Ok filling out the ISA transfer form. Need some help (never done one of these). I got £10,200 in my Barclays ISA which I'd like to move over.

Barclays ISA transfer address, anyone know what it is?

I just rang Santander as I wanted to open the account now (to get the 4%) and find out whether I could fill out the transfer form with the transfer date when my barclays 1 year matures (around 6th April).

    I couldn't do this.

How I interpreted the pleasent lady.

    You open the account.

You then have 14 days to transfer from other bank. If you don't transfer within 14 days then you can't transfer in after this.

You then get another 14 days (from 6th April) to get 2012/13 funds in.

My one concern that I want to find out is if there is any penalty with Barclays 1 year gold ISA_Issue 3 if I transfer it before it matures?

The lady at Santander also seemed to suggest that as soon as the transfer happend you will get 4% on it straight away. Ok only 15-20 days but better than being offered 0.5% like some are offering.

An interesting development, Cheshire Building Society are about to offer a 4.05% 18 month ISA
Damn it, it's new money only. :(
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

The Barclays Golden ISA 3 is not fixed time-wise. Just the bonus was fixed. You can move the ISA anytime without penalty.

  • Hi,

I have just opened a Santander 2yr 4% ISA for my husband with a view to transfer an existing ISA from Halifax which matured today.

I have never completed a transfer before and having completed the form on line, I added that I would like to deposit £5264 (transfer in) into the account, reading other comments, should I have just placed a 0 in the box?

I am awaiting an email/letter from Santander with a transfer form attached so I can complete it and hope I can make it clear on there what I want to transfer in from Halifax.

Once my transfer has gone through (£5264), will I be able to add my husbands new allowance for 2012/13 to the account, meaning I would have over £10,000 in there?

    Thank you for your help.

    Sue

    Yes you will.

I intend transferring ISAs from two different banks, then depositing my 2012/2013 allowance after the 6th April, as that is a bank holiday this year.
  • Another slight concern I had when I spoke to girl from Santander. She said the transfer had to be in the account within the 14 days.

I asked her 'what if the other bank (Barclays) delay the transfer for whatever reason? She seemed a bit baffled but eventually said it had to go into the account within 14 days, and if it didn't get in I'd have to just put the 2012/12 allowance in from the 6th.

I know that the transfers should happen quickly now but always chance of delays.

My plan is when I go to my Santander appointment next week is to open it and fill out the transfer form during the appointment so Santander can get it to Barclays straight away.

    Thanks for that evenasus.

Damn, and I've arranged a Post Office 2 year fix at 3.6% transferring funds from elsewhere. If the Santander deal had been available on 28 Feb when I applied to PO, well I wouldn't have gone. PO have applied for the transfer (had letter today). There is a 14 day cooling off period. I wonder if it can be undone once the transfer is in motion. I see the money is still in the original account [Barnsley] so not actually out get.
Further to the above, I have contacted Post Office and I am well within the cooling off period. I understand they already contacted the to transfer but they suggested I phone Barnsley to ask/tell them not to proceed with the transfer which I did this afternoon. I have written a letter to Post Office asking to cancel the ISA and the transfer in, which I'll post in the morning as I was too late for today's post.

Question - Is it too soon now to be applying online to Santander for their account? I believe I have 14 days in which to get the transfer request to them after account is opened (not sure if that is the day I apply online or a day they open it). It's just that it means there's 2 new ISAs applied for in the space of just over a week if I do apply now. I know there's no new money and there can't be for the current year as I'm fully subscribed to another for 2011/12.
  • I'm filling in the online application for this, and I reached this question:

How are you saving for this tax year?

The options are to send a cheque, move money from an existing Santander Savings or Current account, or 'No new savings'.

Is this right that, as I don't have an account with Santander, my only option to pay into it is to send a cheque? Is this typical?

I haven't had a chequebook in years and just assumed a bank transfer would be the norm.

    Many thanks for any help.
