Well I had a cheap week this week with my groceries as I tried to use lots of bits and bats I had knocking around in my cupboards. So for example I have a ton of pasta (from spending my Tesco vouchers last month) I just bought cheese so I can make macaroni cheese. I made sure I got a big bag of cheese so I could just buy baked beans and pastry and then make cheese & onion pie & beans etc.... I managed to buy a whole weeks shop and 2 bottles of wine (got to have a treat now & then) for £50 leaving me £50 left over from my food/fuel budget. I have 1/4 tank of fuel still in car and I'm off work Mon so I'm hoping I won't need to put any more in this week and I can carry the £50 over to next week.
I then decided to empty my money box that I have been frantically throwing all my spare change in. The idea was to do the same as I'm doing with my Nectar card and save up until I can afford a weeks shopping and therefore pay my shopping budget for that week off my debt. I had £40 in there :j I was really shocked! I can't remember when I started saving it though so It could have been a while, but normally with money boxes I'm tempted to pinch a little out of it and never actually manage to save!
So..... £40 plus the £50 I saved from this week gives me £90 for next week! Yay!!:T
I am going to carry it on until the end of the month, economising, throwing my change in the money box etc and see how much I can save. Then I'll pay off what I have saved next pay day.
Other plus points this week, on a smaller scale but still appreciated, I got given a bottle of wine by a customer at work and I withdrew £2.50 from My Survey as Nectar points so they will be on my card balance shortly!
Today is going to involve dog walks and foraging for blackberries!
Hope you all have a fab

Well, the extra money I saved from my shopping last week has gone!! Why is it that every time you think you have a bit of spare cash, something happens to wipe it out? A visit to the dentist and another problem with the car and it's gone! still at least I had the spare cash to pay for it and it didn't come out of my food budget!
Fingers crossed that nothing else happens this month that needs paying for!! Grrrrr!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Dentists and cars are the 2 things I really hate. Always costs a fortune but need both. I went to the dentist to have to return again as they caused me massive pain. So I have to return again in a couple of weeks time. I hope your visit was more pleasant than mine lol.sealed pot challenge 099

Well I've been right up and down this past week money wise.
Saved money on this weeks groceries then wiped it out with car and dentist.
Then went shopping on way home for next weeks groceries and managed to only spend £26 (no idea how I managed that! I'm sure the till must have been faulty! Though I did get some money off deals & used some vouchers)
And to top it off I bought a £2 scratchcard and won £10! So I have a tenner to put towards my next shop! Plus the money I didn't spend from my budget!
Just wondering what will come along now to wipe this weeks savings out! laugh!
Have a great weekend everyone!:beer:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

lol at faulty till - I always seem to get them too
but you are doing amazing - look at your balance - :T - will be gone in no time x0 -
I knew I would come across something else that would need paying for!!!! My Brother just sent me a text giving me ideas for his & his Mrs's birthdays, both this week!! Yikes I forgot!!! They are only £20 each ish but it's still £40 out of the cash I thought I had saved this week.
It's hard work sticking to a budget but in some ways I like it as it reigns me in and stops me going mad with my money. I'm just scared that once I'm out of debt I won't be able to control my spending. I could probably do it if I was on my own but hubby will spends like mad and he won't be a good influence on me! He is already dreaming up lists of things to buy when I'm debt free! It doesn't occur to him to pay his own debt off so he can spend his own money!
Hopefully I only have 6 months to go now until I'm debt free. Once free I'm thinking of maybe transferring the bulk of what I normally pay to my debts into a long term savings account and just allowing myself a couple of hundred a month extra for treats / clothes / holidays etc. That way I'll not be struggling but will still have to budget and even if I blow that months money I know a big chunk is untouchable in my savings...... hopefully..... we will see!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well done on the savings and you just have to change how you look at it really. You had extra unforeseen expense but you also had the cash to pay for it and didn't have to add to debt/steal from another budget so that in itself is worth celebrating I reckon!
Only 6 months until the DF date ...brill! Perhaps once you are there you could think about an emergency fund (3-6 months living expenses?) and then treat yourself as well as save. Well this month is turning out to be a bit expensive and I am struggling to make my budget stretch:( Having to keep chipping into the next weeks money and then when that week arrives I'm skint and have to use the week after that's money! Groan! I'm expecting to have run out of money the week before pay day at this rate!
I have spent this afternoon doing online surveys and re-doing my debt spreadsheet and generally trying to con myself into thinking I'm doing something positive! It's not working! Laugh!
On the plus side, my cousin abroad put on her facebook today that her son is 1 today and it feels like he should be about 4 months old not 1! So a great example of how time flies and how hopefully the next 6 months of being in debt will also fly by!!! (you can tell I am really clutching at straws today to make myself feel better!:rotfl:)
Off to stare at my spreadsheet for a bit longer as it makes me feel like I'm doing something about it...... :rotfl:
Have a great weekend!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]
