Think I will try nectar canvas tomorrow once I find my nectar card details. Are the surveys long on there ?
No they are not bad at all. I find it the easiest site out of the ones I do (my survey, opinion outpost and swagbucks) Try it and see..... if you don't like it you don't have to carry on and you're not wasting any points if you give it up as you get them straight on your nectar card so you don't have to do a load of surveys just to claim some points.
good luck xxLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Having a "down"period again..... Sometimes I can go days or weeks even without giving my debt much thought and sometimes I get obsessed and miserable.
We had someone leave work and they were off sick for a long time before and we haven't replaced them yet so we have gone about 3 months with a staff member missing.
Because our shifts differ slightly, the rest of us have had to cover their hours which means working our days off at weekends etc. We don't get overtime, it's a salary so we don't get paid for extra hours worked but we have been told we can have time off in lieu. The problem with that though is we haven't enough staff still so if someone takes their time off we are left with 2 of us working even more hours!
I've got to the point where I'm getting really tired and stressed with it and the only day off now is Sunday when all I'm doing is household jobs. All I keep thinking is how I am trapped in this job because of my debt and I'm so annoyed at myself for ruining my life by getting in all this debt in the first place. I could have had a more enjoyable job with less hours and more "me Time" and still been better off if I hadn't got into debt. I know that next year it will all be over and paid off but I am frustrated that in the meantime I am just wishing my life away to get to that point! I have been in debt about 21 years now and I have just wasted all that time wishing for the day it will be all over. I feel anxious all the time, my teeth are killing me as I keep clenching them without realising and I think I must be grinding them in my sleep.... I'm so stressed!! I thought all those years ago that getting credit cards / loans made life so much easier but it doesn't it just ruins it!
Going to spend some time thinking up how I can stop obsessing and stressing about it all and enjoy the here and now time instead of wishing my life away. This last year is a killer!!:mad:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I had a dilemma when I got down to my last 2 debts (both Barclaycards) because when I first set out on my debt plan I did a lot of research on the net and heard that they were great to come to a payment arrangement with and at lowering interest, but the minute you pay a bit extra they hike your interest back up.
So the sensible thing to have done was to save up what I needed to pay off each card in full and keep on with my agreed payments until I had saved enough to clear the card in one go.
The problem is, I'm not too great at saving up and in order to keep focussed, I wanted to see my debt reducing on my statements. So I picked one of the cards, the lowest balance, and started paying extra chunks off it. The last few weeks paying £430 off.
Yesterday I got two missed calls on my mobile while at work and they were both from Barclaycard! Aargh! I think I may have shot myself in the foot there!! The only time they have ever phoned me before is to review my plan!
My statement was due yesterday so I checked this am and the interest is still at the reduced rate so I only paid £15 this month. I really hope they don't increase it or it is going to be even further into next year before I'm debt free.
Don't know whether to carry on paying as much as I can off so that if they do decide to up my interest, the balance will be less & therefore so will the interest or if I should pretend the extra payment was a one off and go back to paying the minimum and save the money up seperatley..... It's so confusing trying to figure out the right thing to do!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Hi I would pay them the bare minimum you can even a token payment. I learnt that if you give them more they hound you then place any extra into a different account for full and final. If you get in touch explain that you had had extra income so gave it to them. Explain circumstances have changed and you can't afford to go them what they want. I paid £1 a month for 5 month on 2 accounts with them before they settled for about £40% and the last for 9 tacitly think they may of settled for less this time but offered 40%.

Keep your chin up GMOOD. You've done so well and there's not long to go now. Could you give yourself a little treat each week/month for reaching your goals? Sounds as though you need a few lilies.

Thanks Shinner,
I think that is the way to go with them or else it is going to end up costing me more! I'm just better at paying off than saving!! I'm going to have to try and be really strong and not touch the money I put aside for them!!
Fortune,
I have treated myself to a bottle of wine as the shopping budget came in at £20 less this week!! Yay a lily for me!!! But my biggest treat will be to pay it all off!! That will feel like the most humongous bunch of lillies ever!!!
Thanks to both of you for your support. It means a lot xx:TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

If You're on a low interest then I would put the money that you are able to pay extra into a savings account and pay it all off in one go like you previously suggested. BC did this to my DH when we started paying extra off, they were our worst creditor by far! Keep smiling, things could honestly be worse and you only have one year left rather than 10

Hi just pooped in to see how you are doing.
I had a thought you may not like the idea but it could help you. In the pound shop you can get the tin money boxes which are sealed you could withdraw your funds and put in that instead ? You have to use a tin opener to get in it. I have two one for copper one for notes and pounds.xxsealed pot challenge 099

Thanks shinner, I may give that a go. we used to use the terramundi pots that you have to smash to open but they are about £20 to replace which seems to be defeating the object of saving up! Thanks for that tip! I will look out for them!:TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]
