered but going to postpone it for a week and use the frozen stuff I bought today. So that's it other than a couple of bits from butchers & fresh veg and that's it! Should easily come in under £140 for the 2 of us (and an extra one a few times a week)

Am so happy I have this thread, not only am I not spending more than we can afford on food, I am gain about 3 hours a month by not being at the supermarket :T lets see how I do....

  • Hi everyone,

just had a lovely dinner, Quorn curry with a sauce given to me by my boss - we both do AF and give each other bits and pieces -poppadoms, sliced banana, nice glass of wine!
Better than a takeaway and much cheaper. Did spend 75p on some broccoli on my way home today as wanted some fresh greens for tomorrow's dinner.

Jackie, sounds like you will have a lovely day out next week. I won a London theatre break last year, and took my daughter with me to see Mamma Mia - we had a fab time. I would love to do it again.

Lessonlearned, know what you mean about the supermarkets - and there is always the queueing to get out, stand there wishing I hadn't bothered.

Lisakay, sorry to hear about your OH, hope you will be in a position to arrange his operation soon. Best of luck.

Day off tomorrow, so will probably be a country walk and maybe a coffee, busy week at work to follow so not too many oppportunities for spending!

    Congratulations all it’s going well.

The food planning has been going well I feel organised, and I’m hoping to shift a fair few lb’s its needed.
I checked the bank account and smiled for a change! We can go to Costco and can head away for a couple of days. It’s a lovely feeling.

We’ve got a very clean house at the moment, trying to find ways of keeping busy without spending anything.

you'll be pleased to know that i'm no longer feeling sorry for myself:o I'm not normally a sadsack;). I will be back to FF after tomorrows shop. I brought home 6 pints of milk from work yesterday that would have gone off over the easter break(now in th efreezer), also half a pepper, a few strawberries and a few slices of turkey.
the kids snaffled the strawberries before they even made it to the fridge (they much prefer fruit to sweets:j). have used the turkey and pepper up in sandwiches yesterday and today and a turkey stirfry for the kids tea tonight.
I made a cracking curry for my tea using butternut squash that has been in the cupboard for approx 8weeks, an unknown squash from the lotty that has overwintered quite happily in the garage, 1/2 a cauli that was looking very sad and some spinach that has been in the freezer for at least 2 years!!! i had one portion for tea saved one for tomorrow and there are 4 lots for the freezer.
i still have 2/3 of each of the squash to use up so i might make a risotto with some of it and freeze the rest.

keep going everyone, you're all doing so well xx

No I went to sains at 5 for their reductions & offers, then I went to lidl and finally I went to asda for their reductions. In lidl I got a 1/2 leg of lamb for £6 which will do 3 meals & a 1.2kg gammon joint for £4 again 3 meals :T

I don't really know how to do these forum things and I'm doing this on my mobile as don't have a computer,so bare with me,and may not even find this again but think I have saved the page?!. I am loving this idea and will be starting it tomorrow,I have loads of rubbish in the freezer and have been meaning to sort it for ages, have already taken any joints out to defrost and make casseroles with that will last far longer than roasting . I already budget fairly well I think and cook everything myself (not for cost but don't like additives etc). I am however terrible with electricity and tonight did the Earth Hour switching all lights off for an hour, well am still doing it except had to put a lamp on to do this ,and am going to switch them off for an hour each day from now.
Good luck to everyone doing this ,and I will certainly be spreading the word to my friends.
    Power to the penny :)
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
