I have to say though when I do post regular I feel more motivated by everyone else and what they are doing.

Me too! apart from putting - had brekky, get kids off to school and then work (doesnt seem exciting for people to read!):rotfl:

but I too love to read whats everyones up to and get ideas etc.

I too was wondering whats happened to catowen, snowy??

I had noticed/wondered where you where catznine? I wondered if you were going to the recent meet.

    Morning All

Heavy subjects this morning, but as a virtual newbie IKWUM. I think the unreliability of the thread, losing posts, not available has not helped. I also find it is the time of the day you post a question that impacts, too I asked for a veggie lasagne recipe as our DS's GF is veggie and we are real carnivores. Didn't get a reply but it was latish at night, and only a couple of people posted after me. So any clues on a veggie recipes she is coming to say next weekend with DS for the first time. She will eat fish and will pick chicken out, so that is not too bad. I am a meat and many veg cook, more than fancy recipes.

anniebooklover I'm feeling guilty and glad too. Read about the Fogarty all wool quilts being sold off on Dunelm on the Grabit thread, took DH along as we left work last night, they only had single/double/superking left, so ended up getting a superking + new cover and pillowcases:o , plus two new all wool pillows. DH is a nightmare with pillows, they are never right, they are either too flat, too hard, too soft, too big, etc., Any it was a good result :j :j :j , quickly washed and dried the quilt cover and put it on last night, together with the new pillows, managed to sleep all night without waking up with a soggy chest (sorry guys its an age thing) even though on HRT. DH slept fine on new pillow. too. :D:D

Now have to try to see if I can convert any of my King Size covers into Super King - another job.

I think CofE have similar rules for Ash Wednesday and Lent, but not many bother, it is a suggestion more than a rule these days.

((Hugs)) to those feeling not on top of the world.

Advice as to veggie recipes:for the lasagne just make the tomato sauce mixture [ the one you usually add meat to]with added vegs such as peppers, courgettes, onions, mushrooms, even aubergine or make using soya mince [ or beanfeast]. That advice applies to a lot of dishes that you would usually put meat in.
If doing a roast, cook roast veg in oil rather than round meat. make separate veg gravy and serve the vegetarian with a but cutlet [available in most supermarkets]
Another easy one is pizza...just put on diff toppings. Check cheese wrapper to ensure suitable for vegetarian.

    Hope thats helpful

    Morning everyone

Got a later start in work today so making the most of the last couple of hours of internet in the hotel by catching up with the daily. One more night here and really looking foward to getting home - no Sunday night leaving this weekend :j :j :j

Shez and others I have felt the same as yourselves many a time thinking that maybe I am not considered OS enough to join in the mighty daily thread (and to be fair it would be a fair comment:D) but I keep posting and everynow and then someone does acknowledge a post - I dont think there is any intent now just the opposite I think we all really enjoy each others very different lives but just havent the time to acknowledge what has recently gone up to 200 plus posts.

Where I believe the thread really is special is when something goes wrong for someone or there is something to celebrate then the gang sticks together big style;) Examples for me would be the support you are all currently giving Ticklemouse, your concern for Gingham, and the number of cakes you bake for people when its their birthday:T

So to N9eav no I do not think people are losing interest it is bound to be busy one day and quiet another depending on peoples committments.

anyway here endeth the gospel according to Nelski:D

best get dressed for work I suppose  catch ya later

    Hugs to EVERYONE:D

I am another who doesn't always post because I don't have anything (I consider) interesting to say......but I do enjoy reading about other people's lives, whether they be equally boring or more interesting than mine.

OH's birthday today; he was on his way to work at 5.30, so we didn't do presents. He can have them when he gets in. Out for a meal tonight in Rochdale - I've even painted my toe nails in honour of the event :rotfl:

So no cooking for me today :j, and I've got a relatively easy day work-wise, only a trip to Haydock. I may call into Costco while I'm there for a few bits.

Hope you all have a lovely day, and please post even if you think your day is boring - it might make mine sound more interesting :D;)
  • Morning all :D

Haven't posted for a while as I haven't been feeling so great and only now getting back on track. DH had a huge blow out on the weekend but in all honesty I think it cleared the air as we both got a lot of things off our chest and he said he didn't realise how stressed everything was making me so hopefully now it's all out in the open things can start getting better.

Haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone as yet but I hope everyone is OK.

More uni stuff this evening and I do have to make a start on the monster washing pile as well

As always take or leave the :grouphug: as needed.
You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same
  • Morning all,

I have to say that I miss people when they don't post - but I haven't been around for a few days because of half term and I assumed it was the same for others......

Veggie lasagne is nice if you roast the veggie chunks before adding them to the tomato sauce. PS check the cheese is suitable for veggies

Quiet day today - yes:j - although it was a shock getting up this morning. We're CofE and don't give up anything for Lent, thanks to a sermon I heard years ago - we "take up" for Lent. The children have to pay 5p to charity each time they eat sweets and we also do the Christian Aid "Count your Blessings" with a thought for each day, for example today we have to donate 5p for every radiator and 10p for every fireplace in the house whilst thinking of those with no heating. Could be expensive as this is a Victorian house with a fireplace in every bedroom!!!!! The kids are looking forward to the day when we have to record every timne we flush the loo!

Packed lunches: leftover cheese savoury sandwiches from a buffet I did last night, sunflower seeds, orange wedges, squash

Dinner: cold pork, scalloped potatoes and carrots, sweetcorn, broccoli

I'm going to treat myself with a patchwork session today whilst watching some of my Waltons DVDs - I'm making a throw to cover some of the bald patches on the sofa and it's getting urgent:D

    Have a good day everyone

sometimes Ive asked questions and they get overlooked - so feel abit invisible at times:o I know everyone's a really nice bunch here and its not intentional - its more my own insecurities making me feel that im not interesting enough so that people would be interested anway.

Shez, I am so glad you posted this as I'd started feeling exactly the same the other day. I know full well that everyone who joins this thread tends to be a lovely person (it has no appeal to nasties) so no one does it intentionally - but when I get 'skipped' I worry that it's because in my skiming the posts I've missed something important and upset someone... IYKWIM?

In fact I got upset about it the other night.... and Moggins caught my post before I had chance to delete it, lol.

I have to say also shez, that on the occasions that I am really limited on time and can only skim the thread your is one of the posts that I home in on and read..... but I never post on those days in case I've missed something that needs mentioning in someone elses post later IYKWIM?

Anyway, I'm off know to nosey at the gardening forum as my wonderfull seeds have arrived today and I'm really excited :D

Love and hugs to ALL - and a 'cwtch' to everyone who needs extra,
