Hi, many congratulations on your win. You pay tax on the interest at whatever your standard rate tax is. My OH just called his tax office with the figures when he got his breakdown, they told him what he should pay and he sent off a cheque. Saves changing your tax code etc, just gets it paid off in one lump so you know what you have left. Please anybody feel free to correct me if this is not correct!!
You can also arrange to pay the taxable amount as part of PAYE if you desire rather than in a lump sum.

Speak to your local tax office, you may still be liable for tax if the redress amount takes you over the tax-free threshold.

    I had a phone call from Blackhorse last week regarding my PPI claim, they asked a couple of questions;
    1. What pay would we get if we were off sick from work?
6 months full pay, 6 months half pay.
    2. Would we have a redundancy package and how much?
Yes, don't know how much think it's 4 times yearly salary.
    3. Do you have "death in service" payment, how much?
Yes, don't know again I think it's 4 times yearly salary.

I asked what happens now, he said he was only investigating claims and would pass the information on. One week later I received a letter, I was afraid to open it I thought "here we go....your not getting anything"

"I am sorry this situation has occurred and I appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention. I have now completed an investigation into the circumstances of your complaint, and as a result I have decided to uphold your complaint. :T:T As a final response, we are now able to offer you a payment of £4505.79 ":j:j:j
Don't know how long this will take to go into my bank account, but at least I know it's coming and my monthly payments will now go down by £123 :D:D.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Amersall :A and all the team on this forum for the help and advice given through the threads if it wasn't for your advice I wouldn't have had the courage to do this....thanks:beer::beer::beer:

Hi,just want to thank everyone first for all the info on this subject I am also looking at my PPI on loans & credit card but I am no longer with my bank, has anyone got a template for a full breakdown of a closed account for the £10 fee as I cant find it.

    many thanks

    Hi

How long ago was it you had these loans/credit cards?

A credit report costs £2 if you want to try this first, it's up to you, cannot remember if it's Equifax or Experian that may go back to 10 years, so you could contact them by ringing them first.

If you want to go the SAR direction.....

    Letter template here:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Please be aware, if you had loans and credit cards with the same bank, by using the bank account number, they should provide all data on all accounts you taken out with them, so one SAR with one payment of £10 is sufficient, remember to include the bank account number, they track down details this way, and it makes no difference if you no longer bank with them.

Another suggestion (free) in regards of the loans, if you still have the banking account number, you could call into the local branch and they may check the systems for you.
Any old bank statements may enclose details of what you require, such as the loan account numbers, generally shown next to the name of lender and monthly loan repayment.

    Hope this helps, good luck.;)

If you were mis sold the PPI and have the account number, you send the complaint to the dealer.
It was a small car sales place. I do not understand what a claim has to do with them.

I'm just starting my claim with First Plus, so we're in the same boat. I am just sending off a DSAR today with my £10 cheque, so hopefully they'll come up with something that has my account number and PPI info on it!

My loan with them was 12 years ago, but I'm going to try anyway. I KNOW I had PPI on there, and that they told me when I was applying for it that I had to take PPI to get the loan. I've also read somewhere that if it was a debt consolidation loan, then they DEFINITELY shouldn't have sold me PPI, but it was and they did. In fact, I'm thinking that they actually sent the payments to my credit cards to pay them off at the time, so it's not like they can claim not to have known. Anyway, all it's costing me is a tenner for the SAR, for the paperwork that I just threw out in our last massive clearout

I'll update if I get any progress. Hope you hear about yours soon. Where are you in the process? Have you seen the FirstPlus PPI Announcement page on their website? I can't post the link (prob cos I'm fairly new on this user ID) but if you google the words in red, it should come up as the first result. I was encouraged by this, in that they seem to be acknowledging and accepting blame (not sure if this was put up AFTER the court case; I guess so).

My only grumble if I'm successful is that I just discovered last night that they're part of Barclays. I'm just starting a DMP and Barclaycard are one of my creditors, so it'll probably get swiped for that, but I'm hopeful I'll still get the interest.

    Good luck!

    Hi Amersall

Sorry to be a pain but phoned First Plus and they are still saying my loan was brokered by Loans.co.uk who are denying this.
How do i go about putting a claim in when nobody is accecpting reliability for selling me the loan ?
First Plus are saying they can send me the agreements out showing loans.co.uk brokered this
FOS said i can put in a complaint with them but this could take up to a year. I am still paying this loan and it was took out in March 2005. I just want somebody to acknowlege my complaint and take the standad 8 weeks to decide if i was missold

You put the complaint into loans.co.uk when you have the correspondence from FP that shows L.co.uk sold the loan and PPI, only send a copy of what FP send you.

When you put the complaint into L.co.uk let them know that they are responsible for the PPI on this loan and if they do not accept this claim and look at it then you will forward it to FOS.
