Hi all,
Just popped on to say I'm back at work full time but I'm still trying to hold on to my pennies!:)I am avoiding stopping at petrol stations and buying choc, not going to drive throughs and the like! I am still meal planning and not wasting food although now there is more money coming in we are having more fresh fruit and a bit of alcohol too!
We have only had one takeaway in the three weeks I've been back to work so I'm happy with that.
I made lots of soup on Sunday which will do my lunches this week and it is yummy and warm too. I have only done one little bit of christmas shopping and am planning to do most online so I can control what I am spending more. I have bought the kids new clothes as their legs keep growing at a  rate! I have had a new mascara and that is itpriorities of a mother eh?:rotfl:
Keep well, stay healthy and warm and don't let those shops entice you;)Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
Good morning chums ,well no food shopping bought so far this week,:):) and my food purse still has cash in it to last until the end of the month, not a great deal admittedly but at least around £11.00 odd. This will go into the holiday fund if I can last out until the end of the week.Should be fine as I am eating from my freezer and have nothing of importance to buy.
My Christmas shopping though has been quite good, and the amount set buy for presents and birthday stuff still also has some left.I have almost finished getting everything and only have a few small 'tree' bits to get for the grandchildren and I think I should have around £28-30 left once that's done.I have been very lucky, in that a lot of the bits I have bought over the past year when I have seen special offers on and also I had a 20% discout voucher that DD gave me for M&S which meant everyone's present that I bought in there actually saved me a bit of cash as well.:)win-win I think
I'm glad I haven't overspent at all this year and feel pleased that December isn't here yet and I won't have to shove my way around the packed shops.
Hope everyone is OK and hanging onto as much as they can during this expensive time of the year
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Good morning everyone
Recently I have really lost the plot money wise so really do need to get back on track. So I'm going to give the fiscal fast another try. OH is away with work until next Wednesday evening so I plan to make do with what I have in (apart from postage and a birthday card for my great nephews birthday )
So here I go and good luck to all of you other lovely people taking part too
Have a good day everyone

Hello- I am not FFing at the moment but am still trying to make the money I do spend go as far as possible. I have from time to time used mysupermarket site to check prices between stores but used to get a bit fed up having to flick between the different shops checking. I see it now does it all for you- it's meant that I have already saved 50p on my washing powder this week:j
Have learnt today that you can make bread in a slow cooker- new one on me!

Hi
Why is it as soon as I decided to save money the world plots against me doing it. I went in search of a birthday card and ended up buying some lovely little books and Xmas paper as well (on the up side I have now finished another 4 of the kids presents ) Today will also have to be a speedy day because I forgot a birthday
I save more money when I am not doing this challenge so I am going to try again in a couple of weeks and just try to be frugal rather than spending nothing.
OK grump over
Have a lovely day everyone

I have yet to try it but instructions are here. I saw it on a blog this week and thought I had misread it at first!

Hello Everyone!! I hope everyone is keeping warm! There is about 6 inches of snow outside and we are supposed to get more!! I think I may be forced to fiscal fast because I have trouble getting out in the snow with cerebral palsy! Just checking my mail is a challenge!
I also recieved a BIG BOX of food ( A BIG Ham, Bag of Potatoes, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, Wine and cookies!!) from my Church. It is good timming because my Dad is out of work and money is tight. It will be nice to have a real Christmas dinner. My Mom was wondering what she was going to do for Christmas dinner, now she doesn't have to worry about it!! Yea!!!
I am almost done with all of my Christmas gifts. (All hand made!!) Of course for me, the best part is wrapping the gifts. I have made it a tradition to wrap all of the gifts I am going to give on December 21. It would have been by Grandma's birthday. I put on Christmas music, grab my wrapping paper, tape, etc. My Grandma loved Christmas, so I do it on her birthday!!
Here's to yet another fiscal fast!!!Frugal in '14!!!! God Bless all of You!!! Frugal = 'Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!!!'-Saying from the Great Depression in the US 1929-39. Love you, Erica Dawn0 -
Nice to hear about the food parcel, and 'drat!' to the snow making it hard for you to get around.
Did you have a look at ravelry? I forgot to mention 'we' mse's have got our own little corner on the forum's over there, most of which are also on the knitting thread's here on the OS board's and it's lovely to see the prodject's people have been working on.£71.93/ £180.000 -
Hi chums all my presents are bought and wrapped, only have the cards to write out now.Very little food to buy as I have just done a revised freezer list and have more than enough to get me through to the end of the month.I am away for Christmas & New Year anyway so I am using up as much as possible between now and Christmas to get a few bargains hopefully late Christmas Eve before the shops shut or on Boxing day when they are reducing the Chistmassy stuff
:)
Hope everyone here has a great christmas what ever you are doing and we will all be 'frugalling' again in the New Year
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0
