It was an Alliance and Leicester card and then changed to mbna. I now have a balance of over£7000. I was mostly only making the minimum repayment ans as the interest and ppi charges were so high the balance was never coming down. I have now negotiated a reduced payment plan with them myself. I was just wondering what my chances are of getting my ppi charges back and would it affect my current agreement with them. Would I be better to phone or write to them? It would be such a relief to get my balance reduced. thanks in advance for any help??
If you have reasons for mis sell and the card number then make the complaint.
If you win the arrears will be taken off the card and any surplus will be given to you, they may take the whole win off the card but at least this will reduce the balance.
If after the win you cannot afford the full payments then renegotiate the payment that you can make.0 -
my question is although i have had to claim am i elligible to question my PPI sold to me by A and L ( although the cover is from another company ) .
as you could imagine i would never cancel this policy now as they have to cover me for my illness as my illness did'nt start until after i took out the policy...it's basically invaluable.
All PPI made the people selling it a commission for every policy that was sold, that was par for the course, If I were you I would stick with the PPI and all that you could claim on this in the future.0 -
Hi everyone,
I have been reading some of the posts but I still can't make out what my situation with the PPI is. Can someone please answer my question.
I have been paying PPI for 3 years but the credit card I have is not from my Bank it's from Vanquis. I never realised that I am paying it until recently and cancelled it.Will I stand a chance in reclaiming?
Thank you
If you have the card number and reasons for mis sell then put the claim into Vanquis.
Make sure that it is not card cover but insurance to cover you for sickness unemployment and death.0 -

I have just sent off the first PPI claim template. I have got one back from Creation finance company who are looking another £10 for me to access the t&c of my contract - do this sound like i should pay the £10?
Also a few of the credit cards i had out say im not entitled to the t&c as the account is settled and closed. Anyone got any advice on this matter?
The agreement will be of no use to you as PPI on cards could have been added at a later date and if the account is closed they do not have to provide you with anything for the £1 request.
If you have the card numbers and reasons for mis sell then put the claim in.
If you have not got any info then ask for all info they hold on you and enclose £10 per bank.0 -
I didn't have a loan but agreed to pay this monthly fee anyway, the woman who I originally applied for a loan with over the phone offered me this kind of insurance at the end of the call after she refused my loan as I didn't really feel as though I could say no I agreed. It doesn't appear on my bank statements anymore & can't remember what it was titled on them.
If you had no need of this insurance then put a claim in for mis sell.
Do you have no info at all regarding this insurance? if not then write to the bank and ask for all info they hold on you and enclose £10 this should get you the info you need to then decide if you did not need this insurance and then make the claim.0 -
My card was paid off in full in the summer 2004,I don't know the account number, what is the best way to get it? I'm sure I read on here somewhere a while back that it could be possible to simply ring them with whatever details you had about the account,& see what they came back with,is this right? If so, does anyone have an up-to-date telephone number for this?
0800 062 062would my a/c no. be available on one of those credit history sites, like experian? Ifwill I need 1 of those SARS letters for that?0 -

I had the misfortune of pruchasing Tiny PC just before the company went into liquidation. I was a full time student at the time and was told that I couldn;t get the finance without PPI as it would not be approved without it. I ended up paying the finance up over a period of 4 years which included PPI.
Maybe it is too late to do anything about this now but I wondered if anyone had any ideas how i could progress this. I can't even remember who the finance company was. It is no longer on my credit report because it has been settled for 6 years . . .
I also don't have any of the paperwork.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Right, I've established that I had front loaded PPI, well amersall has. Is this the same as a single premium ppi?
I sent a complaint to natwest for mis selling ppi, but my complaints were very weak and they rejected my complaint. !I'm going to write back to natwest regarding the front loaded ppi. How do I word it?? I just want to try and make out like I know what I'm talking about!!!Thanks for all your help so far - it's much appreciated.0 -
Thanks for that. I took the loan out for over 5 years but paid it back after 2 years. I don't understand why front loaded ppi was bad so I don't know what reason to give....I don't really know how it affected me...so confusing this PPI! Ha
This PPI was in fact a loan on the original loan that you paid back over the loan term with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a rebate for the PPI but the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end with the interest.
If you settled the loan early, they give you a rebate of the PPI as above, and the remaining PPI you pay back in the settlement figure.
If you had a PPI that you paid monthly on its own to the loan, this can be cancelled any month at no charge to you and you do not pay the PPI again for the remaining term of the loan.
See the difference with the Single Premium PPI as opposed to the monthly one?, this is why the SP PPI is the most upheld of all PPI reclaims, you do not need any other reason for mis sell with your claim.0
