fed_up_of_debt wrote: »Hahahha Know how you feel! I had a spate of selling on facebook sites and even sold old gold earrings and weighed in clothes just to see that balance go down a little.
I have paid a card off this week - the final £90 (from £2600) and when I checked they had added £1.71 interest:mad: Paid that and sent an email to ask them to close the account down:j
Good luck - you inspire me to carry on - Ive got 4 more years to slog- but dreaming about that finish line.. well done
Thanks for the support!! Yes you do go through phases of doing absolutely anything to pay a bit more off..... then you seem to run out of ideas for a while....
Congratulations on paying off your card! It is a great feeling isn't it when you have one less debt to think about!
Good luck on your journey! 4 years will fly by. My debt plan has gone by so fast! Feels like yesterday I was setting it all up and now I'm almost at the end! I am enjoying a bit more now that the goal is smaller..... The beginning was a bit over-facing and I was getting down in the dumps quite a bit in the middle too. I found that not focussing on the overall debt but having lots of smaller goals/ challenges helped. Changing the goals helps too, so you don't feel stuck in a rut.
Good luck! :TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well It is a miserable day to have a holiday off work, cold and wet, but I'm happy!! A few small things today have cheered me up.......
The first was a letter through the post confirming that my TSB card is now closed. I know it is ages since I paid it off but that "knowing" that it is closed off makes it all feel more final and I know that one is done and dusted!
Secondly, hubby had some extra work on this week (typical when I am off work but hey ho! That's life) and he is using the money to hopefully fix my car! Yay!! I have to drop it off at the garage later and leave it with them until tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's nothing major and doesn't cost a fortune!
And finally........ Saving the best till last...... Hubby has also paid off my £37.71 owing on my Barclaycard!! So that is it...................
:j:j:j:j:j:jI'M DOWN TO MY FINAL DEBT!!!!:j:j:j:j:j:j:
I've not really got my head round it yet and I suppose I will need to see the zero balance and get that card closed too, but for now I know it is paid off and I only have one more debt to go! Phew!!:rotfl:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I don't know!!! Ha ha!! Die of happiness!!! Drink my champagne!!! Save up!!! Have a weekend away!!! Buy some clothes!!! Then I will probably have to start a savings plan or find some new aim in life. It will be a bit weird I think and hard to get used to as even though my debt plan will have only been 3 years I've spent about 20 years in debt and trying to pay it off. It kind of became the only focus in my life. I'm not sure how I will cope without that aim in life and no debt diary to write, no spreadsheet to spend hours staring at..... ha ha.... I'm such a saddo!! I will need to find myself a new hobby I suppose.... and change my debt spreadsheet to a savings one!
Thanks again for all your support Fortune!! It really means a lot to me!

Hi there,
have been following your diary for a while but never posted, you have come such a long way in what really is a short space of time, the amounts you have repaid are pretty brilliant!!
Just a thought since you are so near to clearing your debt, but would it be worth asking your final CC co. whether they would accept a F&F offer? They might say no since you seem to be doing so well at repaying it, but you have nothing to lose? might let you finish paying a bit earlier than you expect?
would rec the first thing you do when you are debt free is to build your emergency fund, will save you a lot of stress when you have unexpected bills/birthdays.
Good luck with your final few months of debt repayment.:)

Thanks DippityDooDah for popping in to say hi.
It is a good idea to try a F&F but like you say they may not accept it now that I've paid everything else off and I am over paying. I could see what they say though once I have got some money together. I've only had one F&F out of all my 11 initial debts and that was MBNA. They offered me and F&F after only 10 months on my plan! The rest though I have just cracked on and payed off.
Yes I will be getting some savings put away asap once the debt is payed. I'm going to put away about 2/3rds of what I currently pay to my debts each month as I know I won't miss it and can survive still. The extra 1/3 I will use to treat myself a bit, like go clothes shopping as I have literally been wearing the same clothes for years and I have put weight on too so some jeans that fit me would be nice!I'm not going to go mad though and I'm hoping to save some of that cash too and that can go towards maybe a meal out now and then or to save up for a weekend away. I hopefully will have some big ish savings that I won't touch and some smaller ones that I will allow myself to dip into. To achieve this though I will still live frugally and keep to my budget. If I can keep the day to day stuff like food and bills to a minimum it will give me more for the special things in life that I haven't really had chance to enjoy before.
Thanks for your support and gook luck with your financial targets too!

I have been following your diary too and am so pleased that you are almost there.
It will be wonderful to be free of debt and able to save.
I wonder if you have any chance of getting your husband to pay off his debts too so that you will both be in the position to enjoy having money to spend on the nicer things in life. Otherwise you might find you are not able to do the things you want to because he can't afford to.
Just a thought for the future. Different attitudes to money can be so difficult in a relationship.0
