DH told me snow is forecast for this weekend  So that was summer this week then
:rotfl: probably!
Guys am slipping.... walked home through town & thought "I'll just pop into Mr T and see if they have any reduced meat." Picked up a bag of cookies reduced to 50p. went round to the chiller and there wasn't any meat reduced so put the cookies back. Was thinking I'll pop into Mr A this evening and see if they have any good reductions, 10 mins ago was thinking about asking oh if he wants to go out for dinner and now the thought "I'll just see if oh wants to split the cost of a bottle of wine" has just gone through my mind.....DF as at 30/12/16

Evening all!
Just got through another day of the fiscal fast! Breakfast was yogurt with some oats sprinkled on top, really nice actually. Lunch was 1/2 tin of baked beans with grated cheese followed by an organix fruit pot, left from grandaughters visit, - apple and plum, must make some of these for myself next week, (heavy duty dental work) Dinner a stirfry using up courgettes, chinese leaves, a red pepper, 2 leeks, 1 onion, 1 large mushroom, some rice noodles and a pack of diced ham! I added some lazy chillis, lazy garlic and lazy ginger and it worked really well. Found a tin of peach slices for afters. The leftover peach slices should work with some porridge and maple syrup tomorrow morning.
My lovely neighbour gave me some rootings of her forget me knots, they started out in my garden (20 years ago and a gift from a friend who died some years ago) spread to neighbours garden which they preferred I think!:rotfl: Anyway I took a plant to my friend as the original donor was a very good friend of hers, so a free gift for a friend that needed a cheer up! :j
Right an early night for me, volunteer shift in the morning and I have to get to the dentist first to ask a few questions about the upcoming dental implant eeek!
I'm off for a soak in some nice bubble bath I have decluttered from a cupboard!
Keep going fiscal fasters!
Catz xOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Evening everyone.
Only spend for me today was petrol, trip out tomorrow though which may involve coffee or lunch - OH has a work trip, I may go along to help, on the journey we pass our fav. cafe in the county - danger, danger Will Robinson! (Anyone remember Lost in Space? Showing my age:D).
AF order came today, partly decided to make the order as DD's 18th birthday party coming up, so stocked up on snacks and soft drinks - will have to have a shop next week for everything else. A friend of DD's is making the cake as a present, and we are going to make some snacks ourselves, so main expense will be drinks.
Anyway - thanks DNM for info on libraries - I'll give that a try.
Menu today - muesli and banana, sandwich at work, also bit of cake, spag bol with mung beans - they get into everything!
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
Hello all,
Spent £1.12 today. This was because I had a Royal Mail card through my door when I got back from hols yesterday, telling me they were unable to deliver a letter as there was insufficient postage on it - 12p to pay, plus £1 charge. It was a mother's day card from DD2, quite a big one, but not as big as A4, and she'd put a normal 1st class stamp on it.
Other than that, my trip into town involved taking my library books back, and a little while spent in the park in the sunshine.
Food today was:
Breakfast - porridge with brown sugar.
Mid-morning - coffee and a satsuma
Lunch - fresh HM sourdough bread straight out of the oven, with a small cheese salad, then an apple.
Mid-afternoon - tea with one of my many packets of Special K chocolatey snacky things, bought a while ago from App Foods.
Evening - veg hotpot, with onions, garlic, celery, carrots, potato, green beans (LO from yesterday) and blackeye beans from the freezer. A little bit of spice and seasoning to perk it up. Delicious!
About to have hot chocolate before bed!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Oh my life, I had to cave to fresh food, if Tesco can be classed as fresh food, but paid in Clubcard vouchers.
The reason for the oh my life comment was the amazing ques for petrol they I was incredulous, I'm going to wait and hope people have filled up by the time I need it.!?0 -
i filled up the night b4 last and i was clueless at that point - can't believe what's going on - there may not even be a strike for another week:eek:
OH made the saus casserole yest and actually used up all the LO carrots and celery and said - there's a few portions for the freezer too!
the only trouble with this, is that within a week we have 6 more portions of food in the freezer....and i'm trying to empty it....and he doesn't do leftovers lol......lunches for me next week then;)
finished off tin of peaches yest too.
b/fast was a yellow stickered hot x bun from the freezer:)0 -
morning!
end of another week of fiscal fasting. I managed not to spend any more on food this week after I'd done my shop so was pleased:T
Last night we shopped but had to spend more than I would have liked as we had to get DH some of his very expensive razors. They last ages though so worth it. I still came in at just over ten pounds under budget so in 3 weeks I've put £50 into our holiday fund:j:)
Plenty in the cupbards for the next week so no more spends for me. I have also been buying 2 saving stamps for the supermarket each week for Christmas and so far have £20 saved:)
I'm going to make DH some Jam Crumblies this morning as a treat as we are off to his Sister-in-laws funeral later.
Have a good week everyone xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Easter service at the local church with my DGS Mikey this morning so NSD at all todaybut tomorrow is the last day of the month and I will need to go to the shop for a very small spend (literally only a few bits) so I am hoping to keep it right down and some cash will go into the holiday fund from left over cash from my food purse
Well done all who have been 'f/fastin' and even if you have had a slight wobble its not too bad as you realise where you have wobbled and will correct your balance as you carry on
Cheers fellow 'fasters' I think we all have done fabulously this month0 -
Thanks for the tip about the Aldi vouchers in the Daily Mirror. Went and bought paper yesterday, using the shop that sells papers 10p cheaper.
and am going there shortly with Nan shopping and checking out where I am taking DD and her friend for DD's birthday treat next week. Thank goodness I have enough petrol!
Not too sure when I can get back and join you, as it's DD's 9th birthday tomorrow and kids break up for Easter hols today. But will keep checking in for ideas for when I can come back.
Has anyone got ideas on what they are doing for free with kids in school hols, especially if they are older Primary or Secondary school age? I found it easier for free stuff when mine were little. My only free stuff so far is a holiday club run by DD's church group which is for 2 hours 3 mornings 1st week, we are away for BH weekend. I haven't come up with anything for DS aged 12.0 -
I spent $107 tonight at the supermarket (approx 55 quid) landed up buying quite a bit more than planned, but still not quite as much as an average week.
Lured by the irresistible charms of more tins of tomatoes, a big box of washing powder and some meat for stew on special offers, that I hadn't intended to buy. I also had a bit of a fresh fruit and veg frenzy and may have gone a bit overboard there due to deprivation but I am sure it will get used. Wow, I can have lettuce and cottage cheese again for lunch next week.
Hopefully anyway that means Easter shopping will stay within normal range as I'm not planning anything special and then I'll have another go at fiscal fastingMortgage
