  • Hi All

Can you claim the miselling of PPI if:

I have already claimed on the original policy when i was made redundant and they already paid me in full for the 12 months i was out of work.

Can i still claim for the misselling of this policy even though i used the policy fully?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, but your options with regard mis-selling reasons are reduced significantly. For example, you can hardly claim you did not need the insurance since you claimed!
Also be aware that any redress awarded would have the amount you actually claimed subtracted from it.

Does anyone know if being self employed alone is a good enough reason for reclaiming PPI.
It depends on whether your PPI policy would have covered you in the event of unemployment.
    Check the terms..
  • I wrote to my credit card (RBS) around 4 months ago, i received documents off them stating they had found details for my credit card account as it was still in my maiden name so they asked for a copy of my marriage certificate. I sent this back to them along with the banks documents that had evidence ticked that i had been paying PPI around 4/5 weeks ago. I called the bank today and they claim they have no information on my account at all regarding a complaint!!. I am very annoyed with them as they have sent me information from them stating i have been paying PPI on my credit card. The boy on the phone was very unhelpful do you know how it is best to go ahead with this complaint, i have wasted a lot of time on this!!.

My partner has had three seperate loans with Alliance Leicester over the last 10 years - they are now all paid off and the paperwork has been shredded. If we contact Santander will they have details of these loans and if so does anyone know what address I should be writing to. I am really clueless about all this.

Quick update from me, I called the hsbc regulated sales office to find out if i needed to send a payment with my letter. The lady done a search on my account and said she couldn't find any details of my personal loans going back to 2002, as they only had my records back to 2006. But she said she could see that I had ppi, but it didn't say any dates. Very odd I thought, I have taken out another loan with hsbc last year but that definitely didn't have ppi on it, she said she will put all the info on my ppi that she has on a questionnaire and send it out to me.

She said it's supposed to take 5 working days but could take longer as they're so busy. I'll wait for the questionnaire to come and take it from there.

    Will update again after that.

Another update from me, I posted here back in May looking for advice as I had a loan with hsbc back in 2002 but had destroyed the paperwork after I paid off the loan.

Anyway to cut the long story short my wife has told me today that I have a received a letter from HSBC with them offering me £556. :)

Now I haven't read the letter as I'm at work currently, and I'm grateful that HSBC have made an offer especially considering I didn't have any paperwork.

However I'm curious as to how they would have come to this figure, my loan was for £2000 paid over 2 years. I was paying about £80 a month for the ppi. Am I entitled to ask them how they've come to this figure? Or should I say are they likely to tell me if I do ask??

If this was a loan, it could have been Single Premium, if you paid the PPI monthly amount in with the loan payment, then Single Premium is the reason that you use for the mis sell.

You should ask how they worked this out.
