I'm still here GMOOD - you won't get rid of me easily!
Do you think you need a post debt goal to start aiming for now? Or a special event/purchase to celebrate being debt free? Something to up the motivation a bit.

Your diary is very inspirational and you have cleared a massive amount of debt in such a short time, athough it may not seem like that to you.
You are so close and being debt free will be here before you know it.
Then the fun really begins. Can you imagine having savings put away so that you never need to worry about money again. If the car breaks down you can get it fixed. If you fancy a holiday the money will be there. It is a great feeling and you are so close. Only a few more payments and you will be there.0 -
I am fairly new here but have read your diary from the start - I think you are doing amazingly well! Keep going and keep writing, we are reading.0

Wow GMOOD.:D I have spent two whole evenings reading through your diary. I am amazed at how much debt you've shifted in such a short space of time. I only have a relatively small amount of debt compared to others, but I have had the same amount of debt for near on 6 years, despite making payments every month, the balances actually keep creeping up, not down, which is so frustrating.
I'm at the early stages of my DMP, and am nervous about making the first reduced payments in case of backlash from creditors and the risk to my credit file. I'm sure it will all be fine in the end though.
Keep going, I'm going to subscribe to the rest of your journey so that I can follow it through to the end to see when you reach your DFD.

Wow! Thanks everyone for popping in and giving your support!!
I don't know why I am finding it a bit hard at the moment, Possibly Christmas because I'm spending money elsewhere that could go towards my debt.
Fortune, I think I may need a better goal than my bottle of champagne for my debt free day..... Something that is going to make me feel a bit more motivated!:rotfl:
Thanks Monewhizz, Golightly and Mrs T for reading my diary and popping in to say hi. Mrs T I was in just the same situation As you with the amount just staying the same for ever! You will find it makes a huge difference if you can get the interest stopped or lowered. I was nervous too at the beginning but just think that the creditors have their own departments with lots of staff dealing with people like us all day every day. You are not the only one, They are used to dealing with people who are struggling and I think that if you are honest and reasonable with them they are the same with you. I was so shocked at how easily they all helped me when I asked! I'd spent years in fear of contacting them and they all (apart from Lloyds) just did what I asked!
Good luck to you all with your own journeys and thanks again for giving me a boost with mine! xx:TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I read it! Keep going! I know what you mean about getting near the end. I seem to get 3/4 months near the end and then something very costly comes up.0

Well I'm not doing much regarding being very "money saving" at the moment due to the impending Christmas but I have managed to withdraw £5 worth of Nectar points from Mysurvey this week. In total this year I have earned £37.50. Doesn't sound a lot really when you think I have been doing surveys most days but I have to think that it's £37.50 more than I had and It's handy to knock off my food shop!
I will be undoing all my hard work tonight though as I am going out for a meal and a catchup with a friend! I will have to try and keep it to one cheap course! Plus I can't drink too much as I am doing a Santa fun run tomorrow so I need to be in a fit state to do that! :santa2::rotfl:
Have a great weekend!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I have managed to get my mojo back this week and I'm feeling pretty good about the future! I had been panicking a bit over what I was going to focus on after my debt plan ends as it has been my sole focus for so long. It was like paying debt off had become my sole purpose in life and I was feeling a bit lost knowing that it was going to end. ( I know it sounds really daft being nervous about finally paying my debt off but when you have been used to something for so long it kind of becomes part of who you are) Anyway I go walking a lot with my dogs as it is free for a start, it keeps me fit and it distracts me from worrying about the debt. I have an app on my phone and I set myself challenges for so many miles in so many weeks etc. I decided that next year instead of doing loads of small challenges, I will just set myself one big one for the year and decided to go for 500 miles. (I only walk them at weekends, hubby walks them in the week as I work longer hours than him) It averages at just over 10 miles a weekend. Then a friend asked was I doing it for charity and I though why not? So for the past week I have been organising with a local charity what we can do to advertise, fundraise etc..... So I now have a new project for 2015 and I have loads of ideas and am totally excited! I am so relieved that I have found something to focus on!
Also this week I gained £10 from some huge surveys I did (which took me about 3 evenings) and I'm just a few points off getting another £2.50 so I am just waiting for them to transfer to my nectar card and then I can buy some groceries with them. I'm still trying to put every spare penny to my debt and just want Christmas out of the way then I can concentrate a bit more on paying it off. I keep remembering things I need to buy for people. Just as I think I have bought all my presents I remember that I have missed someone!
Tonight we have friends staying but we are just having a cheap meal and a couple of bottles of wine. Next week we have hubby's works do and his best friends 40th! Groan!! I am going to have to be really careful or I'm going to end up adding another month onto my plan! I need to get it paid by Feb!! I don't want to be still at it in March!
Hope you all have a great weekend and are doing well with your targets and plans!
