PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I have recently made a PPI claim against Cap One Credit Card. They have rejected the claim using the defence that I ticked the box on the form when applying for the card. My argument is that at the time no information was provided stating that there were other protection insurances available and also that consideration should be given to how long your salary might be paid before accepting.
Should I argue their defence with the FOS? The claim could result in a reasonable amount.0 -
quick question
have started a claim for ppi that has been running and is still active since 1998, can I claim for the whole 14 years or just 6?
Thanks0 -

Can I possibly reclaim PPI from my first loan I took out as a student from a catalogue company. I have been told if the loan is over 10 years old I cannot claim.
I have no paperwork and on my credit report is listed Kay Company catalogue but as it was probably 20 years ago I am not sure on the details, though I know when I lost my job as a waitress and tried to claim, I wasn't entitled. Then later to pay off the remaining loan I was told the PPI and then the interest was paid first so the loan was still to be paid.
Is it possible to claim and how do I go about it?
any help would be appreciated.0 -
After going through some old paperwork, I found some for an Agos card which I think I took out in 2002 (and I believe I am still paying off via a debt collection agency) where the statement shows a Payment Protection Plan Charge. My question is: Is this PPI and can I reclaim it? If so, how would I go about this as it is so old and does it matter that I am paying the debt off to a debt collection agency? I would appreciate any advice as I have looked through the forums and it all seems very confusing - would I be better of using a claims handling firm? And if so, which ones are any good?
Thanks in advance0 -
:jJust want to say thanks to all the Money Saving Experts for the advice in re-claiming PPI. Letter rec'd today from Santander offering over £3000 for 1 claim!!!! Claimed in June 2012, 1 phone call and 1 letter was all it took. Did consider the claims company route before reading the advice on this site and chanced going it alone. My advice to everyone is DIY!!!! Still waiting on Halifax responding again after an initial refusal......0

Hi, just updating my complaint with Lloyds tsb, with regard to my posting regarding my son, who has learning difficulties, taking out a loan with ppi for redundancy, and the bank not honouring his claim.......this was then put into collections and subsequently and indicator put onto his account...wrote to Lloyds on the 12th June with regards to this, and no answer, rang umpteen times and just get pushed onto various departments, with no answer.........now have just learned that the account is back in collections? [the loan was paid off by the way] but i have been informed that the account is back in collections due to me going overdrawn on my authorised overdraft - which i have not done- this has been confirmed by customer services who went through my account with me for an hour last night, back to collections, who will not budge........tried to get an appointment with a manager at local branch, no appointments available, said they will try to get it sorted via branch fpr me........writing to ceo of Lloyds now.....had enough......whats the worst thing that can happen? Daughter who works for co-operative bank says just change to them..so angry.......they just do not seem to be interested.....0

Or do you operate your son's account on his behalf?0 -
We have a joint account, my son cannot read or write at all, and has other issues, as i mentioned, i spoke to a customer service advisor last night who went over the account with me, and she confirmed that i had NOT gone over my authorised overdraft at any time, she then put me back to collections, who said that i would have to sort it out in branch, they can not do anything without the banks authority........so i will have to go into the branch and hope they can explain the reason why this has happened.......hopefully......0

Hello,I have made a claim with MBNA using your template's,thank you for making thing so easy,I have recieved a letter saying that my complaint has been up held.I have had the card for about 10 year's and fortunately I was able to pay the balance in full nearly every month. They have come back to me with a amount of £636.10.I have read on this site that you will gat back approx £0.80 for every £100.Is it worth me taking it further with the Ombudsam or shall I just take the money.0
