I'm at w*** so this is just quick. I'm really sorry to hear that people are feeling cheesed off with the thread.
I reckon this started last year when we had *The Shake Up of 2006* and all the *mentioning* stopped. those who were here then may remember that I was a great *mentioner* as I felt that it included everyone, if you didn't like it you didn't need to read, but we felt involved.
A spark went out for me at that time, but as I live a pretty OS life, I still felt there was plenty here for me.
So as of tomorrow, I'm mentioning again. If people really don't like it, then PM me and I'm off. I'm finging that the Greenfingered board has loads for me atm, and an old OS friend is posting loads there, but not much here any more
Sorry, no time to mention anyone just now, but have a glass of something on me.
Penny. x
PS anyone who wants to see a sparky thread should take a look at last Saturday's - we had a party and it was F U N!!!:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi peeps,
Good morning! I am feeling a little brighter and better today and I am really hoping that my morning sickness is starting to go (touch wood!). I have got a sickness bug though, but that involves both ends (sorry if TMI) and is markedly different from my usual morning sickness queasiness. I do think I am developing SPD though, mildly at the moment, but is still worrying for later on in the pregnancy. Oh - full of woe as usual! I am beginning to dread people asking me how I am as I feel like such a moan!
Not much going on here today - I was supposed to have friends round tonight but they have cancelled - although I'll miss seeing them, it's good news really as I'm tired. I've got a couple of phone calls to return and I'll file and paint my nails, but that's about as taxing as I'm planning to get!
Breakfast - raspberries, greek yoghurt and honey (and a Caramac and S&V Hula Hoops - oops!)
Lunch - gggrrr - nothing brought in, might have to head to Boots for their meal deal. I don't really want to do this but the cupboards and freezer are very bare at home!
Tea - hopefully OH will make macaroni cheese.Bargain_Rzl wrote:As for the Daily Thread, I actually really love it the way it is now. I don't always have time to read everybody's posts properly, but I definitely think that since we changed it so that the "introduction" always gets put in the opening post, people have felt like it's less of a clique (not that I think it was cliquey to begin with, but I can see how newbies could have got that impression!) which is why there are now soooo many people posting on itThat's a good thing. Nobody's expecting people to have time to read every word, and I agree with what Nels said - if somebody's in need of support it's great to know that there will always be bucketloads of it on here
Absolutely agree Rzl - and well said :T . I really hope people don't continue to feel ignored - this has never been my intention and I doubt it is the intention of others - however, I would hate to feel that to contribute I had to read and reply religiously - when sometimes that just isn't feasible. The Daily Thread ebbs and flows and there aren't really any rules - people will always drop in and out and I like that about it.
Edited to say, re. Penelope Penguin's comment above - I think mentions are fine (see below!) and people can skip them if they are struggling for time or not interested. Also, I strongly disagree with imposing too many rules on people on a natural organic thread such as this as people will just leave - I still remember and miss tootles.
Rzl - on another note, I heard on Radio 2 this morning that a lady in London was giving up supermarkets for Lent - are you now famous or do you think someone stole your idea :rotfl: .
Welcome autismmum and congrats on your money saving so far
Sorry to hear about the non-op stefejb, must be so frustrating for you trying to rearrange everything all the time.
sahmx5 - we got our gas bill on Monday - £470 in debit, but they are not putting our payments up?!?! I can't decide whether this is a bad or good thing. We don't have any leeway in our budget to allow for increased payments, but also now can't switch for a long time so are trapped with the same supplier?!!?
Penny-Pincher!! - So sorry to hear of your frustrations with the cleaning company - that is definitely not good service and I would push for a FULL refund if I was you? I know you've not had much luck with cleaners as your SIL didn't work out either. I really hope you find a solution that works for you soon.
Ticklemouse - I think I have probably missed your latest update, but I am really hoping things went well for you this week and you continue to cope well for the next few weeks and months.
Nelski - I am absolutely not Old Style either - but love the community here and do aspire to be Old Style one day (when I'm grown up!) so I hope we're still allowed!
dlb - HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday - I hope you had a lovely spoilt day, you really deserve it.
CrazyChick - I hope everything is going well with your OH's ex problem - hugs go to you at this difficult time.
catowen - I hope you are okay, I am missing your posts.
Good luck at the dentist to anyone who is going!
So sorry about the length of this post, I didn't realise I could gas so much!
Love to you all

Hi Yall, almost Spring-like here in the emids, the birds are twittering and I can hear a a couple of woodpigeons too!
Most of my jobs are done now - just need to finish my paid2clicks and check my ebay stuff and then I shall settle in the conservatory to have lunch and watch Look North.
While I'm scarffing me grub I shall think of all you who are fasting on the first day of Lent (I am sooooo glad I'm a Methodist:D I don't think I could go all day on water) I think I said yesterday that we are giving up all 5 & 10p to church funds and spending time each week in family bible study during Lent so a bit of giving and a bit of gaining. Whatever your Lenten observances ((hugs))
I'm making the most of having some 'me' time because the Church renovations are almost done and I shall need to volunteer some mornings to help decorate in a week or so. I also open up our home at the coast next weekend so life gets busier once we are bobbying back and forth.

