  • Morning Guys!

I am so !!!!!! off:mad: ...the cleaning company have just called to say that the cleaners Ive had twice over the past 3 weeks wont be coming anymore as its too far for them to travel and they have alot of work on already. They all knew this before they started! I handed over 8 weeks agency fee's up front and they missed last weeks as they were away on holiday and there not doing this week. Apparently, he has a new cleaner in my area but she will have to come twice a week, but can do the days I prefer. I dont know what to do:confused: ...the whole reason for this is because I'm ill and unable to do a thorough clean each week. I explained originally that I needed consistency because of my illness, cleaners I could trust and a high standard of cleaning. I've been paying £9.50ph...is this not enough for that?

Im not sure if it will be worth putting a local ad in the paper or what? Or should I see if this cleaner works out with her being local and all?

What has annoyed me more is that OH is now stripping/making the beds, ironing etc when he should be having a break.

    Sorry for moaning:o

Anyway, WM is on, DW will be on later, beds changed, some ironing being done.

DD is still not well and off school again, still not eating but drinking loads. Will try her with some soup later. I have my psychotherapy today and really dont want to go-its so difficult in there with the wheelchair, so may have to use the crutches:eek:

Hope everyone is ok and hugs to all.

  • Morning everybody :hello:
We're CofE and don't give up anything for Lent, thanks to a sermon I heard years ago - we "take up" for Lent.
This is something I have been encouraged to do also. I am CofE too, albeit "practically Catholic" (as most folk who have visited my church say!) :D This Lent I am combining "giving up" with "taking up" by giving up supermarket shopping and taking up local and hopefully ethical shopping. When Lent is over, I think I will return to the supermarkets for some particular items, but I am hoping that the things I learn from "taking up" REAL shopping will stay with me for ever.

Having said that, it wouldn't hurt to give up chocolate either - or alcohol. I think I will aim to stay off the choc throughout Lent, but as for the alcohol, I really should cut down permanently anyway. I am compromising by saying that I currently have 13 bottles of wine in the house, and I will not be buying any more until AT LEAST Easter, not even if it's just for cooking (I drink white for preference, but seem to get through just as much red thanks to adding it to spag bol/chilli then finishing off the rest!).

    Anyway.

I think the funny noises in my plumbing system are coming from the immersion heater, and I have a nasty suspicion that my hot water is not working properly - the tank is not as warm on the outside as usual. However having said that, I had a perfectly good shower this morning, and that was at least 24 hours after the noises started. I will see how it goes and perhaps phone the manufacturer for advice. It would of course be just my luck to lose my hot water supply just as my mum comes to stay for the weekend

Today: work  though as it's Ash Wednesday and I'm otherwise occupied this evening, I think I will go to the lunchtime service at Southwark Cathedral. This evening I am going to a concert which I'm reviewing (hence freebie ticket :D).

As for the Daily Thread, I actually really love it the way it is now. I don't always have time to read everybody's posts properly, but I definitely think that since we changed it so that the "introduction" always gets put in the opening post, people have felt like it's less of a clique (not that I think it was cliquey to begin with, but I can see how newbies could have got that impression!) which is why there are now soooo many people posting on it :D That's a good thing. Nobody's expecting people to have time to read every word, and I agree with what Nels said - if somebody's in need of support it's great to know that there will always be bucketloads of it on here :)

Speaking of which, the query about vegetarian lasagne - there's a recipe for vegetarian spag bol knocking about on the internet, made with red lentils - I bet you could adapt that to be a lasagne. I'll see if I can find the one I mean :) Edit: here it is! :D

Hugs to Ticklemouse, ageandjo and everybody else who needs them.

    Love Rzl xx

  • Good morning everyone!!

:hello: :hello: Shez the smilies aren't quite right, this is me doing a two-handed wave across the river to you!!

My the thread is philisophical today! I think many have got it right (including you Nelski!:D ) It's only natural that there's an ebb and flow depending on individual circumstances. But as Nels said, when the chips are down everyone rallies round to offer support and encouragement.

I too often don't post because I've got nothing interesting to say, or because the thread is so long and I'm scared of being insensitive by forgetting someone's plight! Perhaps we all just need to loosen up a bit:D

Thanks for the hug yesterday Kaz! One coming right back at you!

Well given this has taken ages ( is everyone getting chucked off every few minutes? Or are they really out to get me:rotfl: ) I'm just going to wish everyone the day they've hoped for, whether productive, lazy or inbetween.

    Take care, CMxx

PS Pen-Pen I knew a family where the children weren't allowed to go anywhere alone while at primary school. First day of secondary school they were expected to get buses and all sorts on their own, and she wondered why her kids had no confidence and were frightened! Poor things, talk about thrown in at the deep-end! Never heard about engagements at 14 though:eek:

stressedoutmumof1 you have been missed, it's just that we get "used" to missing you if that makes sense?

    Big (((((((hugs))))))) to everyone

Kaz - I have your recipe for welshcakes and my Mums griddle at the ready! Will report back.

My appointment at the dentist isn't until 2.30 but I just can't settle properly to anything! What a coward I am! :o

Off for another :coffee: to see if that helps.

Rzl - I can and will support you 100% in anything, absolutely anything but I will not - in fact cannot support you in the process of giving up chocolate and wine - that is just WRONG:D :D:D:D

    Morning all...

I feel on occcasions that the thread gets a bit boring, but I suppose thats life......I come on and read the entries but have nothing to add myself, so I do not bother. It is good to have a place you can vent your feelings though and the people on this board are, on the whole supportive.

I am trying to work through how we are going to pay for this move of ours, will have to go over to the money board and see what the wise ones over there have to say. We want to be rural rather than urban so organisation is going to have to be the key, no Mr T to nip to, might help my efforts to cut down on HK though.

Its reasonably bright this morning, have just had my shower and chucked the towel down the stairs to go in the washer tonight, days are getting better so washing more likely to dry on the line, the dryer is in the garage now, so seeing if I can do without it, if I can it will get sold through the adds in the local paper, they do freebies if the article is under £100.

Right cup of coffee sitting here for me, so I am off to drink it...........
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

I use quorn mince to make lasagne or else I sometimes add lots of sliced mushrooms and peppers to the bolognese sauce which makes it more "meaty" if you will forgive the phrase.
Stressed out mumI hope you summon up the courage to see your doctor and get yourself feeling better.
Shez and anyone else feeling "ignored" - it is not deliberate - just that it can get a very long thread and I always forget who said what a dozen posts down.
I have two washing machine loads being done - courtesy of DD(17) - but lets hope it is a good drying day.
DD(13) hoped to have a dental brace by now but has to wait for two teeth to come out naturally - that should be fun as her teeth have very strong roots!Dds enjoyed their savoury pancakes last night and might make egg fried rice for tea.
I get a bit fed up trying to vary meals while not making anything that anyone dislikes.Hug to anyone who needs one and welcome to anyone new or feeling overlooked.
