  • Had a really good week this week. Got some extra points vouchers for my nectar card and used them with my shopping bringing my points value up to £99.40!! I have been desperately trying to earn 60p worth of points on adpoints this am to get it to £100 ha ha!!

Also my mum wanted to join sky and asked us if we would get any kind of reward if we reccommended her, so we looked into it and we did! She signed up and got £100 of m&s vouchers and we got a £100 Tesco card! Yay!!!!!:j £100 of free shopping!! I couldn't believe that the reward was so high! Hubby is trying to find more people who want to sign up to sky now! ha ha! The plan now is to use that for a week or mores grocery shopping and pay the cash that I would have spent off my Barclaycard!

Talking of Barclaycard.... I got my statement and the interest is still at the reduced rate despite my overpayments!! (I had heard that once you were on a payment plan, if you decided to overpay they cancelled the plan and upped the interest) Even if they suss me out next month and put it up, I should hopefully only have one payment to make after that so the interest won't be too high anyway. :T

I have been feeling really positive for about 3 weeks now which is unlike me as I usually am a bit up and down when it comes to my debt, but since getting down to almost 5K I have really been able to see light at the end of the tunnel! I just need to stay focussed and still try and get together every last penny I can to try and stay on track to hopefully be debt free in February.

  • Well today is my 1st day off (other than Sunday) in a whole month and isn't it just typical that it is pouring down! Even the dogs don't want to go out!

I'm trying to find things to occupy myself so after the housework I'm going to do a shopping list and go off and spend my Tesco gift card that we got from Sky. Had a big debate with hubby over what to spend it on as my idea was to keep to the meal plan and buy a week or more worth of meals so I could then pay the equivalent from my food budget off my barclaycard. His idea is to just blow the lot on things that we will always need like tinned food, pasta, toiletries etc and treats like wine, that will keep a while and therefore reducing my shopping budget over a longer period. I don't think I will really notice the savings though that way and will be paying the money saved off in dribs and drabs rather than £100 all in one go. I'm trying to get him to see my point of view but I'm struggling.

On the topic of shopping my Nectar balance is at £101! :T Plus I have £2.50 due to go on in the next few days from My Survey. I was planning on trying to save £150 over the year and then do the same as I want to do with the Tesco card. However I'm tempted to limit it at £100 and spend it this month and then start saving again. I am desperate to find some extra money to pay off my debt!

I have £17 in my small change jar so In my mind I'm thinking if i lump that, the tesco £100 and the Nectar £100 together I could possibly get 3 weeks of meals from it and pay the £300 from my food budget off my card...... Hmmmmm.....

I have found a couple of things to ebay which may raise about £30 and it is pay day next Friday so I'm not too far off paying some more off my debt!

Still feeling positive! Hope I can keep it up!

  • Well we eventually got round to spending the £100 Tesco gift card last night after a couple of days postponing it and hubby insisted on coming with me so he got his way! I lost track of the maths half way round so we ended up going over by £40 but he paid that and now we are all stocked up on tinned food, pasta, rice, loo roll, cereal, toiletries etc....
I still need to go shopping for meat and veg later in the week but at least my next 2 or 3 grocery bills will be a lot less as I won't need to buy the extras. :T
I will see in the next few weeks how much I have saved according to how much of my grocery money I have left over. That will be going straight off my barclaycard!
Pay day is due on Friday. Just waiting for my pay slip to come through so I can work out how much to pay off this month.
Getting closer all the time..... still feeling positive....The end is in sight at last!

You are doing amazing you will be debt free in no time. I can't believe how many nectar points you have. You are very committed.
Stocking the cupboards is a good idea. I hate buying the basics lol as always puts the bill up so much more. I once tried stocking up on cereal but the children thought that s a ticket to eat more !! :rotfl:

You are doing brilliantly :D and it always feels good when cupboards are stocked. Are you below the £5k? I was so excited when I dropped below that.

    Thanks Shinner!
Yes I'm obsessed with my Nectar points but I get my reward points from My Survey website transferred to my Nectar card so they help a lot! I was just sat here contemplating writing out a shopping list as I spotted your post! I've got stocked cupboards but theres very little food so I need to go shopping again! lol!
Thanks for your support! It means a lot! Good luck in your own debt busting!

    Thanks Lam!!

I'm chipping away like mad at the minute! I will be less than 5K on Friday! Just waiting for my wage to go in and I should be at approx £4600. EEEEkkkkkkk!!! So exciting to see it coming down from what was 11 different debts to just 2 and having the total of all my debts down to what was roughly the credit limit on each individual credit card I had. I'm not so stressed about it all now. I can see the end and the amount I owe is manageable.
Thanks for popping in! I appreciate your support x:T

  • Well payday has arrived again and I've managed to both achieve something and mess up!!

I have managed to get below 5k at last, totting up post payments at £4581!!!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

But I wasn't paying enough attention when I transferred the payments at 6.00am and payed £600 off the wrong credit card!!!:mad::mad::mad:

I suppose in the long run it makes no difference but It was my short term goal to pay my lowest balanced card off and I was only 2 months off clearing it. Now it will take me longer due to paying the money destined for that off the other card! Groan!

    I'm such a plonker! :(

whoo hoo sub £5k. at least it was one of your cards that you are trying to pay off.

I once transferred some money (luckily only £10) to a credit card that I had already paid and closed but hadn't removed off my banking list!! Took me ages to sort - I was so cross with myself.
