Ooooh...Thank You Boultdj!!! I may have to take a look. I feel a bit of a sore throat coming on....I'm trying to fight it with lots of fluids and vitamin C. I DON'T want to get sick. Ugh...Well if it does happen, it will keep me out of the stores. Will look up Ravelry....
Oooh Boy....I have plenty of Yarn and a lot of time.

good morning,
well yesterday was a nsd for me hoping today will be the same, made my menu plan which i find makes it much easier other wise i can stare at a cuboard or freezer and still think i have nothing to cook x0 -
Day 6 and NSD this week.I am planning for Sunday late afternoon to Morrisons for my next day for doing a small shop as there is usully lots of reduced veg around 3.30 so I can snaffle some for soup making. At the moment its only veg I really could do with topping up.I'm down to the last cabbage, a few spuds and a couple of parsnips and some leeks .DD wants some leek and potato soup to take to work so I will make her some tomorrow morning and she can 'nuke' it in her microwave at work
I do have two slow cookers one small one that was given to me which is handy fir making a rice pudding in, and a 3 litre one that is my right hand in the winter.I can get a 3lb chicken in there as its oval shaped and the meat that falls off is amazing.I have certain things in my kitchen that I would hate to do without and a slow cooker is one of them In the winter I can put a stew on last thing at night and in the morning not only is it done beautifully but my kitchen is warmed up overnight and smells gorgeous.Anyone watching Paul Hollywood's puds and pies in the afternoon. They look delicious and some are so easy to make I liked the look of the Russian one made with rice and salmon the other afternoon it looks gorgeous.I may do that for my DDs Christmas night buffet
I think his cookery book will go on my 'wish list' for Christmas.(along with him as he is rather dishy ):):)
Onwards and upwards chums

Just been given a huge bag of dwarf green beans from my neighbour as his allotment had a large surplus. Also a couple of big courgettes as well.I have topped and tailed the beans and now have to try and find space in my freezer for them0

I am going to do my first ever fiscal fast from Sunday 17th November through to Friday 22nd- if I can eke it out to the Saturday I will but have visitors so not quite so likely. Am rather thrilled at the prospect:j:jAiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!0

Go for it Aril!
Been offline again but hopefully new internet provider is sorted now. Unfortunately had to spend £30 on a 'dongle' today as our pc is ancient. Oh well.
Spends since Sunday - OH's Christmas present, and £2.30 today for oranges, wraps and lettuce - and the dongle. So not too bad.
I have about £3.50 left in my grocery budget until December! Shouldn't need much but it will be a bit of a challenge.
Well done Erica, for avoiding spending. You are doing so well.
I don't have a slow cooker - might ask for one for Christmas. I have a sort of rudimentary haybox, basically polystyrene in a cardboard box, I tried it last year and it was surprisingly good. Must start using it again.
I'm not fiscal fasting this weekend, but won't be grocery shopping, just going for a generally frugal week. New job is quite useful as on work days I just want to come home and flop on the sofa!
Good luck everyone, and have a good weekend. MM.0 -
well ive had 3 nsd's this week, yesterday went to town with mam, normally would have been in all the shops spending but resisted, only spent on lunch was very chuffed with my self, hoping not to spend over the weekend but do need to pay some bills.

Well it's been a NSD today here at Gnat Bottomed Towers but that's not difficult as I rarely go in a shop on a Sunday if I can help it. I guess my mantra for the next few days will be Use it up wear it out make it do or do without!
Instead I've taken the opportunity to get the washing out on the line at it's been dry [haven't got a tumble drier] and cook a chilli in the SC for later on in the week using the last of some veggie mince and some reduced turkey mince which I'll then be able to freeze in two lots for different meals.
I have entertained myself by unravelling a fluffy scarf for the wool that I've been given and finding out how to make your cayennne pepper

Did a very small shop yesterday as I really don't have any more room in the freezer anyway.I topped up my veggies so no more shopping required this week at all.just as well as I have a busy enough week ahead.Good luck with staying away from the shops this time of the year is a very expensive time for us all,so lock the purses up chums and hang on to your cash if you can
