Hi I know the feeling about kidding yourself I find I have been doing this also this month. September is a very expensive month for me I think I am spending October s money already. I have 3 important birthdays all within 3 days of each other not good.
Keep going you are doing fab. Xx
Thanks Shinner!!
I have had 2 birthdays in a week this month and I over spent on both presents as they told me what they wanted and I couldn't find the items within my budget in the end. They both said "don't spend a lot on us" but I just couldn't find what they were asking for without spending a lot. Groan!
It's ok making a budget and sticking to it until birthdays, weddings, family parties etc crop up. It's always those extra things that pop up that throw you off track..... but I guess as long as you are not going backwards and borrowing more then you are doing fine! It will just take a little longer.....LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well i thought I would just pop on and update my signature, even though my totals have only changed by £20! I've got that feeling I need to be doing something but theres not much I can do at the moment! Counting the days down until pay day on the 25th.
Withdrew £2.50 from My survey last night, that will go onto my nectar points total. Getting really bored of surveys now. They keep kicking me out right at the very end! Its so frustrating!
Anyway my debts at present are my 2 Barclaycards at £2683 and £1162 so £3845 in total! Which means I have paid off £24,079 in 30 months! This is the first time I have actually sat down to analyse it like that (other than just scanning my spreadsheet) I am quite shocked at how well I have actually done. You kind of lose sight of it when you are just plodding through it.
I am still aiming for February as I want to be clear before my 40th in March so that I can actually afford to celebrate my birthday for once!
Fingers crossed I will manage it! I'm not that far off now but have the dreaded Christmas in between! :rotfl:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well done - even though you only reduced debt by £20 - you have not increased it - thats what I kept telling myself. And you have come so far - gosh look how much you have paid off already. Dont lose heart I know its hard in the final year - you will get there x0

It was our wedding anniversary on Sunday and we only got each other a card due to our money saving etc but had a lovely meal in the evening at home with friends. Earlier on in the day though a family member popped in with a bottle of champagne for us!
We didn't drink it so I have decided to hide it away in the bottom of the fridge to await my debt free day!! It gives me something to look forward to / to celebrate with and best of all it was free!
It is going to be there for a while but at least I Know that when the day arrives it is waiting for me, all nice and chilled! :TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well I am off work this week and instead of doing something special we have mostly been walking the dogs!
Then today we spent the day removing the exhaust from the car (it was blowing and we found 3 great holes in it) and patching it up by welding steel patches onto it. (I'm lucky that hubby knows what he's doing and we had the equipment to hand thanks to a friend)
It was a strange day as part of me felt like it was wasted yet the MSE part of me felt that it was very productive. Of course the fact that the local auto factors quoted me £150 for a new exhaust and we managed to fix it for free was a pretty good result too!
As a treat we stopped off at the pub on our late afternoon dog walk and had half a lager and a packet of crisps each! Its funny how special small things can be when you are on a debt plan! I really enjoyed it! :rotfl:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I am getting seriously fed up with the car!!!! Just fixed the exhaust and now it has started breaking down again when driving it and it looks like we are going to have to get it booked into a garage to get the injector replaced!! Groan!!! I so cannot afford that right now!
On the up-side, my car insurance renewal is due again and even though it was less than last year and I was happy with it, hubby wasn't and he rang a local firm and got it for £140 less than my quote!! Yayy!!! And as he sorted it all out he ended up paying the deposit and so I have even less to pay now!! Double result!! :T
Now I just need to find some cash to fix the flaming thing!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well it is pay day at last this week so I have sneaked on here early again to update my debt once this weeks payments have come off.
So on Thursday I will be at £3183 which is 89% paid off! This is £2622 remaining on the biggest barclaycard and down to £561 on the lowest.
You may notice my nectar target is gone from my signature.... I have decided to cash it in early rather than waiting until I get to £150. I have planned the whole months meals from September until October payday and I will use the points to buy the first weeks groceries plus all the stuff for the following 3 weeks that won't go off (dry food, tins & toiletries etc) then I will pay the equivalent amount off my debt from my grocery budget. So in a round about way I will be paying my Nectar points off my debt.
I have tried to plan the meals so that they are ultra cheap and so that I can use ingredients multiple times so I am hoping to actually pay more of my grocery budget off the debt than I have in Points. For example I have £100 a week budget but if I manage to get 2 weeks worth of food from the £125 in points I will pay off both weeks Budget so £200 paid off.
Fingers crossed I make some good savings and can pay that extra chunk off my debt!:)

Well I did my payday grocery shop and fuelled the car up yesterday and I paid for the shop with my Nectar points and put a tenner less than I expected in the tank (usually I'm on red by payday but still had a fair bit in this month) saving myself in total £75!!! :j
I still have £65 in points on my Nectar card and due to the fact I bought all the tinned and dry goods for the rest of the month on this shop, I'm hoping to only spend £40 next week on fresh groceries so that should be covered too! Yay!!! If I can pay next week's shopping budget off my debt next week too I will be laughing!
I logged on to my lowest Barclaycard this am just to look at the balance after my payday payment (I'm sad like that!) and was over the moon to see for sure that I only owe £551. That will be cleared next pay day and then I will be down to my final debt!! The last one out of 11 debts I had originally! I'm feeling really excited about it now. The end is getting so near!!!
I am just waiting for something to go wrong now (probably with the car) as it usually does just after I put something positive on here! Ha ha! Fingers crossed for some good luck to keep me on track for final payment In February!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]
