A nice quiet morning off in a bit to pick the little lady from playgroup. Had a walk around the village with the dog, talked to some friends who bought me tea and a scone. We were talking about the fuel carry on, but all our partners work at Nissan, and have been told if it does happen they can buy their fuel from Nissan at current pump prices. I hope this doesnt happen I have had to knock the trips out to the park with little lady as it is miles away and I had to drive there. So one car is for emergency only [mine] and his is for work. So we are being fiscal there. Even though mine is a little Ka he insists on using his jeep!!! Work that one out. I have even stopped any days out which is hard. As little lady cant sit for long! And Ikea is out of the window. Why cant people just get on with their lives instead of causing all this trouble and strife?
So we are carsharing even to play group!!!! My turn 3 toddlers to go and pick-up. But i think we are all going to do it in the long run.
And a fiscal freezer meal for tea. And I spied a cheesecake that needs eating as well. How are you loty coping with this carry on. And who is at fault? Has it affected your fiscal outlook look if you are a car user? I would love to know.Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

OK it begins. However will not manage a whole 7 days because I will need milk and maybe some f&v. Going to have a good go though.
I was so annoyed yesterday - went through my fridge - mushrooms and cream had to be thrown away, also some bread had gone mouldy. What a waste - that could have been a couple of lunches or suppers of lovely creamy mushrooms on toast.
I must not do this again.
So today will double check fridge and make sure that there is nothing "on the turn:"
I'm actually looking forward to this. Still got to do my freezer and cupboard inventory.
But first I'm going to do some gardening whilst the weather holds. Have bought a blackberry bush and a redcurrant bush. I'm determined to grow fruit this year. Did ok last year with veg, salads & herbs.
Have a good day.
PS Edited to say - am going to have to be very frugal with car use. I need to visit my OH in a nursing home which is a 20 mile round trip - will have to reduce the number of visits to about 4 times a week - maybe even less - instead of the usual every day. DS2 also needs his car to get to work so he may have to borrow mine if he cannot get enough fuel.0 -
Morning all
DH was meant to to an office today which is a 170 mile round trip - and we're due to go to Cornwall on holiday tomorrow - so he's gone to an office which is a 70 mile round trip - so some improvement, I guess - although he could have worked form home... grr!
I thankfully managed to get some fuel today after our local garage not having any for the last couple of days. I had 20 miles left in my tank - which would have been fine and ordinarily I wouldn't ahve got any until after we came back from Cornwall - but I didn't want to take the chance of there being the strike then and being stranded for the next week with the 4 kids and unable to go anywhere.... I also spent a small amount in Tesco - a small loaf of bread, a 20p bar of choc for DS3 (we'd been out for over 2 hours at this point) and 2 reduced lamb shanks for the freezer (I always snap them up when reduced as they are stupidly expensive at full price)
Had to post a couple of things at PO too and picked up some number stickers for bins in Aldi and a 12 pack of water for hols 1.99 for 12 bottles)
Will be stocking up on 1st, second and second large stamps when I get back before the end of April's maHOOsive price increase.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
You are not going to belive this DH has sent me a spread sheet from his works on how much fuel I can afford to use a week. It looks like something I had to do when I was at uni!!! He has called it "Allies Fuel rationing plan" I didnt ask for it. So I printed it off went to the loo and found little lady scribbling all over it, as she thought it was a pattern to do!!!!
Why oh why do people have to panic!!!!! What would they do if they were told the world was going to end tonight. Go and buy everything out of the shop? Why do people lose all sense of rationale when things like this happen?
Anyway nice quiet afternoon so far. Chicken feed and dog food and any other pet food I need has been dropped off as it is cheaper to buy it in bulk. And then a ton of green slate was dropped off for the little garden area as the dog has knacked it all up. So I am going to be a little busy beaver over the weekend!!Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Headless Chicken Syndrome (HCS) seems to affect quite a lot of people. By panic buying they create the shortage they were panic buying about! If people just carried on as normal there wouldn't be a shortage. It's the same panic syndrome that happened with Tamiflu - people rushed off to stockpile, and there was a photo of a woman in the paper with half a dozen boxes spilling out of her arms, and the look on her face was typical of those with HCS. I do despair about the human race sometimes.
Enjoy your gardening this weekend - I hope the weather stays nice for it - DH told me that there had been a forecast of snow :eek:0 -
Yeah I heard that, a bit annoying if it does. The woman who had the tamiflu boxes did she look like she was staring into space. I used to work in the NHS when this first broke out. It was so bad, I had people calling and begging the surgery for it, disgusting. Then when I got swine flu, I got rushed into hospital as thre was no tamiflu about. I suppose DH is only trying to help. He is off to get some fuel now. He was going to use our little fuel store we use for our mini tractor but thats red diesel, so you cant use it. I suppose I could use that to go shopping lol!!!!Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

oooh cool thread:j
I have an Ocado delivery tonight so theoretically i've spent money so I shall have to start this tomorrow. The fridge, freeezer and cupboard will be full so hopefully I won't have to buy anything for a week. I'm hoping to go 10 days without a spend, but i'll probably need milk and bread before then so I shall put a fiver away just for that.
I also have a tank of petrol and where I can I will get the bus instead. I have a prepay Oyster with money on so I won't need to dip into my purse to top it up.
I need to seriously cutback. But with it being the Easter Hols, I fear going to free places with a nearly 15 year old just won't work.
The 11 year old is going to a lazer tag place but that was paid for today so again. I will have to do the no spend from tomorrow.
I'm confidentCapital one was £1000.00 now £0.00:j
Barclaycard was £250.00 now £190. 00
Asda credit card was £500.00 now £0.00:j
Aim to be credit card free by December 2012... Mostly done0 -
Well after 4 nsd days I bought shopping at Lidl for £28 today for bits and pieces to take away on our hols, only need to get some bread now and then all done. We shall be eating out a lot so need to use up everything in fridge. I would normally have thrown away 3 half stale crumpets and half pot of pate but had them both for my dinner washed down with a banana and peach smoothie with the gone over fruit Feeling really proud of myself but still a long way to go !
Make £200 by end of January... £20.42/£200
Grocery Challenge £200 pm Jan £0/£200
January no spend days - 1/310 -
NSD today!
Only trip out was a walk to S**nsb*rys to put about a year's worth of used carrier bags in their recycling bin (only one bag full, as I use my cotton bags nearly always), then called in at the pharmacy to collect my tablets.
Have had a lazy afternoon, reading, and then a bit of pottering in the garden.
Am out of milk, but have some powdered, so will try to manage on that for as long as I can. All meals today are coming out of the stores:
Breakfast - porrid#'e]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]erwwwwww (sorry - my cat Chloe just sent you a message!)
So, breakfast was porridge with dried apricots, and a pot of tea.
Mid -morning - two fruit scones that I found in the freezer, with coffee.
Lunch - egg on toast with pickled gherkins and a satsuma.
Pot of tea at three!
Tonight I'll have a packet of red pepper spelt, cooked up with some extra veg and with the remains of my somewhat dessicated cheese (which still looks and tastes fine), followed by an individual Christmas pud from App foods - twelve for £1 I think they were! (yes, I know it's nearly Easter!)
Forgot to add - I WILL be spending tomorrow, as I'm going to the OS meet-up in Bristol - really looking forward to it!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -

Gosh not asking for much then are they - i would like all these items too in my garden trouble is I have had to pay for them
I'm often amazed at what people ask for on freecycle - some people ask for an entire flat to be fitted out with furniture and electrical goods!0