MATH's Special
HM Sherry Triffle
Math's special is a concoction of fried onion, peppers, mushrooms and smokey bacon mixed into a tin of baked beans and 1/2 pt of thick gravy, topped with mashed potato and grated cheese. If you are addicted to say something like... Shepherd's Pie:rolleyes: (I wonder who that could be...) this could be a good 'weaning off' dish on the road to full recovery, think of it a bit like store cupboard Methadone:D
Daily Thread- I still like the Daily Thread, although it can feel like an undpaid full-time job sometimes especially if you can't get on the pc before 11am when it clocks up to about 389 pages:eek: (and yes I am displaying 40 posts/page LOL) I tend to post once a day and it's full of useless blather! others post shorter snippetts a few times and it's all useless blather...erm...I mean world changing, erudite and prosaic thoughts:rotfl: Post and be damned I say LOL
N9EAV - I'm laughing at you belt 'n' bag comment and then remembered that I received 2 Mop Dusters as part of my Christmas gift so I stopped laughing;) In may have been a mild Christmas outside but it was certainly frosty indoors at Chez MATH I can tell ya!
PP - For that sort of money I would pop round and buff up ya knockers:D except I live hundreds of miles away so the bus fare might be prohibitive. LOL You have every right to be angry they have seriously let you down
Nels - nice to see on the thread
TM - I know you lurk, hope all is well in the land of Mouse
Edit: My post was whipped from me before I had finished (technical glitch). I wish Martin would put another penny in the metre at MSE HQ LOL, just wanted to say
Hugs to all and have a good day

Oh Yummy! I have just made up a batch of Kaz's Welshcakes and they melt in your mouth! I can highly recommend this recipe. In fact OH had better get home early or (dentist allowing) there will be none left!;)
Valentine x - Good to see you posting, I was addicted to caramac bars during my first pregnancy!Hope you feel better soon.
Just got my fruit and veg box and eggs from Abel and Cole for £11.40 so roast veg tonight with fennel, courgettes, red onions and some parsnips from last week with some pork steaks. Banana bake for pud as I have rather a lot of those now!

Hi everyone.
Not back at w**k until tomorrow so went for a swim after taking the kids to school.
The plans for today include drying my hair, cleaning house top to bottom, making 2 chicken and leek pies and making a shepherd's pie for tea.
I'm feeling tired today as I was on the pc late last night listing tons of things on ebay!
If I can I like to pop on here most days (with a cup of tea) just to read through what everone is up to. It's nice to have 'virtual friends'. :T

Hello everyone,
First, can i thank everyone who has posted missing me today, and to CM, Pooky and ageandjo for the PMs. Also thanks to Learning to Save, for texting me to say what was being put on the thread today. (Feel like im at the Oscars with all those thank you's!!!!)
Recently, ive had a few problems/upsets that i didnt feel i could share with the daily thread, due to something that happened a few weeks ago. i wasnt going to say anything, but because of what others have put today, i think its important to put something.
A few weeks ago, i found out that my best friend was emergrating to Australia, not in a few months, but a couple of weeks, in fact, she is due to leave in a few days once her visa comes through. I was really upset at this news, and like others (and myself on a couple of occassions) i posted on the daily thread, as a way of sharing my hurt, and to maybe get a couple of virtual hugs. I dont find it easy to make friends, and have loved the daily thread, as its almost like having virtual friends who have been supportive and caring. So when i posted, and was ignored by basically everyone (except Crazychik and Mushy Peas) i was even more upset. Especially as i had been thanked by 18 people. I had always thought, that although i dont thank anyone unless they have helped/mentioned/amused me, i do know that some will thank as a way of saying, thanks for posting, i have read what you have put. So if all these people have read my post, in my distressed state, i took that as no-one really caring, and that what ive had to say hasnt been important. So, this last week, when ive had some things happen i havnt felt that i could share as i wouldve previously, and being the type of person i am (unconfident, probably highly strung, stubborn and selfish) thought it would be best to stay away rather than keep going. I also didnt think i could cope with being ignored again - i felt low that day, and ended up feeling even worse as the community i thought would be supportive, ignored me. If i had posted late in the day, and no one had thanked me to show they had read my post, i wouldve understood, however as i had posted about 9.30am, and all those people had thanked me, i did feel that i wasnt part of the OS community.
So, again, thank you to all those who have missed me, after a bad experience on here, it really has made me think that maybe it is a good place to be!!!!
Take care love Catherine xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0
