  • Hi,I had a letter from Egg on the 10th July stating they wanted to settle my PPI claim, I sent the signed acceptance back on Saturday just gone.

Today I have had a letter saying they are not going to settle.

Can they change their mind like this?

My partner has been off work since april due to ill health we are in arrears with our mortgage but are waiting on ppi payouts which would sort out this problem is there anything we can do to hurry them up? We have just been sent a letter from one saying they have another eight weeks to resolve this!

Hi partyboo probably not as they are both separate issues

hi, i have been bankrupt in the past (after my loans), can i still try to claim? or because it was written off can i not claim? (posted in the wrong thread first sorry!)

Hi Naki you can claim but some or all will probably go into your past bankruptcy but it would probably be worth claiming as you'd get to keep the 8% interest.

    Hello All,

Barclays have admited misselling of my PPI on a loan.

As part of the settlement they want me to sign a new loan agreement and use over £200 of my settlement to pay off arrears.

I am in arrers because when I originally asked about cancelling my PPI they said this was "not possible" and all I could do was take out a new loan at a higher rate of interest. I do not want a new loan and would prefer to have just a cheque for all of my missold PPI and copntinue to pay off my old loan at the old rate. I even offered to continue to make payments on my loan whilst this issue was resolved but Barclays told me this was unneccessary.

Now with the new offer (which is full and final) because I am further into arrears they are taking even more money off my settlement figure to keep paying off the artificial arrears and this seems ridiculous.

I called to discuss this with barclays and got nowhere as the call adviser was extremely rude and aggressive despite me just asking what I should do as I am unhappy with the offer and also that I do not want a new loan with new terms and conditions. I have a mental disability and these confrontational telephone calls affect my condition greatly. Who do I complain to about this call as I now do not know where I stand with my loan and do not want to call again in case they are confrontational again.

I kind of wish I hadnt started the process of recllaiming the PPI on this loan and feel like I am losing out because of the claim.

What should I do? Would going to the ombudsman help? I just want my PPI money and to settle the loan on my old terms... is this possible?

Any help/advice will be gratefully received as I dont really understand whats going on here as it all seems a bit like the bank is not listenning to me.

Please help as I feel I have hit a brick wall and I am being fobbed off.

Hi augustus you are always best to keep the ppi on a loan until the reclaiming is done as the loan would have to be reconstructed maybe even with a higher rate of interest, the bank have not misinformed you, sorry.

    Hi All

Success! Received over £5,000 from Egg for a loan & from Santander, for old A&L loans. I am so pleased i pursued this, took alot of thinking about but I've managed to clear some of my debts, so thankyou to MSE for the support and encourgement.

Now i'm going after the PPI sold on my credit cards from Egg and A&L, hopefully will get same outcome.

Don't give up, keep on going!

    Thanks
    TFS

I have recently heard back from Barclays concerning a loan I had with them in '96 (I have a copy of the loan agreement)

On it it states Barclayloan Protection, Barclays state that this is NOT any form of PPI. Is this correct?

It's ppi. this sounds like a fob off.

I dont know if I will qualify for this, I have had a loan since 2003 and im still paying it also got ppi on it

then you should be able to claim. If you have paperwork/proof you should be able to go back 10+ years.

    Hi Everyone,

We have just sent off for an application form from the FSCS as we have found out that Retail Finance are now in administration.
We are putting in a claim for mis-sold ppi for the following reasons:
    * An adviser came to our house and persuaded us ppi would be a 'good nest egg' if we didnt claim eg we would get the £5000 back.
    * company only quoted us the loan with the ppi included
    * single premium policy with the ppi borrowed at the same rate as the loan - 11% APR
    * had redundancy package and 6 months full time/6 months part time sickness cover, didnt ask about it
*bought ppi over 300 months but it wasnt explained to us that we are only covered for 5 years! Will still be paying when not covered. This was not explained!

Can anyone tell us as to whether or not they think the FSCS will uphold our claim?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Nic it sounds like you have a good chance.
