Hi all - well I've been reading threads for the last few weeks here and I'm going to jump in and join in withe FF. I've managed to get my grocery shop spend down to about £35 a week and now I'd like to see if me and the two littlies can survive on what's in the fridge, freezer and cupboards.
I shall need to buy bread (although only for packed lunches) but shouldn't need milk as I have a big tub of dried milk at the back of the cupboard.
Keep up the inspiring work everyone!Debt:None

I'm going to join in too, I have been reading this thread the last week, I will need to get milk and toilet rolls at the weekend lol. I might freeze some of the milk as only have it in tea, my daughter eats breakkie at breakfast club and I work during the day, so free lunch
....
I have done a meal plan for the next 3 weeks, payday on the 28th, hopefully going to scrap through until then, maybe need some pack lunch top ups for my daughter0 -
good evening all, well i passed the 4 days, but had to go shopping today, didnt spend as much as i normally do so that's always a plus. really have to try the next couple of weeks to ff as we will go to view a flat on Monday ,yay no more mold. it has a big kitchen which is something i have really missed, this kitchen has barely enough room for 1 person to cook in and it really stops me from baking, i would love to make much more from scratch and hopefully with a bigger kitchen that will be possible again. good night and keep at it xxx0

Wow, having just read most of the £7 a week thread I'm shocked that I'm still spending so much! Anyway, I'm pretty sure that I can do 7 days plus of FF and I shall use the time I don't spend shopping working out how else to get my costs down.Debt:None

It's Friday evening and my fiscal fast is officially OVER!!! Yea!! I am going shopping in the big city with my Dad tomorrow but, I don't have to get a lot of stuff. Just a few odds and ends. It is cheaper in the big city than at our local grocer's.
I don't think I will be spending a lot of money as I have most of what I need but have to get some food for my 'fur baby' (Cat). I may have to get some things to wrap my gifts, (My Mom and Dad are out of wrapping paper so I can't ask for some.)
I have an itch to knit so I am going to log off and go finnish the rest of my Mom's Christmas gift.Frugal in '14!!!! God Bless all of You!!! Frugal = 'Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!!!'-Saying from the Great Depression in the US 1929-39. Love you, Erica Dawn0 -
Good Morning chums, well the sun is trying to shine but its quite chilly at the moment.Lots of stuff to do indoors today so day one starts again of FF.I have baking & ironing to do this morning and also I want to do a stocktake of my cupboards to list all what I have in their.I list and type up each cupboard individually and stick to the inside of each cupboard door so its easy to see at a glace whats in there,I also do this for the freezer and stick it to the outside of the freezer with magnets. As stuff gets used I just run a line through it ,that way I can see at a glance whats left to use up.
Well done to everyone who kept their purses shut this week.,even if you had to spend a bit ,just thinking about your spending habits has made you cut back a bit I think.so well done to you all.
With the cost of food rising ,and I bet it will rise even more in the coming months ,concentrating on what you actually buy and menu planning ensures that you have little if any waste.Today I am in soup making mode as I like to make enough to last me for the week.So leek and potato with a dollop of sweet chilli dipping sauce is one I shall be doing plus some parsnip and apple as I want to use up some rather wrinkly apples from the bowl and I love the two flavours blended together, very autumnal:)
Have a great weekend chums and keep on hanging on to your cash:):)

JackieO - I'm going to follow your example and do a cupboard stock-take, and stick the lists on the insides of the cupboard door. This will also be an opportunity to clean all the shelves and put everything back tidily!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0

It's interesting but I think I have siege mentality - my mum always had stuff in the cupboards "just in case" and I do the same when in reality eating it all up and starting from scratch(ish) and buying what we need is much more sensible. I sort of meal plan cos my little ones are not very adventurous (despite my love of spicy and food from far flung places) so I can always guarantee they'll eat veggies and a carb and whatever protein they need. It's only me that craves interesting and exciting food!Debt:None

Hi everyone, just gearing up for an evening of Strictly, followed by a good book (such a socialite).
Welcome willow and Kellylouise, you both sound very organised!
Erica, hope you enjoyed your shopping trip yesterday.
Mam of five, hope the flat you are viewing is going to work out for you, you shouldn't have to live with mould these days. Good luck.
Thought I'd share my takeaway replacement dinner with you all - muffin pizzas and salad. Lightly toast the split muffins, spread with tomato puree, top with grated cheese, oregano and any other toppings you like - peppers, mushrooms etc (we prefer them plain).
Heat under grill or in oven until cheese bubbles, serve with salad of your choice. They are surprisingly tasty and cheap! My DD often makes them for her student friends.
I am another who needs to have a bit of a storecupboard, good idea to have a 'stocktake' , I know I should but hate cleaning cupboards - maybe will do one at a time.
I have made yet more apple cake today, and a couple of candles, craft fairs coming up early next month so I need to keep making.
Had to pop out for a paper and tobacco for the OH today, also managed a walk but no coffee - came home for one instead.
Jackie, your soups sound lovely, I will be making broth sometime next week, have meals planned until Tuesday then will do a further plan based on what needs to be used.
Have a lovely evening everyone.0 -
I'll have to try the mufffin pizza
, my dd wanted that for dinner tonight, no pizza in tho. I'm not organised haha, try to be
.
NSD, my friend gave me some milk yesterday, went to hers for a cuppa and it started raining so skipped going into town. My bf and his son are coming over tomorrow, they want roast, so I will ask him to buy the meat and toilet rolls whilst he is there.
Oh it's children in need on Friday, so £1 for non school uniform and some money for cakes after school. I have £20 in my purse, this is from selling a few items, so I'll dip into that.
It might not be for some but dead cheap to make, I did Slimming world for a while, you can make tomato soup using:
2 tins chopped toms
1 tin baked beans
1 tin carrots
3/4 picked onions.
Water (depends how thick you like it)
Put that into a bowl and blend it all up, you heat it afterwards. It makes a few servings.
I don't use the pickled onions, I use onion granules instead, I also put in garlic, mixed herbs, salt and pepper too. Otherwise it's too bland for me, I've done chilli before but my DD didn't like it (too spicy). Super cheap to make (I buy tesco value tins). HTH's someone. We had it for lunch today.
