can i claim back my mortgage insurance aswell

Depends if it was mis sold or not, some MPPI is not reclaimable as you have to have it in some cases.

When you cancelled the PPI did they take any payments at all and did your monthly payment reduce for the loan? if not then contact AA and put a claim in.

I cancelled the PPI before any payments were taken from my account, the monthly payment figure was reduced straight away. Is it worth putting a claim in anyway as I was mis-sold the PPI?

    no prob x.

Send the complaint to Santander, explain that MBNA have paid out and ask them to look at the PPI that you paid to them send a copy of the printout from MBNA to show that there was PPI on there.

I have and they sent a letter saying that without definate proof of ppi they wont pay and if I can provide a statement showing a ppi payment they will review case. When I contacted them to ask if this was a final resolution letter they said yes and that they are saying its a kind of case of there might have been ppi or might not have been ppi but without further evidence they will not look at it again

As I said had sent a letter saying I was not happy with this and that since I had more proof than them that there was ppi would they consider a goodwill gesture but have no reply but knowing Santander they prob lost the post lol

anyway do I go to FOS with this now ? or am I wasting their time?

    Evening all

I hope what I am about to write hasn't been asked before but i have trawled for hours and am hoping someone can help me.

I have decided to get on the PPI bandwagon as they say and the following information is what i have

I have had four Abbey National loans over the years, one still active (£300 richer come January 2012:j)
I started this bank charges reclaim in Sept 2007 and got as far as asking for the statements which i have kept. On the list of transactions/statements i have found three payments to Abbey National Loans.
£98.10 per month payed back in 2001 (not sure when started)
£89.98 per month Started paying in 2001 finished 2002
£355.09 per month started in 2003 unsure of finish date.
I am sure there was PPI on at least two but was told it was to get a better rate of interest!

Q1 Are the reference numbers on the statements enough as i do not have the original agreements to claim? Can I claim as over six years old? Do i put all three together?

Secondly i have found a DD for prudential banking (looked it up on here and it was for my EGG loan)
Again i have the reference number from a statement dated 2007
Do i put claim to Egg or to Barclaycard who now deal with EGG?

Thirdly: I had an abbey credit card and an Egg credit card both of which are closed accounts and cut up into little tiny pieces! I have no clue of whether or not I had PPI on these. Do I send the same first letter to these seperately from the loans? all I have are the references from my statements are these enough?

I am very sorry if these questions have been asked, or indeed if they are a bit ???? but i hope someone can help

  • New to this site but after some advice really. I have recently made three successful claims for PPI myself and quitely pleased with the amount I have got back. Just an afternoon of form filling and a trip to the post office for recorded delivery and bobs your dads brother.

Anyway the advice Im after is regarding a company called Welcome finance. Back in May 2005 I took out a secured loan with them ( so wish I hadnt now). Everything was going fine apart from the extortionate interest rate. In Sept 2010 I moved (still trying to sell my original property but proving difficult due to negative equity mainly down to Welcome). I had paid every month up until this point and then missed a few months wilst looking for work. I spoke to Welcome and sorted out my account. Anyway I then become unemployed again in late 2011 and spoke to them again as I knew I had taken out PPI.(have all the original documents). They told me that my account was showing that I had no PPI cover.(absolute crap). Anyway I then received a letter from the FSCS saying I could claim against Welcome for mis sold PPI as they were unable to honor the insurance and were in deep financial poop. I filled in all forms and waited, and waited. Now today I have received a letter saying that they cannot uphold my claim as I cancelled my PPI in 2011. I have never spoken to anyone about cancelling my PPI and am totally confused. I have seen various threads regarding Welcome and some people are saying that they are cancelling PPI without customer knowledge. Can they do this??? I thought this would have to be given in writting. Have also read about obtaining a SAR (subject access request) from Welcome, is this worth doing. There is no way I will be leaving this as I know I took the PPI cover out and was mis-sold it (told i had to have it otherwise no loan) and I have not cancelled it.

No you have nothing to be given back by the bank as they did not take any money off you!!!

The first thing you need to do is find paperwork that shows you paid for PPI.
You should not just claim thinking you might have had it as this holds up the claims for others.
You can use a SAR costs £10 per institution to find out all information they hold on you. Or call them first and ask, if you do not believe what they tell you request a sar.
If you find you had it you then need valid reasons why you should not have been sold it in the first place.

I do repeat do not just send off a questionnaire to the bank saying you had PPI, get proof first.

    Dear JDWMFC

Firstly thank you so much for the quick reply. I was just reading about the SAR route! I was worried about completing a SAR without all the details,
Is the reference from the statements enough?
Will the SAR show me if there was PPI explicitly on the documents?
Not sure what the questionaire is that you mentioned, i have only got as far as step one from Martin's advice, didn't want to read any further in case I chickened out! Should I read the questionnaire now?
Should i send the SAR to EGG or Barclaycard who have taken over?
Will a SAR to Abbey cover the loans and credit cards?

Sorry for all the questions some of which are probably stupid ones

What years were these taken out and are they now closed?.

Send a Sar request to all 3, this will cost you £30 though as you pay £10 per bank, depending on the years these were paid off they may not hold any info even with a Sar request.

Do you have info at all? try your credit report if these were paid off in the past 6 years , the last 4 digits of the account numbers should be there, you can use these.

Hiya amersall, Thanks for the reply.

Both loans were taken out in July 2002 and paid off in July 2007.
