PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I am sure that if you are on an IVA they should not take 40% of the claim,or even do it for that matter as you have paid 40% to them that could have reduced the debt, phone these and complain
http://www.justice.gov.uk/contacts/cmr
and put a complaint into the IVA provider as you are unhappy that the 40% will not reduce the debt and this was not explained to you, or that you could do this for free yourself.0 -

Hi, I am new to this site and was looking for some advice if possible.
I have recently made several complaints for PPI.
The first being MBNA who acknowledged that PPI had been applied to my account "at my request" on 12 January 2004. They go on to state that I opted for the payment protection cover on a separate screen to the credit card and they did not offer advice about the policy. I am sure that all boxes were pre-ticked and if I tried to remove the tick I could not continue with the application. They say this is their final decision. Can I take this any further?
Another of my complaints was to Welcome Finance for a scured loan taken out in August 2002 with PPI premium of £1719.90. I called them today for an update and the guy advised that it had not yet been dealt with and I could expect an offer at around week 6 which would be in 2 weeks. I then asked if it had not been looked at yet was he sure I was going to be made an offer. He looked at my complaint and muttered "time barred" to himself and then advised me that he could not give me any indications at all??? Any ideas
Last one is for GE Money. Their letter states "whilst GE Money provided the finance to you for the PPI, GE Money did not sell it to you. This was taken out through dial4aloan limited" They go on to advise me that dial4aloan are no longer trading and I would need to identify and contact the company administrators to make any claim. ?????
Any help would be much appreciated xxx0 -
Amersall very kindly gave some good advice regarding a ppi claim to Natwest, all was fairly straightforward, husband paid PPI (so he thought) on a loan back in the mid 90's so we wrote a letter stating why we thought it had been mis-sold. They acknowledged they were looking into it about a fortnight later. Meanwhile whilst sorting paperwork I found a copy of a 1997 bank statement stating he'd paid the PPI as a single lump sum and the amount so I sent another letter stating that the single premium was unfair etc. etc. as Amersall's wording' which crossed with an offer of approx £400 from loans from 2000 onwards. To date the other letter we sent and copy bank statement has not been acknowledged despite two very frustrating phone calls to different numbers (freefone RBS Helpline and Manchester somewhere).
So, if you're still with me, i've typed another letter today to both the RBS London address and the RBS Manchester address which will be sent recorded delivery asking if they're looking into the 1997 premium or indeed if they've even received it.
I'm not signing for the £400 or so until i've had a response to the other matter.
I'm wondering if they're hoping i'll go away.0 -
Did you get rejection from CT and you let 6 months pass before you could take it to FOS? if you did then you must have a very good reason for not taking this to FOS within the 6 months.
It is misselling as it is frontloaded PPI, and we only became aware recently that we could claim for this. Does this sound reasonable?:)
Thank you.0 -
Take it to FOS, you have only just realised you were mis sold this as you had no need of it.0

Hi can anyone help? I am considering claiming back PPI from both natwest and welcome finance, my problem is that i have defaulted on both of them (not good i know!)can i claim? and will they take any money as payment towards the loans?? i was also considering claiming PPI on a natwest credit card and also a capital one credit card (these have both been paid up in full a few years ago) generally speaking i don't know where to start or even if its a good idea!.
any help or advice would be appreciated0 -
Can anyone help, iv just read an old agreement i had with bennetts electrical from 2009 for tv cooker buy now pay 3 years later,i see on the small print they have ticked ppi and i know i said no! i rang creation finance they confirmed a ppi had been in place and that i would have to write a complaint, the question is, i can trace no direct debit attached to this policy, would it have been built in to the overall cost?
thanks guys0 -
I have had several loans, all of which have been paid off now. I do not have any account numbers so can I still investigate if I was mis sold PPI and if so how do I do it. I have had several companies ringing me to tell me I have a case but they want to charge around 35% of anything they claim back for me. Any help with be gratefully received. Would I be better writing to all the companies where I've had loans myself or use a claim handler ?0

They do not hold details for longer than 6 years and you may need to request a SAR, this costs £10 for each institution so can mount up.
The best thing to do is start with those you have details for and concentrate on anything taken out in the last 6 years and paid off recently.monkeyboy1406 wrote: »Hi can anyone help? It is my understanding that they can take money to pay off debt that you owe with them however what have you got to lose as it will mean that your debts will be smaller, surely that will make life a little easier.Scallywagg wrote: »I have had several loans, all of which have been paid off now. Never use a claim handler all they do is post off your questionnaire that you fill out all the details for. They do not investigate and research account details you have to provide them,
Contact each bank and see if they still hold your details if it is longer than 6 years it is unlikely. You will probably need a SAR request if you don't bank with them anymore.
