Some advice, please. I have a PPI claim on a credit card going back fourteen years, but what i am trying to work out,is how calculate potential award.
I am correct in thinking it is: premium tax plus interest at rate charged plus 8% interest

They set the card back to a zero balance, they then redo the card without the PPI, any month that this card had a credit balance, you do not get the 8% for, they give you the PPI back and the interest that you paid on this.
They only go back 6 years with a Credit card unless you have proof of PPI paid before this.

How will I know if I had PPI on them or even the ones that I am currently using?
With a Credit card the PPI will show as a separate payment each month, it is not in with any other payment for the card or interest.

With a loan it will show on the agreement if PPI is there, look at the loan amount and interest and PPI amount and interest, if PPI is not there, then you do not have it.

Just wondering if anyone can help , when i turned 18 i received my debit card and mentioned on phone to man at rbs that i needed it to do a credit check and he suggested a credit card but didnt mention anything about PPI.

I was quite badly in debt and mentioned to rbs about ppi and they offered me £70 and as that took me under the balance i accepted and subsequently paid it off within the year.

Now it seems i was paying PPI for roughly 2years and feel £70 was a bit short but can i reclaim or is it once youve accepted , thats it finished.
You could get back in touch and ask for all the PPI to be refunded as you are more aware now about the mis selling of PPI and know that they should have offered more.
See what they come back with.

The Toyota is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason for mis sell that you use, this was a loan on the loan paid to term end with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a pro rata rebate of the PPI and the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end.

If you settled this loan early then, as above, you would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.
Write back to Toyota and ask them to look at this again.

Complain again to Hitachi, give the reasons that you were mis sold and see what they come back with, the Single Premium reason cannot be used with this claim unless you paid the PPI in with the loan monthly payment.

Thank you; ok so what do i need to put in the letter, is there a template i can use and is it right you can claim back the interest? The agreement states that the PPI was for £1069.97 at 10.6% from January 2008 to December 2012.
  • Apologies if this has been asked before but I'm new to the site.

In 2000 I took a mortgage out with Skipton B/S and they put the PPI on this.

Have sent the forms off from this site and now had a response. They have confirmed that I arranged my mortgage using the services of an introducer (Kingfisher Mortgages) and as Skipton provided no advice with regards to the mortgage or insurance, any concerns I have should be directed directly to the introducer, Kingfisher, but from what I can see, this company has now been dissolved.

They also state that 'the product you chose with your introducer was subject to you taking & maintaining until 28.02.2002, one of the societys three insurance products. You chose our Skipton Assured MPPI policy'. I didnt choose to take this but the other two policies were the standard Buildings & Contents policies and I already had these elsewhere & I was told to take it or lose the mortgage.

Does anyone know what I can do now?

    Hi All
Just wondered if anyone else was having any trouble with First Plus. I took out a secured loan in 2005 with who i thought was secured loans with Barclaycard. This is who i phoned up and still have the original leaflet with the phone number with Barclaycard secured lending. All my paperwork is from Barclaycard and even a settlement letter is from them. I never went to a broker. First Plus sent me a final response letter saying that my loan was brokered by loans.co.uk who i've never heard of. Loans.co.uk have since replied saying that me and my partner have never had a loan with them. Phoned first Plus who have passed this on to there complaints department and now this is going to take another five days to find out who sold me the loan. Even my insurance says it is with Barclays Dublin. Very long winded
  • Hi, i was automatically given a credit card when I opened an Alliance and Leicester joint account. I dont remember filling anything in for it at all. It was an Alliance and Leicester card and then changed to mbna. I now have a balance of over£7000. I was mostly only making the minimum repayment ans as the interest and ppi charges were so high the balance was never coming down. I have now negotiated a reduced payment plan with them myself. I was just wondering what my chances are of getting my ppi charges back and would it affect my current agreement with them. Would I be better to phone or write to them? It would be such a relief to get my balance reduced. thanks in advance for any help??

i have a question about my mortgage ppi i took out in february 2007 if anyone can help.
in february 2007 i got a mortgage with alliance and leicester and after meeting with the mortgage advisor we were accepted. i recall the meeting taking around 1 and a half hours of which nearly 1 hour of that was the mortgage advisor insisting we took out PPI cover. at one point he was not going to give us the mortgage unless we took out critical cover which seemed a step too far for what we could afford so we stuck with the normal cover he insisted we took.
as it turned out i fell ill around 18 months later and the PPI stepped in to save us. i had developed an illness which will stay with me for life.
2 years or so later i fell ill again with my chronic illness and had to take another 2 months off work, again the PPI cover helped us.
my question is although i have had to claim am i elligible to question my PPI sold to me by A and L ( although the cover is from another company ) .
as you could imagine i would never cancel this policy now as they have to cover me for my illness as my illness did'nt start until after i took out the policy...it's basically invaluable.
the thing that grates on me is the mortgage advisor who must have been on commision at the time to make sure i took out the PPI as all the mortgage meeting he was pre occupied not with the amount we could borrow but the level of cover he sold us.

i do currently have an ongoing claim with barclays with 2 personal loans from 2002 to 2007 where barclays insisted i would not get the loans unless i took out PPI cover and that is what has spurred me on to question my mortgage PPI.

    thanks, Richard.

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading some of the posts but I still can't make out what my situation with the PPI is. Can someone please answer my question.
I have been paying PPI for 3 years but the credit card I have is not from my Bank it's from Vanquis. I never realised that I am paying it until recently and cancelled it.Will I stand a chance in reclaiming?

    Thank you
