I am using a claims company(foolishly) to claim back PPI and they have been quite successful. A recent claim made on Tesco's CC has prompted a letter (not copied to the Claim Company) saying I had ticked the box in a written application accepting PPI therefore I am not eligible for a refund.

Now I ticked the box because I was concerned that if I didnt then I would not get the credit card - is that not a condition to claim?

Also I am suspicious that they have not copied the claim company - your views on this?

    regards

    Nick:)
Did you ask the claims to look into Tesco credit that you may have had? if not then they don't know about this, are you thinking of rejecting the reasons for not upholding that Tesco gave yourself?.

  • I received letter from Barclaycard saying upheld my claim, offering £946.85 plus interest of £262.01 and simple interest of 8% of £68.24, was very pleased to say the least so sent off the acceptance letter. After thinking about this I think I may have paid more than the amount of £946.85 in ppi as this card has been open since 2006 and an average of £18.00 per month. I am not greedy, am delighted to be getting this money back and don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but is there any way that they could have mis calculated this amount, and I do know that there is nothing I can do now I have sent the acceptance letter back.

Cards are a bit different to Loans, you only actually get interest when you were in credit, as to the actual amount if you think it's wrong just give the bank a call and query the calculation. Good luck.

Just fine lovely especially now we're getting some summer weather (at last)
  • Hi
First post so here it goes.
I took out a credit card and a loan from LTSB in 1999, both had ppi on them and at the time they sold me additional accident and hospital insurance policies, i asked at the time if they covered me as i am self employed and were told they would.
Phoned the banks PPI claim line and made a claim, received a letter today telling me they do not agree it was mis-sold because the documentation issued subsequently fully explained the benefits and limitations of the policies.
Is there any point pursuing this further ?

Indeed Tim, this is all part of LTSB's game, being self employed with your LTSB's credit card you could'nt have claimed on any of there policies, i'm claiming for two credit cards myself and i was also self employed, pursue this.
  • Thanks Cappo.
I'm wondering is it worthwhile writing to the bank to disagree or to go straight down the ombudsman route ?
