  • Hi,

I had the misfortune of pruchasing Tiny PC just before the company went into liquidation. I was a full time student at the time and was told that I couldn;t get the finance without PPI as it would not be approved without it. I ended up paying the finance up over a period of 4 years which included PPI.

Maybe it is too late to do anything about this now but I wondered if anyone had any ideas how i could progress this. I can't even remember who the finance company was. It is no longer on my credit report because it has been settled for 6 years . . .

I also don't have any of the paperwork.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Cheers :)
  • I had loan from a finance company for a car i wanted to buy.
Will i qualify to claim back ppi.

    Thanks

My wife claimed on her PPI a few years ago I thought this meant she wouldnot be able to claim.

I found some paper work that indicated she had two front loaded loans.

I rang FOS and they have pointed out that she should not have been sold thesecond Ppi at all, because she had claimed on the first as they were aware ofthe pre-existing medical condition.

I was told to stress that front loaded loans have been banned because theywere so unfair and use this as a reason for complaint.

I think we might be in with a shout on this thanks to everyone that’s helpedus so far

    Hi llecky,

This front loaded single premium was the only reason my complaints were upheld:D;)

    You should be fine:)

Been hearing about PPI for some time now but decided not to do anything about it, as I was convinced I would know if I had been paying any extra insurance. However my friend recently claimed and got some money back but she didn't know that she had PPI on her account. I think this is the same with me, over the years I have had numerous credit cards, loans, hire purchase, bank accounts, store cards etc. Many of them are not even active anymore and have no idea what the details of the accounts are.

How will I know if I had PPI on them or even the ones that I am currently using? I have just been into my filing cabinet to look through the paperwork on each one, and cannot seem to see anywhere about PPI, the breakdowns of interest etc all seems very confusing (hire purchase being the worst - the monthly interest is very expensive!). According to Martin's how to guide you need to know if you had it first and were mis-sold it before asking for a refund. I just can't seem to figure out if I ever had it or have it, the paperwork is just too confusing, does this mean I probably never had it?

For example credit cards, everytime I get the statement through is it supposed to say on it PPI charge - £?? Or is it combined into the normal interest cost? I just don't really understand if I ever had it? PPI has never been mentioned to me on any of my accounts upon taking them out, most were taken out online. Is it just a case of getting in contact with each one and asking them straight out if I have it? and will they be honest? thanks very much
  • Some advice, please. I have a PPI claim on a credit card going back fourteen years, but what i am trying to work out,is how calculate potential award.
I am correct in thinking it is: premium tax plus interest at rate charged plus 8% interest

I sent in a complaint to Santander telling them that I had sufficient sick cover, redundancy cover, the equity in my mortgage will pay off the loan worst case scenario, that none of these were asked about on the phone, and that I was made to feel at the time that I wouldn't get the loan if I didn't take the PPI.
After reading this forum and learning a bit more about things, I have realised that it was also single premium. I did tick a box on the complaint form saying it was single premium, in the form on section B5, but I'm not sure that this is the same thing.
I could kick myself now, because this was definitely ppi paid in with the monthly loan amount and charged interest on, and now I haven't complained for the most obvious reason! Will the bank pick up on this, or are they more likely to wriggle out if I haven't mentioned it?
They have written to me after 4 weeks saying that they need more time to complete their investigation - but the letter took 2 weeks to arrive!

Thanks you in advance for any replies.

How to word the covering letter now. I don't think give me my cash back now you thief. Will be the best idea. ;)
That is a good start :D:cool:
Seriously, you do not need a covering letter unless there is a lot of info you cannot put on the form.
If you do need to write a letter then just put what it is you want to say.

If you ticked the Single Premium on the form then they will look at this, they should know that it is SP because of the figures for the loan, give the the time they need.
