Just waiting for the next installment now - probably in which Darth David announces that he's actually my father and the guy I fancy is my twin brother... and the saga continues...
Sent form, told (by David himself) that I'd have an offer letter by Wednesday this week - at time of writing this there are 18 minutes of Wednesday left, so my hopes aren't high...
So. STILL waiting... Honestly, it's like waiting for bl**dy Godot...! Although actually somewhat less-funny, since I can now no longer afford to eat.0 -

I called the help line and was told my claim was still under investigation as the process takes 8 weeks and I was at the 6 week mark. Well have now reached the magic 8 week deadline, still no letter and the credits are still on my CC. I know cause I keep checking about 10 times a day!!!!
This is just torture as due to hours of work I won't be able to ring again until next week. Knowing my luck after all this it likely won't be upheld.0 -

I have had several loans and credit cards over the past 10-15 years. However I can't remember which ones I had PPI on. Is there any way of finding out?
Many thanks
Do you have any paperwork or statements for any of these? if you do not and they were settled more than 6 years ago the information may not be held by the banks as this will have been destroyed, if you had any in the past 6 years then get your credit report, find out who the banks were and contact the banks and ask.0 -

Hello all,
I've not written on the forums for a while, but just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for giving me the impetus I needed to start seeing whether I can pursue a PPI claim against my bank.
I've had two loans with them - the first was consolidated into a second loan, along with debts. As with so many of you, I don't have the original paperwork (I left it behind when I left my ex-boyfriend) so I'm not sure whether I paid PPI, but...
...by my calculations I think I must have done;
I have very little detail of the first loan I was paying, save that I was paying £170 a month up until the middle of '05, when I consolidated the amount into my second loan. I think this loan was for £5000 over five years, and I think I was just about at the end of my third year of paying it. When I settled this first loan with the amount I'd received from the second loan, the balance was £3773.69 (I still have the record on my spreadsheet for that).
The second loan was for £7,500 over five years, starting in the middle of '05. At least with this one I have a bit more initial information as it was at this point I started keeping a spreadsheet of my expenditure. I was paying £200 a month for the first 31 months, then it went down to just over £180 a month for 13 months (I can't remember why, but I'm sure this was at my instigation), then the following month I paid the rest of the loan off in a lump sum of just under £2500. In total I paid just over £11,000 over the course of 45 months.
I can only assume with this huge amount that I was paying PPI in the price. The loan was from the bank with whom I have banked since I was a child and I had a good credit rating at the time.
The main thing I specified on both loans was that I needed the monthly payments to be as low as possible. I would not have agreed to increase the payments by adding insurance if I had been told it was optional.
Yesterday I wrote to my bank at an address they supplied to get the details of my loans (start/end dates, amounts, whether PPI was being paid). I know that I'll have to wait a while to get the details back but I don't mind if, in the long run, I get back anything that might be owed to me.
So thanks again to everyone here for the information and encouragement you've all provided. I will keep you updated as my possibly PPI-reclaim journey continues!Would LOVE to win:

Hi
I am new to all this and would just like to ask is overdraft insurance classed as PPI. I had this on my business account for quite a few years, not by choice, and feel that it was an expensive extra. Not quite sure how it worked anyway.0 -
If you have had money as a credit to the card it is possible they have upheld and paid the refund to the card, don't use this money as they will take it off and send you a cheque for it or ask you for bank details when they send you the calculation letter.
Thanks Amersall. I managed to get away from work a bit earlier and just off the phone to BoS. Don't you know, it's STILL being processed and no decision reached as yet. Just so frustrating. I have no intention of touching the money, but I cannot understand why the banks would risk putting £11k onto someone's CC and have it sitting for over a month!
All I was told was to ring back again next week.0 -
Hi there I am looking for some help in relation to PPI on a mortgage with Abbey National. I am pretty sure that the mortgage had PPI applied to it and in hindsight was not applicable as I was self employed. I have asked for a copy of the T&C and I have been issued a copy of the letter confirming my mortgage acceptance which shows the amount of the mortgage plus a statement which reads SPECIAL CONDITIONS: A mortgage guarantee policy in the sum of £6100 with Royal Insurance. The premium of £427 is included in the total loan and will be sent direct to the insurance company by us on completion.
Am I right in thinking this could be the PPI or is this something different? I'm struggling to get any help from Santander on this and it's taken me over 100 days to get a copy of this let alone anything else! Any help would be appreciated!4th December 2010 - The day I married my best friend, all that's left to do now is live happily ever after :heartpuls0 -
Hi my ppi complaint has been upheld , what does that mean? what do you get0
-
advice and help please ....... my bank as made me an offer on the PPI that I paid years ago the only problem is its alot lower than the PPI that I paid. can I negosiate (sorry spellings not my strong point) and how? or is their offer the best I can get, thanks
Hi Jules as the lovely Amersall says it depends on whether the loan was paid early in which case you'd only get a proportionate refund depending on what you'd paid.0
