Thank you to the people that have helped with advice so far. Looking to finalise a claim to Barclays this weekend and wondered if someone could help with the following:

    1. I've only got the Account No & sort code for the loan, rather than the policy number. Is this going to be a problem?
    2. Which address is the best for writing to Barclays? I notice a few have been given (Leicester, Central London etc). Is a certain one better for a certain task (ie one for requesting loan details and another for PPI reclaims?)

    Thanks
    :)
You only need the account number and reasons for mis sell.

Claimed PPI on Halifax CC taken out 1995. Rec'd rejection letter saying I took out card by direct mail and "as the credit agreement shows we required additional consent in the form of a signature to confirm you wanted PPI policy it can be concluded that you did knowlingly consent to the addition of the PPI policy to your credit card". Therefore complaint not upheld. My problem is that I dont think I rec'd info as to what PPI was (probably just claimed via a leaflet Halifax sent me offering a CC) and I wouldnt have needed PPI as I was in full-time local government employment with a generous sickness / redundancy package. Can I appeal and any tips?
  • Eventually, finalised PPI result from NRAM! Next - Lloyds TSB. Does anyone know how long it takes from lodging the complaint to a decision? NRAM took me about 7 months. Thanks
Spare change tin in force this year!
    NRAM PPI : £6022.56 - WIN! :j
    LLOYDS PPI : £4684.66 - WIN! :j
My Pearl of Wisdom : Don't be scared to say "I can't afford it", or "I'm skint" to anything... If you're lucky, you'll still be able to do what you want, just find a different way -and if you can't, you don't need it anyway! :p

Also, before I pay off my Lloyds TSB CC with the proceeds of the NRAM ppi, is it worth keeping the CC open, and therefore Lloyds having "easy" access to my relevant details? Or just paying say, all but 50p off, and then they can still see my details? Thanks for any comments...:p

How come you haven't complained already? Why are you "lining up" each lender in turn? Wouldn't it be so much quicker if you had all your complaints running concurrently?

Anyway, I think you're right to keep your credit card account open with a minimum balance so you don't incur too much interest.

    hi, after some advice,

I had lodged a complaint with citi regarding ppi, some 3 years ago, the account has now changed to opus.my complaint has gone through the fos, they offfered to settle my complaint last october as a goodwill gesture, fully inline with the fos guidelines.

the fos told me the complaint should be settled by mid jan this year. jan came and went and still nothing. the fos told me they would follow it up, this has now gone on for months with no outcome.

the fos informed me that there had been an issue with citi and opus as to who is liable to pay the claim. the account as opus is owned by lloyds tsb group now. and they accepted liablility over seven weeks ago.

seven weeks later i am still no further on, i have heard nothing from lloyds, if i contact the fos they say they are in the same boat waiting for info from lloyds.

can anyone advise how i should chase this up, its already being handled by a manager at the fos.

    thanks

I'm afraid FOS is as high up the chain as you can go with this. I think you'll just have to be patient. On the positive side, at least your complaint has been upheld. Others have been waiting at FOS for a year or more with no decision at all.

Hey Moneyineptitude fantastic point but I don't think this is the only poster to be doing this.

PPI reclaimers listen up there is no point waiting to see how one does, get them all off at once. Every single one!!! Some might take years some might take a few weeks.

Plus as banks etc only have to keep your details for 6 years the sooner you do the more likely you are to get a payment.
    CC 1 :- £5800/ £5,800 CC2:-[STRIKE] £4513 / £4513[/STRIKE] CC3: £4622.53/ £4622.53[/STRIKE] CC4:- £8971/ £8971[/STRIKE]
    Loan:- [STRIKE]£1785.63 / £1785.63[/STRIKE] 0

Actual total debt January 2011 £39,451.30 Paid to date 39,375.77
 PPI from HSBC = £4172

It is a lot harder to prove misold with cards sold through the post as these tend to be labelled non advised, i've had a few like this myself and won but it is a lottery, but saying that there are lots of reasons why you could have been misold, it would'nt hurt to talk to them again, if no joy fos it.
